I am an ex-Vancouverite living in Toronto now! Gphi2k (Leslie) is a Torontonian as well. Since I think you're a Chi O, Chi O used to have a Canadian chapter at Wellmuth College (now part of UWO)...alas, it was from 1899-1900! Check it out here: http://www.canadiangreeks.com/directory/chio.html [This message has been edited by CutiePie2000 (edited July 27, 2001).] |
Hey,
Yah, there are few canuks around here. Hopefully lil g, sisterplum and siobhan will stop in to say hi. As everyone knows (cause I never shut up about it), I'm from Toronto also. It's a great city. I'm from the north end of the city tho. Getting to where the action is is not always easy. Why did you leave Toronto and go to the states *cough* traitor *cough*? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif |
Not a real canuk, but I'm origanally from wisconsin, and go to school in arizona... here that I'm from almost canada all the time. possibly out pres will stop by too, shes a b.c. native
|
Yo. I'm a canuck from eastern ontario, one of the most beautiful parts of the country or so i'm told.
Why did you leave Toronto to go to the states *cough* traitor *cough*? don't worry about that comment, the smog in toronto has been making leslie cough a lot - hey i would leave too if i was from that city. |

I knew there was a chi o chapter at western, does anyone know what happened to it? caddd, what's the greek life here? I didn't even know there was one here til i walked by lamda chi (my friend lives in innis)! It's weird how little is known about it here. ------------------ Travelling with no boundaries, moving in imaginary. |
Toronto's greek scene is pretty lame. There isn't very much interest in it, unfortunately.
My best friend's boyfriend actually lives in that lamda chi house. Small world EH??? Our school is less than 1% greek. And the system is getting weaker every year. It's pretty sad...But I wouldn't trade my time being an active greek for anything. I live in the north end of the city. Right at the northern edge of North York. Thornhill is across the street from my house. Where in the city are you from? |
Hi!
I live in the west end close to the campus... and gphi is so right it is getting weaker every year.. which is really sad my first year was awesome! We would be at the Madison till closing on Mondays and shut down the Brunswick house after awesome socials and meetings and all that social sister stuff.. now the maddy is lame, they brunny is still kicking.. but we would like to liven it up with Greek Week and stuff.. we are getting media attention from a couple of university papers which is good and we are trying to get our letters out... OUr greek week slogan is "Get your Greek On!" You should come by and check it out come September... |
LOL
The brunny. Yes, all who have not been, must go. Stay away from the draught beer tho. Stick to bottles there. I loved the Madison. I won't admit to loving the brunny. i will only admit to going there. When I entered greekland in my first year it was such a party. Monday's at the maddy, thursdays at the brunny and just hanging out all the days in between. It's sad to see it become less than it was... |
gphi: i'm right at the corner of thornhill and scarborough. it is a pain getting downtown, most of the time i just don't make the effort. It is a small world isn't it. I only noticed the house cuz my ex is a lamda chi....
caddd: i will! let me know when you guys are doing stuff, and i'll try and drop by or something, i'm in t.o. til mid-september Can't say that i've been to the brunny or the maddy, only eintsteins for u of t bars... ------------------ Travelling with no boundaries, moving in imaginary. |
Liv4ChiO: Please email me, I would love to meet up with you while you are in Toronto (my email is in my profile).
I work at King & University, live close to Eglinton & Bathurst! gphi2k: I wish you still worked downtown...I miss having lunch with you! caddd365: Tridelta's are great! I attended the Panhellenic Luncheon where Natalie Maniates won the TAP scholarship. I also know 2 TriDelta alumnae: Laura Knapp and Alice Thornton! Also Samantha Potes is very nice, too. Yay! Canadian Greeks! [This message has been edited by CutiePie2000 (edited August 01, 2001).] |
Maybe I don't post enough as gphi2k didn't say me...but I am a canuck too! And as Vera (SisterPlum) is very busy with wedding plans, I'll speak for her as well! She too is a crazy canuck up here in Nova Scotia.
As for myself I am an Army Brat who has lived in NS, Calgary, Trenton ONT and the big TO! I AM CANADIAN! Glad to see there is a great number of us on here! ------------------ Sarah Sister Lots-a-Heart, #9 President, Iota Beta Chi Sorority http://welcome.to/iotabetachi |
the UofT greek scene is on the decline? I heard that the administration has finally recognized greeks. Now western on the other hand...
|
Hey all!
Well we will be starting back up in early September, rush is the 3rd week of september. I will be sure to tell you when we'll be at the Maddy, it is like 10 times bigger than einsteins... brunny is just something you have to experience before you leave... especially in september it's going to be packed!!! CutiePie! Isn't Natalie the best!!! We are going to be roommates this year, she is my closest friend at ddd, and Laura K is so wonderful, Alice Thorton is awesome too... they are gems...what sorority are you in? Lil G, well we have been recognized by sac, and only as the Greek Fraternal Association, not the individual houses, but we have been getting some press coverage, which is good.. I love this! There are actually canadian greeks here! this rocks TTYL |

BOO! |
That sucks that Canada's greeks are having so much trouble with the system, especially since it seems that it was really strong at some point...why are so many administrations afraid of us? It's bizzare...

Hey all,

That'd be scary. We Canuks live in a small world EH? . I'll write more later. I like this thread. It's like a forum for Candians http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif [This message has been edited by gphi2k (edited August 01, 2001).] [This message has been edited by gphi2k (edited August 01, 2001).] |

Love that! They were Phi chpater, which was reassigned to my chapter at USC in 1940 and I always wondered where Phi came from originally! ( I must have known at some point, but forgot!) [This message has been edited by amycat412 (edited August 01, 2001).] |

Hi all!!!!
I'm a Canadian too (as Sarah mentioned!) I finally made it back on GC....as I am very busy with wedding plans (and Sarah knows that all too well...being one of my bridesmaids!!!) I'm from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia but I've lived in Toronto as well (and after my wedding I'm moving to Tallahassee, Florida!) It's great to see so many Canadian greeks here!!! I know we're missing at least one more of us, my brother Ed (zete_boy) hasn't posted yet!!!!:D:D |
scary
liv4chi0- It gets scarier than that. My best friend lives across the street from Hillmount (Mogul Drive??), and I was a teacher's helper at Hillmount when I was in Junior High.
You're freak'n me out!!!!!!! Canada isn't as big as it looks I guess.... |
Surprise, I'm Canadian too! From Windsor, ON....
The Greek system here is pretty dead(IFSC was non existent last year) but thanks to the efforts of Sigma Chi, at least some ppl have heard of greeks. The Sigma's are the most active group and are even hosting a bbq for all incoming frosh next sunday! I am always encouraging my chapter to get involved on campus too, but sometimes it seems like i'm the only one.... It's just too bad that other canadian greeks seem so far away; I've only met a couple girls when I've gone to convention.... Good Luck on recruitment |
