I Can Make You Thin! (TLC)
Near as I can tell, tapping on your cheek will make you thin. Who knew?
|
Did that show start already? I meant to check it out and figure out what the heck that guy was talking about in those ads.
|
Really. I'm tapping away, but thinking of chocolate. Is that suppose to happen?
I need to tune in because one hour each day on the treadmill isn't doing it. |
The show starts in March. I looked him up - he's a big hit in the U.K. But I think it is ultimately going to boil down to the ole "eat fewer calories, work out more" scenario. We'll see - I'm intrigued enough that I'll give it a shot.

I forgot about that! I saw a preview for the show and was curious about it. I'll be checking it out...just in case. :p
|
Special preview airing of the first show is on TLC right now.

so how was it ?? was it informative?? I always find those type of shows inspirational enough to atleast get my butt to the gym
|
I watched last night. I dunno a lot of it seemed to be just like a repeat of other shows & health plans I've seen. Eat when you're hungry, stop eating when you're full, eat slowly, drink water...blah blah blah Not so earth shattering.

#3 was Eat Consciously - put your fork and knife down, chew slowly, savor the taste. I've heard #4 (Stop when you're full) over and over again, but it's amazing how much we still eat if we see that we still have food on our plates. The blindfolded eaters test surprised me. I think I'll try that next time. I'm one of those who often watches TV or reads a book while eating. I didn't know those things were distracting me while I ate more. If it means not having to go to the gym and eating awful food, I'll try it! |

Seriously, I will have to check this one out. I love TLC |
I don't know where you guys are getting the "cheek tapping" unless I missed that part...but anyways the rules kinda make sense...I've tried to do the conscious eating a couple times since then and I actually ate less...with no tv or anything distracting me and while chewing that slowly, you really can tell when you're full or the boredom drove me to finish up...either way I left food on the plate so good deal!!!!!

Never heard of this "technique" before. But being thin is extremely overrated to me in general. I've been trying to gain like 15-20lbs for the longest time now. Maybe if I stop eating so often my metabolism will taper.

oh, to be 18 again... :D |
One thing I like - it's not extreme, it's not wacky, it's really common sense. Which, as Voltaire noted, is not so common. I'm interested in tonight's show about cravings - because OH I crave chocolate.

I haven't seen the show, but a friend was telling me about the tapping. Seems it is derived from acupuncture theories. She and her husband tried it, and it worked! I think you tap your cheek right under your eye, then your collarbone, (darn it, I forgot the other places--I'll have to ask her and report back), and then look to the right and then look to the left, both while still tapping the last spot (I think it's your hand right below your thumb). I think that's all. Anyway, you would look pretty silly doing that out in public unless only people who watch the show saw you :D!!!
