Paris Hilton to have the sorority experience

http://tv.msn.com/tv/hotgossip/2-27-08

Meanwhile, in one of those amazing coincidences that always seem to happen to Paris (e.g. the leak of her sex tape just before the debut of "The Simple Life"), it turns out her new romance [to Benji Madden] comes just as news breaks that she has another TV show in development, which makes sense given that her big-screen dreams are dust after "The Hottie & the Nottie" earned less at the box office than her weekly dog food budget.

"The show is going to be about her searching for a new best friend," a mole helpfully explains to Us. "Paris is tired of the haters and she's looking for someone new. She's looking for someone new and cool who she can trust."

(And really, what better place is there to find a friend you can truly rely on than a reality show?)

According to In Touch, Hilton will hole up in a house in Los Angeles with a gaggle of girls, who will compete to be her new BFF (drama, backstabbing and feuding to follow).

"I never got to go to college," Paris tells the mag, "and this will be my chance to be in a sorority and have that experience."

Plus, she doesn't have to bother with any of that pesky book learnin'.

Only in Paris' mind would a reality TV show about weeding out strangers to find your BFF be compared to joining a sorority.

The first person who advises her to check into Alumnae Initiation should die a painful death!

Well, at least for Alpha Delta Pi!

Question: Is a college degree necessary for AI in NPC orgs?(I presume that it is, but maybe someone can confirm.)

nittanyalum 02-28-2008 03:12 PM

If they really try to market what she's doing as a "sorority experience", I hope the NPC steps in and releases a loud and scathing denunciation of the whole mess. ;)

Never got to go?! WTF? You have STACKS of money. You could afford to go to any university you want to. You don't have to worry about eating generic super noodles to afford your books every term. If you had just put an OUNCE of effort into your own education, you COULD have gone, but you CHOSE and CONTINUE TO CHOOSE NOT TO!

grrr.

Never graduated HS or obtained a GED, would be a more appropriate statement. Forget going to college!

She and Cameron Diaz....HS drop outs.

But, didn't she tell Larry King that she was going to Africa to work for charities? That could be her philanthropy.

and hence the book title The Southern Belle Primer - or why Paris Hilton will never be a Kappa Kappa Gamma

skylark 02-28-2008 09:05 PM

^^ I wonder if Paris is aware of the retitling of this book?

ΑΓΔSquirrelGirl 02-28-2008 09:30 PM

I'm sure it'll be a local.

Scandia 02-28-2008 09:34 PM

Why did Paris Hilton drop out of high school and never got a GED? It is not due to dire straits or lack of opportunity.

SWTXBelle 02-28-2008 09:34 PM

Hey, I'd watch a reality show where she REALLY went through rush - but it would be very short-lived.

She pretty much didn't feel like going anymore and her dad and mom I guess didn't feel it was that important. Because I would have cut her off from my money the day she started talking that mess.

My guess is it would be as long as the open house round.

It could always be billed as a one day mini marathon.

PageantDiamonds 02-28-2008 11:54 PM

Please stop drinking the Haterade. Many undergrads would LURVE to have Paris as a sister.

SWTXBelle 02-28-2008 11:57 PM

Ummm . . .no. Sorority wannbes - maybe. Actual sorority women - not so much. Pretty much anyone with a sex tape = no bid. Heck, you can't even get a bid if you have raunchy myspace or facebook pages, never mind being a slut puppy/whoredog with a sex tape out there! Not to mention she isn't qualifed to be admitted to any college. Yeah, NPCs aren't much on high school drop-outs.

epchick 02-29-2008 12:14 AM

Wait...ok i'm confused now after reading other people's posts.

The idea of the "sorority experience" is only because Paris is going to be living in a house with many women (who are vying to be her bffs) NOT because she is actually going to go through sorority recruitment. Right?

likeaTREE 02-29-2008 12:24 AM

"I never got to go to college," Paris tells the mag, "and this will be my chance to be in a sorority and have that experience."

I am so sure the "woes" of life have kept her from fulfilling a college education....

Yeah that was very bad wording. She could've gone anywhere, being Paris Hilton, if she'd gotten her GED.

She won't be getting the real sorority experience, either. Like I said I bet it's a local, just because I can't see any NPC national/international being ok with that on any level. But just because they're a local doesn't mean they're going to make her a real sister and share ritual. And somehow I don't think she'll be showing up to required philanthropy events, for instance.

em_adpi 02-29-2008 04:13 AM

I'm pretty sure I've read in multiple places that Paris did earn her GED at some point.

I can't say I would be thrilled to say "Paris Hilton is my sorority sister!". Some chapters on my campus might; I hope mine would not.

AGDee 02-29-2008 07:24 AM

My interpretation of the article is that she's having a reality show like The Bachelor, but to find a best friend instead of a boyfriend and she is equating the house they will all be living in to being in a sorority, not that she will actually be living in a sorority house.

This is what I understand too. SHE implied it would be a "sorority-like" experience (showing how much she misunderstands what that is). I can't imagine ANY group (local or not) opening themselves up for the shame and ridicule that would undoubtedly follow their allowing Paris to "be" one of them.

chapelhillkappa 02-29-2008 09:38 AM

Yes,it is jut what Paris equates as a sorority. My understanding is that it is going to be just a random group of girls living together in hopes of breeding drama and so called entertainment.
