The Union Shop?
I did a search but didnt find what I was looking for...
Has anybody ever bought Greek checks from The Union Shop? http://theunionshop.com/Products/Per...ternities.html If so, how did you like them? They have an Alpha Xi Delta design, but unfortunately, no link to view it. They also have a choice for you to create your own personal checks by sending in a photo as well. Also....if you know of another site to order greek checks at, could you post the link here for me, or PM it to me? Thanks.... |
It doesn't say they are Greek-licensed, so I would be hesitant about ordering from them. Not only would it be copyright infringement, but your GLO would not be receiving any proceeds from your order (if they are not Greek-licensed).
|
My guess is that they are definitely not licensced since their checks for Phi Beta Sigma are red.
|
Okay. Fine. I get your point. They aren't licensed. How about some positive feedback with links to vendors who are licensed, rather than just criticising me?
|
Ummmmmmm, no one was criticizing you. Both cuteASAbug and I just pointed out that they weren't licensed.
If you want a place to order *licensed* Greek checks, I suggest that you check out your GLO's Web site for a list of licensed vendors. |

Which took all of two seconds to locate on my Nationals' site. Have you checked yours? |
So, according to greeklicensing, this company is licensed. However, I dont see any Greek checks. So....can I upload my own greek graphic for them to use? Or is that taboo?
|
Check with your headquarters, they should be able to tell you. Or contact the company to see if they have AXiD checks that aren't shown on the website.

well crap. I called and asked, and they said they did not have any checks available. So I asked if I could upload a graphic, and the lady I talked to checked with her supervisor who said no they could not becuase it was a violation of copyright. So I asked if they were, in fact, licensed, and she said the only thing they were licensed for was their stamps on www.expressionary.com which are super cute, but of course, they dont have AXiD.
*edit. I lied. They do have AXiD stamps. Just the picture only shows 6, but if you click on "Select Sorority" it gives a bigger list. |
That is a bummer. Someone is missing a golden opportunity.

I e-mailed Sigma Chi hq. I received an e-mail back telling me that this company is not a licensed vendor for Sigma Chi.
eta: I checked because the website was showing Sigma Chi crest and symbols as one of the choices. |
None of those have Zeta so they all suck. And not licensed = double suck.

"Fraternities File for Infringement SAN DIEGO, CA – More than 30 national and international Greek-letter organizations today filed a joint lawsuit in Southern Florida Federal Court against Greek product manufacturers and marketers Paddle Tramps Mfg. Co, The Brown Bag, joeToga, Taymark, Inc., Tervis Tumbler Company and Rah Rah Company, on charges of trademark infringement and both federal- and common-law unfair competition. The lawsuit was filed as a result of continued, unauthorized use of the Greek organizations’ protected trademarks by the six defendants. Stites & Harbison’s intellectual property group in Louisville, Kentucky, has been retained as legal counsel by the Greek organizations........ ........To date, more than 60 national and international Greek-letter organizations, representing more than 5.5 million households, proactively manage comprehensive licensing programs that grant companies approval to use their trademarks on high-quality and appropriate products and services.
