The XFL

How does everyone feel about the new XFL?
I was o.k. with it until I just heard today about the cheerleaders. I guess they are free to give mild lap dances to the fans and are encouraged to date the fans.

I just think with alcohol at these games - the owners of the XFL are just asking for trouble and one of these girls will get hurt. (oh and by the way, there will be no way in hell my husband will attend any of these events!!! ha ha!)

Does the "X" stand for x-rated?

Games start this weekend so we'll see.

You got it backwards you start with

[ b ] OR [ i ] (I'm spacing them out)
and end with

[ / b ] OR [ / b ]

You are putting down [b/]

Hope that fixes things!

Off my orig. subject but i don't care- how did you two learn to do the bold and italic? I have been wondering about this for awhile. Thanks! Sue http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

What is the XFL? I don't pay attention to sports--so I haven't heard of this.

When you post, there is a little thingie above the Smilies Legend called *UBB Code is On. Click on it and it will explain everything! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

As for the XFL. I can think of worse trash to put on the TV but, I think I'll just continue watching the Discovery channel. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/cool.gif

The guy who is the mastermind behind the WWF (McMann?) thought up The XFL - it is either the "Extreme Football League" or like a prev. post "X-rated Football League". Any guy who did not make the NFL- tried out and could become a part of the XFL. Same concept only rules are bent. Microphones are in the locker rooms, huddles, sidelines so you get all the raw edgy stuff these guys can spit out. Sexy cheerleaders on the sidelines giving all out performances, and rules don't apply - I'm sure more pain is involved too.

Actually, according to McMahon and NBC, the X doesn't stand for anything - which is obviously a load of crap, but it's a funny stand for them to take. If anyone watched the games, it wasn't very good football, but maybe it'll get better as it goes . . .

XFL- I like it so far. I didn't like the camera angles, but when they switched to the Orlando game they were better. They were better on UPN today too. The game is much faster paced, like arena league.

I'm a football nut so I will give it a chance. I can do without the shots of the cheerleaders though. yuck.

Rules- I really like the way they determine possession. Coin tosses suck! I like that they got rid of the PAT, too.

Is this true? Our local paper stated that Kurt Gouveia (a hometown guy) is playing for the XFL (I forget which team). Kurt Gouveia played for the then-L.A. Rams in the early 1990s.

Kurt Gouveia used to play for the Washington Redskins also. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

A kid that went to my High School is playing for the XFL (I'll have to get back to you on his name...I forgot LOL).
I haven't had a chance to see it, but if McMahon has anything to do with its creation I'm sure it's packed full of raunchiness, soap opera-like action with sex and violence as the main themes. Nothing that man creates surprises me. He has NO respect for women (including his own daughter who he allows to parade around on WWF). It'll be interesting to see how long it lasts.

What do you get when you cross an Alpha Omicron Pi and a Sigma Phi Epsilon? A beautiful Chi Omega!

It'll be cool to see The Rock go against the Undertaker in a football match. Wonder if they will do that. maybe bring back old school wrestler to play football, like Ricky Steamboat, Jake the Snake, the Ultimate Warrior (I herd he died?).

ZetaAce 02-05-2001 10:32 AM

Arya- The XFL is real football, not scripted, so you won't be seeing any wrestlers out there in uniforms.

Just a note: Anything the Vegas allows you to place bets for is not scripted!!! (Vegas casinos do not play around with their money! lol)

I watched a little of the first games & thought that for being their first time out that it was pretty good. It's basically just a bunch of guys who want to play football & have fun doing it. I grew up watching wrestling & it's kind of big down here so that may have something to do with my liking it. I actually thought the cheerleaders outfits were a cute idea too & they could actually dance unlike some cheerleaders, but again I grew up on wrestling so naturally i'm gonna be a little weird http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

This league was even worse than the WLAF or the USFL.
