Another Phi Mu (Delta Tau Chapter) Tragedy @ Western Kentucky
Unfortunately, a Phi Mu sister passed away over the weekend from Western Kentucky. Sally Schiller was a freshman Phi Mu @ WKU and had a car accident on I-65 while driving home to Nashville (Franklin, TN) on Friday night.
I have known Sally since she was about 5 years old... she went to my grade school, then to the same high school, and then this year pledged Phi Mu (and I couldn't have been more excited!). She was an absolutely amazing young woman and will be greatly missed by all of those who knew her, and she was definitely taken too soon. This is the 2nd tradedy for the ladies of Delta Tau, as they lost 3 members in another car accident about 3 or 4 years ago. Just keep Sally's family in your thoughts and prayers, as well as the WKU greek community... |

chapter address anyone? I remember the car accident about 3 years ago on the way to Leadership Conference. That was an awful time for Phi Mu. |
My prayers are with the chapter, how sad.

My prayers are with her family and friends. It's a tragic loss.

Here is a link to the story just published in the WKU newspaper. It's all very very sad.
Her parents did make the decision to donate all of her organs, as it was a head injury which caused her(most likely) to pass. It is comforting, in some ways, to know that a little piece of her will live on through others... http://www.wkuherald.com/home/index....0-328efa3c8beb "to keep forever sacred the memory of those we have loved, and lost" - Creed of Phi Mu |
I am very sorry to hear this! I'm sure she was a wonderful young woman.
That stretch is very bad. Hubby and I witnessed a fatal accident a couple of years ago where a U-haul van hit another vehicle and burst into flames. |
What a tragedy - how much can one chapter take? My sincere sympathy to the family, friends & sisters of Sally Schiller.

So very sad. My condolences and good wishes are with her family and sisters. :(

Wow, I was up in that area all weekend and heard nothing about it :( A very tragic thing indeed.
|
i am so sorry to learn of this sad news. prayers to all concerned.

my thoughts go out to all my sisters at the Delta Tau chapter and the family of the young lady that passed away. I heard about this last night from some of my local sisters who know many girls from that chapter, indeed it is very tragic.

How very sad. Her family and sisters are in my thoughts and prayers.
|
How sad. I remember when the chapter lost women a few years ago.

Man...it's been a rough year for Greeks with all of these accidents. So sorry to hear of this loss (and all others). :(

How very sad - I'm from Franklin, TN - my prayers with her family and sisters.

That's so horrible. I still have my Delta Tau ribbon that our chapter wore with our badges when the other 3 sisters passed.

Just an update... I wasn't able to attend the funeral mass yesterday afternoon that was held in Nashville, but my best friends' mom (who was also Sally's kindergarten teacher) was there and we got an update from her. She said that it was the most touching service she's ever been too. It was at Cathedral of the Incarnation in Nashville and she said she has never seen it so full... probably 700-800 people there, standing room only. The Phi Mu sisters from WKU came down on buses from Bowling Green and a girl that Sally has gone to school with from K-12 (who was also one of my "kids" at the grade school when I worked there) gave the eulogy. So, it seems that it was a wonderful celebration (but of course full of sadness). From how it sounds, if I go out with half of the respect, admiration and love that people had for her, I'll be doing OK...
