Lipstick Jungle
Is anyone watching this? I'm flipping between it & Dr. Drew -- I kinda like it! (the young buck tempting the girl from 24 to cheat on her husband is yummy)
And Andrew McCarthy is in it! And he's hitting on the girl from 90210. Flashbacks, left and right. |
I watched. It was pretty good. Not as 'yay my life in new york is wonderful' ga-ga stuff as I thought it would have, and for that I'm glad and will probably watch again.
|
I will watch again, but I was not wowed. But this is the first ep so I have to tune in again to give it a fair shot.
I was shocked that the hubby (sorry I don't remember any names) didn't notice the phone number written on his wife's thigh. It was written all the way down her leg. |
This show is being hyped as the "next Sex and the City." It's an okay show, but not the next SATC by any means.
|
I really wanted to like it, but I'm not sure if I'll watch it again. It's only halfway through the episode and I'm already not very interested in the characters. The whole thing is kinda contrived.
|
I have to join the lipstick jungle thread....I grew up with the "sexy 25 year old hunk" (he is actually 26) in Lisptick jungle.. His real name is Robert Buckley and he was quite the stud at Claremont High School in Claremont, CA... Anyways, my name is Ben Adelson and I am the owner of [company plug removed] and we work with sororities across the country designing their t-shirts.. We are offering free long sleeve shirts and hoodies on all orders... Call us today!

I absolutely loved this show! I didn't think I would, because I hated Sex in the City and it's written by the same woman, but I gave it a shot anyway and I am glad that I did!
I love the characters and the actors...pretty much everything about this show is great. I laughed out loud when Lindsay Price's character said, "ooh, come here, this fixes cold and bitter." :D Can't wait for next week! |
I call SPAM!!!

That doesn't negate the spam factor, though. I TiVo'd Lipstick Jungle. Can't wait to see it. I love Lindsay Price. |
I liked it. They ran it again this morning on USA. Much better than Cashmere Mafia--which seems similar. I will probably watch it again.
|
See, I'm feeling Cashmere Mafia more than this show. They have similar themes, I guess I just felt like I could relate to the Cashmere Mafia women better (even though I don't have a high power job, their family issues felt more real to me).
|
Hmmm...I felt the dialogue was stilted and the characters do not seem to have a lot of chemistry. Granted, I did not watch the whole show, it was sort of unbearable to me.

i'm having trouble figuring out where this series picks up after the book leaves off. maybe i'm expecting too much, but i'm not impressed. i AM however hugely on the CM bandwagon... maybe because i'm going to that show with a clean slate?
|
So is CM really that much better? Because I've only watched this show and I enjoy it.
|
Bumping an old thread....Has anyone been watching this season???
|
I have but it's been bumped to Friday nights.
|
Since CM was canceled by stinking rotten ABC, I'm watching Lipstick Jungle. I record it and watch it when I get around to it. One week it was on both Wed and Fri, wasn't it?
|
I really enjoy this show. I really hope that the move to Friday isn't the nail in the cancellation coffin.

The "Cancellation Coffin" has arrived

Well....POOP! :(
|
It was kind of obvious when they moved it to Friday night

Jericho fans know how you all feel...lol.
|
They never really gave this show a chance. It had a VERY short first season due to the Writer's Strike, and they trotted it out against ABC's Cashmere Mafia so the potential fanbase was split. Then, they order a second season but after only 3-4 episodes and little publicity, they move it to Friday and then immediately cancel it.
|
That's how I felt when ABC cut Cashmere Mafia after only 5 or 6 episodes. I really feel like network TV stations are ignoring the female viewing audience totally. Other than Grey's, Brothers & Sisters and Desperate Housewives, I can't find much to watch anymore, other than reality shows (Survivor, Amazing Race, Dancing with the Stars, Idol)

Victory Ford is the hottest thing on TV.

Well dammit... LCJ was one of my wife's favorite shows... and I've been known to watch as well... every single episode... :)

Apparently now it might NOT be canceled? |

I watched what they called the "season" finale tonight and it sure looked like it could have been the series finale from the ending. Has anybody heard anything new about this one?
|

UPDATE: Just emailed the Entertainment Editor about it and she said that it's not been picked up again, nor has it been officially canceled. But in all likelihood it's gone. Booo. I just wrote to NBC and complained. |
oh, the show is definitely dead... you can tell by that overly emotional silly montage at the ending
|
The NBC president recently made a statement in which Lipstick J. is not dead, but on the board of possibilities for next season. It all depends on the pilots they have up for next season...

That and I'd like to see Friday night tv come back. Granted I'm not 8 anymore, so a TGIF line-up isn't my style, but I love Friday Night Lights and NUMBERS on Friday night, so Lipstick Jungle can join them as far as I'm concerned. |
