I forgot the story about the person in the coffin. Can someone refresh my memory?

JJ Abrams is responsible for both. He's known for recycling actors so I'm not surprised he's recycling other things as well.

Jack's dad was in the coffin. Was there some other coffin too?

I knew which coffin you were referencing. I just couldn't remember the details behind it. He saw the obituary in the paper. Kate was surprised that he was interested.

My roommate has a theory, and she doesn't even watch the show! She's just seen a few episodes with me. She thinks that everyone who goes to the boat will die. Kate and Jack will survive because they are off looking for Juliet. Desmond, Sawyer, Huey, and whoever else is with them will survive because they're still on the shore discussing Charlie.

I saw a screencap of the guy in the cabin. Pretty freaking surprising when I realized who it is!

Wasn't that "Jacob"? Remember how Locke "saw" him and Ben was pi$$ed off that Locke had the ability to "see" Jacob so he attacked him and chucked him in the pit with all of the rotting Dharma bodies?

^I was fully expecting Jack to just shoot Ben at that point.

It was not Jacob. It was Dr. Christian Shepard, Jack's dad in the cabin.

So far, Hurley, Jack, and kate are the only ones we see in flash forwards that made it home...so who are the other three? AND WTF happened to Walt and son??

Desmond and Juliet are not survivors of Oceanic 815 - they came to the island though other means. They could survive, get off the island, and not be counted in the "Oceanic 6"

Yeah, and we know some people are left on the island after the Oceanic 6 come back. Hurley, Jack, and Kate keep talking about people left behind (or something like that).

Wtf is this stuff about the obituary/coffin? I don't remember any of that. Was it at the end of the last season?

And how could Jack's dad = Jacob?? (For the record, Locke heard Jacob, he didn't see him.)

Yes, the season finale dealt with Jack's learning about someone's death. He goes to the funeral/visitation only to find that no one else attended. We still don't know who was in the coffin (although we can deduce that Kate is not).

I don't think Jack's dad = Jacob. I think the island has a way of using people who have died to pass along messages to those who are still living (Yemi, for example). I think somehow Christian is being used as a messenger of some kind. I also think that's how/why we can still see Charlie (even though he isn't on the island). And, I also think that's why Ben specified that, if Jack called Naomi's boat, "every living person on the island would be killed."

I am surprised no one has looked at these sights yet....

I was reading all the stuff over on The Fuselage.

POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT!!! Do not highlight if you don't want to see the upcoming episodes, the Oceanic 6, and who may *possibly* die.

The Oceanic 6: Kate, Jack, Hurley, Sayid, Sun, and possibly Jin.

Episode guide:

4.1 - The Beginning Of The End - Hurley flash forward
4.2 - Confirmed Dead - Freighter people flashback
4.3 - The Economist - Sayid flash forward
4.4 - Eggtown - Kate flash forward
4.5 - The Constant - Desmond flashback
4.6 - The Other Woman - Juliet flashback
4.7 - Ji Yeon - Sun/Jin flash forward
4.8 - Meet Kevin Johnson - Michael flashback

The 4.7 episode promises to be interesting because the rumor is that up until the end, we think both Sun & Jin make it off the island but in reality, Sun makes it out and Jin is dead. The title, Ji Yeon, is the name of their baby.

It's rumored that the next main character death will be either Jin or Claire because another rumor is that Claire dies leaving Kate to raise Aaron. Aaron is the "him" that Kate was referring to when she told Jack that "he" would be wondering where she was at.

Also, we find out that the freighter people in next week's episode are looking for Ben because he was a spy. There are some pictures posted of one of the freighter folks holding a picture of Ben and showing it to Jack.

Take the rumor & speculation with a grain of salt because who knows if it's true or not but the episode guide definitely tells us who else makes it off the island.

Walt is the son, Michael is the dad. :)

How do you guys "see" this stuff? I taped the episode and I still couldn't make out that it was Christian Shepard...the only way that I could see it was to go to the screen capture on Lostpedia.

Kinda like how Ecko saw all those visions in the black cloud monster...I rewound and watched umpteen times. Did I see anything? Nope. Maybe I should stop using ancient VCR tapes (LOL).

P.S. Besides "hearing" Jacob, didn't Locke also kinda see the shadowy outline of Jacob? I think he did.

Has anyone done Part I yet where you are at Sam's desk and you compare the 2 pictures of Sonya? I seem to think that the thing that's "not right" is that the computer photo has a mole and in the photo of the "real" Sonya, which Sam had in a frame, she doesn't appear to have a mole. Please Losties, help me work on this one!

I think it's a "fake" plane, so that people will think that everyone is dead and "give up" the search & then the evil Dharma people or whoever can move in on the island and exterminate all the survivors, or whatever it is that they plan to do.

I called it, baby!!!

Edited a day later: I just realized that Dharma people were not actually evil from everything that we saw. They were just some scientists trying to research stuff. It was the "Others" in the forest who "possessed" Ben and in Ben, they found an ally to exterminate the Dharma people.
