Upcoming U of D Colony Events!!!

Lovely sisters-

I wanted to give an update and share upcoming dates related to the colony at U of D in case anyone on here lives close enough to want to join us for festivities :)

We have selected advisors and I trained them last weekend and I'm currently seeking out mentor advisors from other U of D Panhellenic groups to help them learn the "U of D" ropes.

Meanwhile here are the upcoming events:

Monday, February 5th-Leadership Consultant Jessica moves to U of D!!

Friday, February 15th- ADPi will be participating in the first round of Panhellenic formal recruitment (their Open House round)- this is two nights and we're assigned to the first night (Friday). Notice, this also falls on the date of District III's District Leadership Conference so we are currently seeking alumnae and collegians nearby who will not be going to DLC that can attend recruitment. Parties start around 6pm (if you cannot be there right at start time, please still consider coming anyway). If you can attend, PM me and I can provide details on what to wear and where this event will be held.

Last week in February- PR begins on campus for ADPi.

Sunday, March 9th- First night of ADPi recruitment; held from 4pm-6pm; this will be an open house style with alumnae and collegians and the colony team present (including members of Grand Council) talking with the PNMs and actually getting them signed up for interviews.

Monday through Wednesday- interviews conducted by colony team and Council

Tuesday, March 11th- Philanthropy Round- start time 7pm- this will showcase the Ronald McDonald House with emphasis on the Wilmington RMH (very close to U of D); here we'll again need alumnae and collegians to help talk with PNMs, do the craft etc.

Thursday, March 13th- Bid Day!

Friday, March 14th- Alpha Ceremony- we'll need some nearby alumnae and collegians to help take our new members through the Alpha ceremony. Given our estimated Alpha member class of 120, you can imagine how long this will take without help!!

Saturday, March 15th- Colony Retreat

May 2nd- Officer Installation

May 3rd- Initiation- here the Council and the Colony Team will definitely need local alumnae and collegians to help as we initiate the entire colony; that night will be the Chapter Installation Banquet

As usual, we will be collecting notes and gifts for the colony members, so if you haven't already donated your gently used ADPi stuff that you don't need anymore, please consider giving it to a future U of D sister :)

PM me if you have any questions or can help out!

I'll post updates as we go along but we're very excited!

Loyally,
adpideltaup

Sidenote - the LC coming there is absolutely AMAZING! Give her a huge hug when she gets there - she really made an impact on the girls I'm working with!

Wish I could come help with all the festivities, but we're looking forward to all the details as they can be shared! :)

Yes! Our AA is preparing part of the Colonization tomorrow morning!

adpideltaup 02-03-2008 12:05 AM

Did you mean preparing door decs for part of the colony? I know that Pittsburgh, Wilmington and Boston are all going to help make door decorations... so I assume that's what you meant?

If there are other Associations that check on here and would like to make door decorations as well... then we're looking for 120+ of the same pattern...
so far I think we have a lion and diamonds... would love someone out there to have an easy violet pattern that they could do :)

We're doing 140 of the violet ones! Pam & Jennie got them all cut out - tomorrow we decorate them, then the collegiates will bring them to District Workshop.

There is a huge possibility that I am moving to the area (I am not going to say where just yet) in April. If I do, then I will definitely be there for Initiation. :)

FirstAndFinest 02-05-2008 10:38 PM

I wish I could make it on the 15th!! I'm pretty darn sure I can make it 3/9. I'm going to mark 5/3 as a "no travel" date on my work schedule so no trips suddenly appear.

adpideltaup 02-14-2008 12:29 PM

Tomorrow night starts our Launch at U of D :) We enter first round of PH recruitment and then drop off with our own recruitment then starting on March 9th!! Collegian and alumnae are attending tomorrow night since many of the District Team and officers of chapters will be at DLC-

But we definitely ask collegians and alumnae from everywhere to come and help us for March 9th and 11th events- so if you can help, please contact me :)

em_adpi 02-14-2008 10:06 PM

Jessica is going to be the LC there??? Awesome! She came to visit our chapter during recruitment and I thought she was great. :)

texas*princess 02-20-2008 10:37 PM

any update on how the first round of FR went ?

adpideltaup 02-20-2008 10:52 PM

Friday night- first round of Panhellenic recruitment went very well- we had chapter women come from Alpha Pi, Delta Rho, Eta Chi, Beta Phi, Eta Pi, Zeta Xi and Eta Omicron- and we had all the advisors there and alumnae from both the Wilmington DE and Philadelphia PA associations- we got a lot of questions from PNMs about what their chances would be if they went through ADPi recruitment. U of D recruitment finishes up this coming weekend and then our PR starts up in full tilt mode!!

BBelleADPi 02-21-2008 09:36 AM

This is so exciting. Congrats and kudos to all of our alum who have worked
so hard for our sisterhood!

adpideltaup 03-04-2008 11:26 PM

VERY well :) Think of us all as we start the recruitment process on Sunday night!!!

FirstAndFinest 03-06-2008 07:45 AM

I'm SO excited for this week!! I just got in touch with another alumna whom I'd met about 4 years ago at a NYC alum event. That makes five of us coming on SUN! I'll have to rent a car (er, bus) if any more want to carpool with us! :D

FirstAndFinest 03-09-2008 09:36 AM

I'm soo glad the rain has stopped! Although its cold today, the sun will make for some smooth sailing - er, driving - to DE today. :D

texas*princess 03-09-2008 11:56 AM

Safe travels F&F!

Please keep us posted on how things are going at UD!!

em_adpi 03-09-2008 01:42 PM

FirstAndFinest 03-10-2008 06:53 AM

It was amazing! HUGE turnout of PNMs.

Had a blast travelling to/fro too! Singing, chatting, etc - now I'm bummed that I don't have more sisters going with me on TUE.

em_adpi 03-10-2008 11:13 AM

This was stuck in my head all day, too, after I read your post. :)

It was another great turnout last night! Philanthropy night so the director of the Wilmington RMH came to speak - and her daughter is a recent alum from Zeta Rho chapter! Then - RONALD came & entertained the crowd with some tricks!! :D

I went with a Delta from ASU (or is it UofA? Arizona something... sorry :o) and she met the expansion team. They got her even more excited for the recolonization at DG chapter in the Fall!

Got into bed about 11:30 which is waaaaaay past my bedtime. I am so tired right now.... just like formal recruitment! ;)

If she's a Delta, she's likely at ASU (Gamma Rho chapter). Delta Gamma will be returning to U of Arizona (which I *know* ASUADPi is super stoked about ;))

texas*princess 03-13-2008 09:07 PM

Soooo today was bid day...

texas*princess 03-13-2008 09:46 PM

... and I think we will also need an address to send cards, etc. to the new colony :)

from our website

Story Here

This week, Alpha Delta Pi held a very successful colonization recruitment at the University of Delaware. The week began with an information session on Sunday. Throughout the week, more than 250 women interested in membership were interviewed and 116 bids were extended (the maximum allowed by Panhellenic). A copy of the new colony's bid day photo is attached. Congratulations to all of the new members; and a special thank you to all of the nearby collegians and alumnae who helped with our efforts!

There's also a pic of the new baby lions!
