A junior transfer recruitment story!!!
Hey all you lurkers and GCers!!! Finally I can post my story, Bid day was sunday and all of my dreams came true!!! I want to post my story to let all of the girls who are considering rushing as a junior or transfer know that you can find a home in the greek community just be yourself!!!!! My school is the best in the midwest (LOL) we hold formal recruitment in the winter, there are open house dates and three rounds Getting to Know You, Philanthropy Round, and Preference Round then BID DAY!!!!. We have 14 lovely chapters at our school and recs don't really make or brake you as long as you have a great personality and a strong GPA! Open houses begin in November for two days then continue after winter break in January. For my story I will post one open house and each of the rounds, since I have an addictive passion for fashion I will give each sorority a name of my favorite designer or brand!!!

Open House
Kate Spade- Love this house, girls were nice. Had a great conversation with a sophmore who was in my major so the conversation flowed. Accidentally left my notebook in their house (NOT SMART) Betsey Johnson-Not my kind of girls, my rusher seemed a little too superficial in the conversation but nice girl, seemed a little spacey which turned me off. The house is huge and gorgeous!! Not a big fan of their campus reputation however Im also not a fan of rumors so I gave this house a fair chance. Gucci-Love the girls I met and the house is a dream!!! The girl I talked to was sooo nice and we had some good laughs she even gave me a lil "i heart u " hug haha which made me feel like I had a shot at that house, even as a junior which was not the norm apparently. Marc Jacobs-Didnt have a really good conversation with the girl because the other PNM I was with was actually rude and left abrubtly during our group conversation which made me and the girl who was rushing me uncomfortable. My rushee was a little more easy going with the conversation towards the end but I felt bad because I totally mispronnounced her name trying to thank her and say goodnight lol. FCUK-Liked the house and my rusher was sweet but the other girls gave me some weird looks when I walked in which made me feel awkward and not a fan of this house. Ralph Lauren-Skipped this house because I had a really hyper rushee whose eyes couldnt stop twitching and it freaked me out the last time I went to their open house event. Fendi-Didnt like the house itself but the girls were nice, a little too sporty for me I definatley a girlie girl:) Juicy-Every girl I met was very warm and welcoming but the conversations just seemed....awkward. Coach-Girls were nice but seemed slightly desperate for pnms, they are a medium size chapter so I guess their recruitment isnt as strong as others, I liked the house it was beautiful. Prada-Love this sorority, girls were awesome, I met so many of them and I really felt like they actually liked me!! I didnt want to leave the house!! Anna Sui- Loved this sorority most of all, met a lot of girls who I easily clicked with and their house definatley felt like I home, I came to this house the most and stayed the longest for each open house day. House of Dereon- This house was okay. The girl I talked to was not that interesting so I kind of talked about myself alot and she seemed overly impressed with what I was saying. Vera Wang-I heart this house, the girls are so nice and they all reminded me of people I went to high school with, which was kind of weird but in a cool way if that makes any sense lol. Even though I liked all the girls I just couldnt see myself being a part of their sorority. Charlotte Russe-Love this sorority, all the girls I met were amazing, we all seemed to have so much in common, I definatley loved their house and felt so comfortable talking with them...the girl I met at the door gave me a lil "i heart u" hug too which was great I totally felt like I could be a part of their sisterhood. |

Getting To Know You Round
Prada Gucci Anna Sui Fendi Charlotte Russe Vera Wang Juicy House of Dereon Coach Coach-Loved the icebreaker, I talked to the Philanthropy chair who was nice and very interested in my leadership positions which made the conversation flow. Charlotte Russe- I made everyone laugh in the game so I think that helped me get noticed. I loved the girl I talked to and even though I was with two other PNMs she seemed more interested in what I had to say even though another PNM tried to dominate the conversation because she and the rusher were from the same hometown House Of Dereon-Surprisingly I liked this sorority a lot! The girls were so nice and everyone loved my shoes hehe. Their game was fun it was like never have I ever...very memorable. Gucci-Loved this round with these girls once again, the game was fun we ate LOTS of candy! The girls loved my questions and we had a lot in common so I stood out in my PNM group. Anna Sui-Had the best time, everyone was all impressed with my little game answer which made me feel good haha. I met a lot more of the girls and even got to know some of the other ones better! I was feeling really good about this house! Vera Wang- Had fun playing games at this house and had a good conversation with a girl who was a singer and loved musical theatre like me! Fendi-The game was fun but the conversation was not that great this time. I had the same girl and all she ever talked about was sports! I mean I love my football and basketball but come on!!! Juicy-The game wasnt that great but I had a good conversation with the president, She was so nice and cute I loved her but I just didnt feel that click like I felt at some of the other houses. Prada- game was long and fun but I think I may have talked too much because I was so excited to have this house on my schedule. The new girls I met were nice and I talked and got to know better some of the same girls that rushed me in the open house rounds also. Philanthropy Round
My Schedule Gucci Vera Wang Charlotte Russe House of Dereon Coach Anna Sui- Love their philanthropy so much! Video almost brought me to tears!! I had a great conversation with their girl I met, I also saw some familiar faces who were happy to see me which really made me feel welcomed! They had the best finger food cucumber sandwiches and cheesecake to die for!!! Gucci- Had a really good conversation with 5 girls. we made ribbons and I almost stabbed myself!! Loved this house once again and I really wanted them for Pref! Vera Wang-I liked this house a lot this time because I met a girl who had the so much in common with me it actually...kind of scary lol but no I had a lot of fun at this house and the girls I met before remembered me and the conversations...I was very impressed! Charlotte Russe- Loved their philanthropy as well, I met a lot more girls this time and had some excellent chocolate covered strawberries (always a favorite).. My first rusher and her little and I made blankets and talked about how much we loved fashion so needless to say the conversation was great! House of Dereon- Had a good conversation even though I SUCKED at making their craft for their philanthropy, it wasnt a big deal though because all the girls were so nice to me so I was totally comfortable even though I didnt really see myself in this house. Coach- The girl I talked to was kind of standoffish at first but as I led the conversation more she felt more at ease (rushers are nervous too i guess) so it wasnt so bad. I liked their philanthropy because it had a personal connection, however I didnt really feel like I would be proud to be a member of that house, not that they arent fabulous, they just arent my type I guess. Preference Round
My Schedule Anna Sui Vera Wang Charlotte Russe Charlotte Russe- I absolutley LOVED this round! I got all teared up when the seniors sang their beautiful song. I felt so at home here and I made some really good connections with my rushers from other rounds and I met a few new girls who were super nice and fun to talk to! Vera Wang- I talked to the same girl I had for philanthropy round as well as the president who shared something quite special with me that I will never forget. I enjoyed their ceremony and I really felt like they wanted me to be a part of their sisterhood. Anna Sui-When I walked in the house, something in the vibe of the room just felt like home to me. Every girl knew my name and was really interested in meeting and talking to me. The girl who rushed me was awesome we talked about absoultely everything! I was having so much fun I didnt want it to be over! The seniors sang and did a candlelighting which was very touching. I liked this house so much I had some tough decisions that night! *The choices are getting SO hard because everyone is so great I seriously would have been happy in any of these three houses! Selections Rank 3 1. Anna Sui 2.Charlotte Russe Notice I only ranked two, after some long and HARD thinking I decided that I would only truly be happy in either of those two houses. I was rushing to find sisterhood, not just a sorority so I didnt think it was fair to put down a house just for the sake of "maximizing my options" I just had to go with what I felt was real. And honestly I reccomend every PNM do the same thing. |
