OMG....SNOW in Alabama

Ok guys this is soooo funny! This may not be worthy of its own thread, but this hasn't happened since 1993! LMAO

I am watching all of the people on Fox 6 going to Clanton, Calera, Valleydale to get on the news and it is funny. AL peeps lets enjoy this while it last.....ti won't happen again for another 15 years:D!

I'm in Birmingham too—what little snow there was is gone. People around here are such sissies about winter weather. :)

The storm of '93, on the other hand ...

1908Revelations 01-19-2008 02:51 PM

You are sooo right. I saw on the news all of the people that were going to Piggly Wiggly (the one near southside/Mountain Brook near the interstate) and I was thinking.....OH hell no!!!

ZTABullwinkle 01-19-2008 03:05 PM

That storm is heading our way in Hampton Roads, VA. Normally, we only see snow when the circus is in town, so hopefully it will be more talk than anything. People around here started panicking yesterday when the winter advisory was announced. People around here can't drive anyways, so the snow will make it worse. At least my Saint Bernard will get to see some snow, hope he likes it.

I feel you guys..... it's snowing in North Carolina. Normally we get snow with frequency in the Western part of the state but today it's pretty much snowing everywhere.

Enjoy it while it lasts. Our snow melted some hours ago.:(

These are my snow people on top of my car::)

It snowed here in Atlanta on Wednesday and then AGAIN today. The media is saying that it hasn't snowed like this since 2004.

SWTXBelle 01-19-2008 07:58 PM

Snow everywhere BUT HERE!!!!:(

We drove to Atlanta today to see "Cats" at the Fox. It was surreal! Heavy snow all the way into Atlanta and while we were fighting our way into the theatre. Now it's almost gone but at least my younger kids and husband had a good time playing in it while we were gone.

joliebelle 01-19-2008 08:23 PM

it snowed back home in SC this week, and i'm insanely jealous. no snow anywhere in jacksonville :(

It was beautifully surreal to see snow falling in Atlanta. I hadn't driven in snow in probably 12 years.

Just amazing to get snow twice in one week so early in the year. We didn't get anything in '06 when I was teaching and just praying for snow so we'd get a snow day.

If y'all are so excited about winter now would be a lovely time to visit Minnesota. Have we got a winter for you!

I prefer occasional snow with my mild winters. ;)

Thetagirl218 01-19-2008 10:37 PM

Why can't it just move down a little further south and snow in FL!!! :)

We had invited a couple over for dinner and Phase 10 card game but due to the weather, they cancelled. So, we called our neighbors. They were in a great mood because grandma will be moving out of their house after 7 years. The couple's 2 grown children had been out of the house for a while so now it's their turn for some well-deserved alone time!

Also, due to the weather, I cancelled the belated birthday lunch with my sis-in-law so I don't have to drive to her house today and come back tomorrow.

Yea...2 days of freedom where I all I have to do is to pack up CA and house stuff to move!:D

now you STOP the madness with all that. really though?

i think its funny that snow was predicted for a good part of NYC this weekend, yet it has been mild all weekend. hell, it is bright and sunny out! birds chirping and what not.

but yeah, snow in the south would scare me if i wasnt used to it. many of my college classmates who were from places where it didnt snow were either excited or freaked out when it would snow.

i do remember one girl from Jamaica when i was in high school, she CRIED the first time it snowed. we all laughed, but that made it worse.
