*bump*
I just noticed Nu Alpha Kappa listed on the NIC member list. I don't remember them being on there before. Does anyone know if they were recently added, or did I previously miss them? |
That's interesting... the NIC lists Nu Alpha Kappa as a member organization, but NAK's national website only indicates their membership in the National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations, Inc. (NALFO).
|
^^^ Yea, I noticed that. They withdrew from NALFO when my organization did, though.

Nu Alpha Kappa
From the NIC's Spring 2009 The Standard.
Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity Inc. Takes NIC to Record Membership Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity, Inc will be formally seated by NIC Chairman Bob Marchesani on April 18, at the Annual Meeting of the NIC House of Delegates in Washington, DC; however, the NIC’s 73rd member fraternity was approved for full membership in the Conference on December 5, 2008. With Nu Alpha Kappa, Inc., total NIC membership increases to 73, the largest membership in the history of our association. Nu Alpha Kappa was founded February 26, 1988 at California Polytechnic University, in San Luis Obispo, on the values of academic excellence, cultural knowledge, and true brotherhood. Nu Alpha Kappa recognizes 20 collegiate chapters across California, Colorado, and Nevada. The fraternity is represented by National President Victor Burrola and an 11-member National Executive Committee. President Burrola commented Nu Alpha Kappa’s membership saying, “We are excited to work with our fellow NIC member fraternities to advance initiatives that positively impact the interf raternal movement. Nu Alpha Kappa is committed to providing a diverse perspective to ensure students are heard from all walks of life.” NIC President & CEO, Peter Smithhisler welcomed the fraternity. “Our interfraternal organization is stronger thanks to the membership of Nu Alpha Kappa,” he said. “The NIC continues to reflect the cultural diversity that is so vibrant on today’s campus.” Membership in the NIC is open to any general college fraternity that complies with the agreed upon standards of membership and meets the minimum requirements. Inquiries regarding NIC membership may be directed to NIC Headquarters. President Burrola may be reached via email at president@naknet.org. |
