Most NPC groups on any campus
Of the 26 NPC sororities, interestingly no school has ever had a chapter of all of them.
According to my count, three universities have had all but one: Illinois is missing Alpha Sigma Tau Penn State is missing Alpha Sigma Tau Syracuse is missing Sigma Sigma Sigma Three more universities have had 24: U.C.L.A. is missing Alpha Sigma Tau & Sigma Sigma Sigma Indiana is missing Alpha Sigma Tau & Phi Sigma Sigma Ohio State is missing Alpha Sigma Tau & Sigma Sigma Sigma Penn State, Indiana & Illinois have the most currently active at 20, 19 & 18. Am I missing any other school with a high percentage of groups, or have I missed a chapter anywhere? |
Interesting stuff. Thanks for posting it!

WOW!

Oldu, I have compiled a list with all of the NPC ever on every campus that has ever had them. It is located here. You may enjoy looking at it.

Double wow!!! Your list represents a lot of work.
I found another two schools that have had all but three: Miami (Ohio) - missing Delta Phi Epsilon, Phi Sigma Sigma & Theta Phi Alpha Michigan - missing Alpha Sigma Alpha. Alpha Sigma Tau & Sigma Sigma Sigma |
Wow! Irishpipes & oldu, I think y'all should collaborate, and put out an updated Baird's Manual! The last update was in 1991, if I remember properly.

:( Sad. But not surprising that it's AST and Tri Sig, as we're both sororities focused primarily on former teaching schools.

What blows my mind about that is the fact that Syracuse has had all the NPC groups but one there, and they only have 12 now. That means they've had 13 leave.

There may be others, but as far as I can recall, there are (at least) nine other national organizations that at one time belonged to the NPC. All of which either disbanded or merged with/were acquired by another NPC organization.
Alpha Delta Theta Beta Phi Alpha Beta Sigma Omicron Delta Sigma Epsilon Iota Alpha Pi Phi Omega Theta Pi Kappa Sigma Theta Sigma Upsilon Theta Upsilon So if you were to add these nine to the current twenty-six NPC organizations, I wonder which campuses would have had the most chapters out of thirty-five (26 current NPCs plus 9 former NPCs). |

Anyone with a Bairds would be appreciated!

I've got almost all of them. (1 to 4 and 10 to 20) I can do some checking if you'd like.
Anyone know the years for any of those 9 organizations. That would really help! |

ETA: I think the reason I have earlier dates is becuase both Beta Phi Alpha and Theta Upsilon had some incarnations as "clubs" prior to becoming a sorority and taking on letters. |

If you add the defunct groups to the list:
1 32 University of Illinois ** 2 29 University of California, Los Angeles Miami University 4 28 Ohio State University 5 27 Pennsylvania State University Syracuse University 7 26 University of California, Berkley Indiana University ** It could be 33 because Delta Sigma Epsilon had a colony at Illinois when the merger with Delta Zeta took place. I don't know if it was chartered first or was just absorbed in as pledges. Maybe someone can shed some light. |
As a Penn State Alum, can I also add that we do not have currently
-Alpha Sigma Tau (except at PSU Altoona) -Theta Phi Alpha (except at PSU Berks) -Delta Phi Epsilon -Phi Sigma Sigma -Alpha Gamma Delta I just graduated in May but, if you look at the Penn State NPC site you will notice it looks as though we have more NPCs because we allowed Alpha Phi Omega's sister sorority Omega Phi Alpha join us, along with Phi Sigma Rho (engineering sorority) and I think Gamma Sigma Sigma joined, as well. We used to have all of the above sororities at Penn State (I looked through some old yearbooks in our sorority suite and saw we did) but, because of low membership in some of them-they were dissolved on our campus....I would like to see all of them come back to Penn State (University Park), though.....we have too many chapters struggling (numbers wise) because only a small percentage of PSU is Greek (like 11% of the entire campus).... |

Phi Sigma Sigma does not list a chapter ever at Indiana University, Bloomington. Perhaps it was a colony that did not survive to chartering. However, they do list charters at IU Southeast, South Bend & Kokomo. Perhaps a Phi Sig could enlighten us.
