cool summer fun
 

since we had a summertime blahs post i'd thought some of us might want to share some of the cool and intresting things we may have done, had hapen to you, or just random stuff. as for me my life has been about stienhoists (parties), cliff diving, and various random adventures

The highlight of my summer so far has been the Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute at Purdue University. It was 5 days of intense leadership training, and has so far been my best Greek experience. It was amazing. Other than that I have been living it up at the house all summer, just hanging out and working 7 nights a week. Could be worse, but could be a hell of a lot better.

Tubeing, lots of TV, ROADTRIPS! Austin, Mexico, Dallas, Houston. Something to do, ya know...

Lifesaver, where are you at? Your profile said the heart of Texas, and I am about 30 miles from the actual "geographic heart of Texas". Anyways just glad to see another Texan on the board.

SigTauJake, when did you go to UIFI? I went too, June 2-6 at Purdue. I totally agree with you. It is amazing. I can't wait to bring things back to my campus!

i just went to Vegas for a couple days to visit relatives (couldn't gamble though http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif so i actually LOST money shopping). We had some crazy adventures there. I have also been working hard and during the day watching movies I brought back from work...had my sex and the city marathon the otehr day where i rented all 3 dvds of the second season, lol. Also been chilling w/ my high school friends whom I haven't seen in forever... I have yet to go partying though!

I just won concert tickets to see the lead singer of Men at Work from an 80s radio station in St. Louis and four passes to Have a Nice Day Cafe http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif. Thats bout the most exciting thing this summer, besides finishing an internship at the Post-Dispatch.

Last night, I went to Robinson, IL, which is about an hour from my town, to watch one of my buddies get in a fight. He was bar room boxing. They do it in Robinson, and in Terre Haute, IN on wed. and thurs. respectively. He lost, but he held his own and went almost the entire 3 rounds, lost by a KO in the last round. The guy he fought used to box in the army and supposedly gets in fights on a regular basis for fun. i had a good time, but didn't get home until after 12 and had to get up for work this morning. i came in late... i think there's a website for the boxing at http://www.barroomboxing.com or something like that.

I went from June 16-22. I met a wonderful AGD (I am assuming that is what sorority you are in) from Pittsburg State. UIFI was probably the coolest 5 days ever. I would do it again, but next time I have to go as an intern.

SigTauJake- Yeah, I'm an AGD! I want to be an intern next summer too! I wish I could go through it again as an undergrad though too. It seems like one of those things that you get something new out of it everytime you hear it, you know?!

Alphachiomy-Are you a Saluki too? Go Dawgs!! Are you still at SIU?

And, Corbin Dallas- Robinson is not far from my hometown! A few girls in my chapter are from that area and I know a few guys from there too!! Are you from Robinson? I wonder if we know the same people?!?

No, I'm from Bloomfield, IN, an hour east of Robinson, 2 counties over. I know 2 guys that live in Robinson, but they both work for Marathon and just moved there. I do know a guy from Lawrenceville though, and a few guys from Sullivan, IN area.

Speaking of Summer Fun: In Carbondale (Illinois) every Thurday night in the summer the whole town brings out beer, their pets, their children, their mobile couches and lawn chairs to a nearby park for Sunset Concerts. If anyone is in the area - I'd say go once. Cdale is about 1.5 hrs from St.L, in Southern Illinois. I wish I was there tonight!

Yup, am a SIUC senior (will graduate in Dec.)and just got done interning at the Post-Dispatch. Am working downtown St. Louis now and can't wait till I get off work - 12 more minutes. I have discovered GC while at work.

Its always awesome to talk with another Saluki!

i work out a lot at the Y, go to the beach, party with my friends, SHOP (hahahaa). I am going to Vegas soon, and I also start my new job soon!

Only bad thing is that my bf is gone for baseball camp http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif.

I've been to the beach twice.

And I'll be moving to a new house in a great subdivision come the end of July.

San Antonio, baby. Spent the day at Schlitterbahn today. Got burned, am exhausted, but it was WONDERFUL. Gotta love the Masterblaster, RagingRiver and Black Knight.

alphachiohmy- I love those kind of nights in C'Dale(which really, knowing SIU, could be any night)! I always miss quarter draft night at Sidetracks, MikeandJoe concerts, and Wiseguys subs when I get home!! Southern IL is just so laid back and full of fun. I get 'school-sick' when I'm away...that's why its gonna take me an extra year to graduate!!

Lifesaver- I was on the Guadelupe(sp?) just this past weekend. Some of my friends and I made our fourth annual appearance at the Luling Watermelon Thump.
Speaking of porn titles, it always make me laugh seeing thousands of people walking around wearing t-shirts saying "Thump this"LOL

Purple Turtle, where do you go to school? I go to SWT and I am assuming Life saver that you are at UTSA? Or maybe just that's where your from. nd lifesaver what fraternity are you in, if one, I am just curios. Gotta love us texans!

I lived in San Antonio for 6 years when I was younger and miss it so much - SeaWorld, the Alamo, the water parks. Went to St. Lukes Catholic off of Callahan, and my best friend went to school at St. Marys. San Antonio is definitely a great place for summers. Oh to be back!

I miss Mihealanjelo concerts too, just missed them last thursday. Miss the traditional Carbondale summer must-haves: bagelman, spillway, Giant City, my old lewis park pool and vball court and pinch penny. I could go on and on ...

yeah, SA is cool. I like it here, but ma ready to move on to the next phase of my life. Dont know where but somewhere in texas. Good to see fellow texans on here.

BOBCAT - Yep, UTSA. Am a Lambda Chi. (Alumni status. Serve on the Alum advisory board, but still party withthe brothers on occasion). Even if we are rivals, gotta love some bobcat. Ya'lls Greek Life Director used to be our Greek Life Director and he ROCKS. CANT SAY ENOUGH about Terrence. He was runner up to LXA's Greek System Advisor of the year award in 1997. Have been to some of my best college parties at SWT. Gotta love it.

Purplturtle - Am doing the Guadalupe North river this weekend, Bezdek's to Bezdek's. Best ride, and not as crowded, but you can still people watch. If ya are under 21 and dont wanna be busted by the cops for indulging, got to the 2nd bezdeks and hav ethem take you north to River Canyon. GURANTEE no cops there. No other tuber really, but VERY relaxing.

That is awesome Lifesaver. My boyfriend is a Lambda Chi and this year about 10 of my sisters and 10 of his brothers hit up Padre. We met a lot of UTSA Lambda Chi's. actually a couple of my sisters had a blast with some of ya'll- Needles to say we have tons of pics from it and they still laugh and say "just think, those guys are only a half hour away" Ya'll should come and visit some time, love to have ya!
