Strolling

Not that I dont think that it is a pretty cool thing to see at parties and on the yard, but what is the point of strolling and where did it come from?

rhoyaltempest 12-21-2007 11:23 AM

What is the point of dancing and where did it come from?

Call on me! I know the answer to that one:

The point of trolls is to annoy and simultaneously entertain GC regulars. It assists in the progression of a long work day as well as adds excitement to an ordinary night.

They come from a trollish family that resides in Troll-ville, which is relatively near Trill-ville.

ok too sincere, since you should be able to tell by now that you won't find a serious answer here, why don't you do your own research??? google is your friend, as is the search function.

No one thinks they want a serious answer. Don't you know a troll question when you see one?

Infamous12 12-21-2007 12:36 PM

So is Jokerston full of non-ghetto virgin ladies wearing flat shoes, long skirts, pantyhose, natural hair, no jewelry, and natural nails painted a nude color? With hobbies such as going to the library and staying away from those thugged-out, fur wearing, two-timing jokers?

Just wondering...I'm making my spring break travel plans now.

The purpose is to worship the other white meat in all of its glory.

It came from the slave masters giving us their left overs. :(

starang21 12-21-2007 03:54 PM

Words cannot describe the krunkness that is generated from Greeks strolling with his fraternity brothers or sorority sisters. Especially when there are several orgs strolling among each other. If you haven't been in a stroll line at a party, you haven't lived yet.

for the record...i hate stroll competitions. cuz most teams will do more dancing then strolling. i see it like this, if you cant pull that stroll off at a party, then why do it in a show?

DSTCHAOS 12-24-2007 10:08 PM

I hate stroll competitions because I hate them. ;) Some things aren't meant to be formalized. Let us informally compete and keep it fun but still relatively unimportant.

CULater 01-21-2008 03:45 AM

hm...strolling101 is incomplete in terms of history. there is a reason we, my org, chose to adopt some HBGLO tradition like strolling but not stepping.

What's the reason?

because stepping is an HBGLO tradition, and out of respect for them, we don't since stepping has no historical significance with latinos. But we do stroll because we feel that it encompasses a lot of our latino history, including the slavery (where the original basic steps of strolling comes from, the slaves who were coming over, who were shackled in chains in a line, had to do something to keep their legs from atrophying, and thus, that is where the basic steps originate) as well as a lot of indigenous traditions from latinos.

And of course we salute, which is a tradition that Lambda Theta Phi and LTA started to show respect and gratitude for those that came before us and taught us, generally, salutes to the PM and APM are good examples.

Senusret I 01-21-2008 02:32 PM

Saluting comes from BGLOs, too.

Hey, when did you cross? I'm Spring '03.
