ADPi Selected to Present at Washington & Lee
 

I just got this e-mail in my inbox. Wish I could be there, but I'm moving to Phoenix next week.

I am full of holiday cheer today...we have been chosen to present at Washington & Lee University in Lexington, VA!!!

Many of you may recall that we presented in 2005 and of those groups, we were the only sorority asked back :-)

Lexington is about 50 miles north of Roanoke, VA. We do not have as many sisters in the area as we would like so please let me know of any sisters in the surrounding areas so we are going to need more Alumnae support. We are asking sisters to please drive a longer distance to help make this presentation as successful as University of Delaware. We were overwhelmed with the amazing turnout of Alumnae in Delaware and hope to make this another success story.

The presentation will be held on the Washington and Lee University campus in Lexington, VA at 7:30 pm on January 31, 2008. The room is TBD.

If I had to pick the top five campuses where I wish ADPi had a chapter, Washington & Lee would DEFINITELY be one of them!! Woo Hoo!!!

What happened in 2005? Did Washington and Lee choose another sorority? If so, they are already looking for expansion, damn. But YEAH for us and the possibility of another chapter, whatever designation it would be. I've lost track :D

Yes, in 2005 Washington and Lee chose another sorority, but for a variety of reasons extension never actually happened. I'll keep my mouth shut on that one. I'm not even sure it's open knowledge of who was selected back then. The groups that presented were Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Phi, and Alpha Delta Pi.

W&L Panhel began with 3 chapters (Chi O, Theta, KKG) in 1989. Then Pi Phi came in 1992 and KD in 1997. Also there was a failed extension in 1991 I think where they actually did get to the point of recruitment but the chapter was never installed. That was way before my time.

I did go to all the presentations back then--I was a senior and outgoing president of my sorority. I can't remember exactly when my term ended relative to the presentations--I think Panhel had chosen the finalists while I was pres and then the actual presentations/selections were after officer turnover... Congrats on being asked back again!

Do you mean the presentations in 2005 or the presentations in 2008? I don't think the ones from this year occur until later in the month....

I know the outcome of the presentations in 2005, as do probably most women that were on campus during that period... I'm not sure the decision was ever formally announced to the media/general public though. It's not a secret by any means, but I don't feel comfortable sharing that information widely.

Hey y'all - I'm a current Pi Phi at W&L and I know we're really excited to see everyone's presentations and at the possibility of a new chapter! W&L has a fantastic greek system - the five sororities on campus just went through recruitment with each one getting at or above quota. I'd be happy to answer questions about W&L in general and the greek system here as best I can. Good luck with your presentation!

There was a lot of Zeta Xi and some Eta Pi showing at the presentation yesterday. Hopefully they left a good impression! Fingers are crossed!

Not sure if it's 100% official yet, think I may have jumped the gun a bit. ><" But it was announced at chapter so can't be wrong can it?

We announced it at DLC this past weekend in District III once we had confirmation from W&L so yep it's true- this will be an intense colonization as we will be jumping directly into formal recruitment at W&L next January and will be using chapter sisters from nearby chapters to do the recruitment!

So save up ADPi stuff for U of D, W&L and AZ colonies :) 2008 is a big year for ADPi!

What will our housing situation be? The houses there are just so gorgeous.

We will be getting one right there with the other five, built in the same style. It should be just as amazingly gorgeous as the others!

Will we be building it, or will the University? Actually, I'm asking if we'll have to recruit outside of our house next year, then build a house?
