Jamie Lynn Spears Says She's Pregnant

If this is true, then the whole family is Trailer Trash.

The Associated Press
Another Spears baby is reportedly on the way — and it's not Britney's.
Jamie Lynn Spears, the 16-year-old "Zoey 101" star and sister of Britney, tells OK! magazine that she's pregnant and that the father is her longtime boyfriend, Casey Aldridge.
"It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected," she says. "I was in complete and total shock and so was he."
Spears is 12 weeks along and initially kept the news to herself when she learned of the pregnancy from an at-home test and subsequent doctor visit, she told the celebrity magazine, which hits stands in New York on Wednesday and the rest of the country by Friday.
As soon as I found out for sure from the doctor, I took two weeks to myself where I didn't tell anybody," she says. "Only one of my friends knew because I needed to work out what I would do for myself before I let anyone's opinion affect my decision. Then I told my parents and my friends. I was scared, but I had to do what was right for me."
Spears broke the news to her mother, Lynne, just before Thanksgiving, the magazine says.
"She was very upset because it wasn't what she expected at all," Spears says. "A week after, she had time to cope with it and became very supportive."
Lynne Spears, already grandmother to Britney's young sons, says: "I didn't believe it because Jamie Lynn's always been so conscientious.
She's never late for her curfew. I was in shock. I mean, this is my 16-year-old baby."
She says her actress daughter, the telegenic heroine of the popular Nickelodeon series "Zoey 101," has known Aldridge for years and began dating him in high school.
Jamie Lynn plans to raise the baby in her home state of Louisiana — "so it can have a normal family life."
The third season of "Zoey 101" wraps up Jan. 4.
"I haven't spoken to (Nickelodeon) personally, but they have always been so great to me over the past years and have given me so many opportunities."
What message does she want to send to other teens about premarital sex?
"I definitely don't think it's something you should do; it's better to wait," she says. "But I can't be judgmental because it's a position I put myself in."

Dayum. They must not believe in birth control. (or self control)

chitownxo 12-18-2007 10:02 PM

People is confirming the story. Lynne Spears now has a new generation of children's careers to manage.

unbelievable. haven't these people heard of contraceptives? i mean, it isn't a new idea!

epchick 12-18-2007 11:04 PM

As sad as it is that she's 16 and pregnant, its not like she's any different than people like Solange Knowles (Beyonce's sister).

It might be bad to think this way, but at least she can financially provide and she seems to be a lot more mentally stable than Britney. Because, at least, I can't see Jamie Lynn shaving her head bald.

Putting the age thing aside (because come on, that's just a reflection of kids these days)...how hard is it to pop a pill every day? To reach over to the nightstand and slap on a rubber? GEEZ.

Jesus H. Christ, please make her a better mother than her sister and mom are.

honeychile 12-18-2007 11:07 PM

The whole family needs to be put in a zoo, labeled Homo Sapiens Trashius.

As for "Jamie Lynn plans to raise the baby in her home state of Louisiana — 'so it can have a normal family life,'" none of them would know a normal family life if they were put in a time machine and sent back to the Ozzie and Harriet days.

Totally, totally sad.

nittanyalum 12-18-2007 11:07 PM

I love the statement that she's known the father for years and started dating him in high school --- she's 16. Isn't she still IN high school??

Proud, proud day for the Spears clan... all that money and fame, still zero class any way you look at 'em.

Taualumna 12-18-2007 11:16 PM

This is sad.

Solange was out of HS and married when she had her child.

They had the wrong Spears knocked up (and the wrong teen star, considering the rumors about Miley). I'm beginning to think that Britney had all the sense in the family.

That's true, but she was still 17. And the announcement of her pregnancy was before she was married.

The difference between those two is that Solange's big sister wasn't a trainwreck. Tina and Matthew's parenting was often questioned, but you never saw Beyonce flashing her chacha for the paps.

IIRC, news of Solange's pregnancy/wedding barely even made a dent in the news.

Taualumna 12-18-2007 11:30 PM

Question: Is Jamie Lynn an emancipated minor?

What difference would that make if she was? Why would she be?

I just meant that [aside from the older sisters] that I didn't see why this is such big news. So she's 16 and pregnant, its not like it uncommon nowadays...that is why I referenced Solange.

With that said, I would have expected more from Jamie Lynn because her sister IS a trainwreck. I guess, if I was JL, I would that thought "shooot I don't want to get pregnant and then become psycho like Brit"...guess not!

James 12-18-2007 11:39 PM

She probably is. It makes it easier to work because she doesn't have to follow child labor laws. How many hours she can work per day or week etc.

And that would effectively make her an adult in the eyes of the law I believe.

James 12-18-2007 11:40 PM

Well you can always get pregnant if you are going to have sex even with birth control. Interesting that she wants to keep it.

Co-sign. Especially that Solange didn't have a TV show like Jamie Lynn.

According to People, Brit just found out too. They wanted Jamie to say away from Brit because of her problems. See how that worked out.

LeslieAGD 12-19-2007 12:00 AM

The Spears parents should be ashamed of how they raised their kids.
And Jaime Lynn should have learned better based on her ho-bag sister.

ZTAngel 12-19-2007 12:06 AM

Lynne Spears takes every opportunity to pimp her daughters to the media. She did it with Britney for years and now has sold Jamie Lynn's story to OK Magazine. I just feel bad for Britney and Jamie Lynn. They were raised by a mom who was (and is) more concerned with making money than that of her children's well-being.

Can we ship the whole family off to some remote island so that they can't procreate more trash?

The Fair Labor Standards Act does not limit the number of hours or times of day for workers 16 years and older.

nittanyalum, I laughed at that too. But, you forget that in high school dating terms, "years" = "eternity." Most high school relationships probably last what, a couple months? So they have known each other for an eternity in that warped thinking. But since I think it's Lynne that said that, I dunno....

James 12-19-2007 12:29 AM

Did she start on the show before she was 16? I honestly don't know, nor know if she was emancipated.

wait, we're surprised at this news?

sigh. JL's babydaddy tore a page from the book of Federline. shoot, he's updating the current edition and reissuing it on bookshelves across America.

Nope, I think it was the other way around. I remember her being on 106 & Park announcing that she was married. The hosts were asking her why she wanted to marry at such a young age, and she kept saying that it was the right time for her. Shortly thereafter, news of her pregnancy came out.

She has a pooch in her wedding dress that was quite noticeable.

Excellent point, and I have no doubt Lynne is trying to put a good spin on it and somehow "legitimize" her SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD'S pregnancy (not possible). I don't remember seeing an age on the guy -- is he also 16 or is he some skeezy older letch?

James 12-19-2007 01:40 AM

I believe he is 19. Unless he is unusually mature it may have been better for the child if he was he a skeezy older letch lol.

Doesn't that make it statutory rape then?

Ok, so if they've been together for "years", wouldn't that mean that at some point he was 18 and she was 15, 17 and 14... illegal in most states, no?

James 12-19-2007 01:52 AM

The article i read said that they were together for less than a year. They say "long term" but don't specify long term.

As a guy 4 months seems forever to me.

They also say they "knew" each other for years. Careful wording by a PR flak you know?

I'm sure it varies state to state, but for some, if they're both underage, it's not statutory rape [in some, it is]. In some states, there are permissible years between ages if one is over 18. Three years may be okay for wherever they are. I know in some states it's four.

cuteASAbug 12-19-2007 01:55 AM

It sucks for her that she just basically ruined her acting career. Ten bucks says she has a change of heart and gets an abortion or has a "miscarriage."

nittanyalum 12-19-2007 01:57 AM

Either way, not exactly the role model Nickelodeon was hoping she was/would be -- I'm guessing when season 3 wraps that'll be it for ol' Zoey...

Exactly. And I'm guessing not many networks will want a children's show star to be a unmarried pregnant teen, or one who has a kid.

No, she'll just be paparazzi fodder like her sad older sister. A "celebrity" for celebrity's sake. It's too bad, I thought she'd be the one to have a long-term career with the way she was going, but sheesh, she crashed and burned at an even earlier age than Brit Brit! It's sad enough Brit's washed up at 26, but Jamie's a full decade younger! Jeez, cast your first vote before you procreate, kiddos, whaddya say???

nittanyalum 12-19-2007 02:15 AM

I popped on over to perezhilton.com and as expected, there's details and pics all over the place about the baby Spears' baby news. I haven't seen her in a while, GOOD LORD does she look like Britney (when she was younger and still put together). Oh, and the bf looks like a douchebag hanger-on-type...

(oh, and the funniest part of it all is that Lynne Spears was apparently planning to write a PARENTING BOOK ---- WTF?? Who in god's name would first of all, think she's got a clue about that subject and commission her to do it, and secondly, BUY that thing??? I assume that's been at the very lease back-burnered since the teenybopper-baby-bump news)

"Indefinitely delayed."

ZTAngel 12-19-2007 08:40 AM

Could Nickelodeon fire her or cancel her show because of her pregnancy? I know that about 10 years ago Hunter Tylo sued and won when she was fired from Melrose Place because of her pregnancy.
