Where would you like to see Theta Phi colonize/recolonize?
Ok, I've seen this in a few other groups' forums and I thought it would be interesting and fun to see what other people thought. Ideally, where would you like to see Theta Phi recolonize or recolonize? I'll go first:
Recolonizations: Michigan (obviously), Boston University, UCLA Colonizations: Northeastern University in Boston (I really like Northeastern, both my parents are alums), the West Coast and/or Canada because we're not represented there at all! |
I would like to see them recolonize at the University of Akron. I have no idea how long they've been off the campus but it's been a long time.
|
I would like to see Theta Phi Alpha colonize at Ave Maria University in FL. I am not sure if they are allowing GLOs or not- but it would be cool given Theta Phi's Catholic roots.
I'd like to see a chapter in a Georgia university- hopefully in Atlanta. |
I second recolonization of UCLA.. I moved out to the West Coast after college and I would like to be involved with a chapter..
Better yet: Colonization at UCSD, USD or SDSU. So much closer! |
I'd love to see a few more chapters in the New England area. Mostly because I would LOVE to be involved in a colonization... after reading about people's experiences here on GC I think it would be awesome! Do we have any Theta Phi colonists on GC?

Hopefully some schools in NE will open up for expansion soon (I don't think there are any open currently, I had been crossing my fingers for Northeastern). Finally, Anatra, I know this has another thread, but do you have any updates on the other colonies--UVA Wise or Utica? |
I would LOVE to see them colonize more in Florida!
|
Theta Phi Alpha has been showing some interest in colonizing University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and I for one am in full support of this. Just last night at IGC we voted to expand, am looking at your sorority I must say that I am impressed with you guys. Hope to hear from your nationals soon,

Where else would you like to see Theta Phi Alpha Colonize?
|
I'd really like to see a chapter in the Washington DC/Northern Virginia/Maryland area since there is a good chance I'll be moving there in the next year or so.
|
Bumping b/c Northeastern in Boston is open for expansion again! Fingers crossed!
|
Fingers double crossed!!! :)
|
We need more TPA colonies down south!!!!! :)
Clayton Colony is taking care of the Atlanta, GA area but other colonies in Georgia and in the south would be great! |
I second the south. I live in Louisiana. We have two chapters, but more would be amazing!!
|
This fall we are colonizing at New England College- New Hampshire and University of Indiana-South Bend.
We are also looking to present at LSU-Alexandria |

I checked out the NEC website because I wasn't too familiar with the school (despite having worked in NH for a while). Is this going to be a ground up colonization or are we absorbing one of the locals? |
A little of both.. there was a local looking to affliate they selected Kappa Delta Phi NAS however a few of the women wanted Theta Phi and left the local to start TPA. There are about 7 women in the interest group now.
|
WOOOOOO! Finally another New England chapter! They're not too far from me. Maybe I can FINALLY attend an installation! :)

More Big Name Schools
I think it would be cool if we colonized on some larger campuses like LSU, USC, Texas A & M, Ole Miss, etc...
|
I agree!!!! It would be great for us to get to some larger campuses!!
The process has a large number of rules. The campus must actually be open for extension for us to contact the school and let them know we are interested. A campus is only "open" when the proper authority... Panhel votes to invite another group on campus. Once that happens we send in proposals to be invited to present to these campuses. Then then have to invite us to present. They will invite approx 3 groups and select from one of them. Many larger university require hundreds of thousands in housing. Which is sometimes not the investment we are willing or sometimes ready to make. We continue to look at larger universities that are a good fit but that doesnt mean that Theta Phi will be invited on, but it doesnt mean we wouldnt be invited either! |
I just saw in LaneSig's thread that the University of Denver is open for expansion. I think it would be really cool to get a single letter chapter back (Omicron). Plus, if I'm not mistaken, I think an alumnae association was just chartered in Colorado.
|
Anywhere in RI. I'm from RI and there are no chapters near my home. I know there used to be a chapter at Bryant and Johnson and Wales. I also know there is an interest group at Roger Williams. I think it would be great to see a Theta Phi Chapter in RI! :)

We are recolonizing our Mu chapter at the University of Nebraska in the fall :)

I love Roger Williams University (and RI in general!). Everything there is beautiful. If I hadn't gone to PSU, I would have gone there. I'm jealous that you all will have a colony on that campus! |
I would love to see Delta chapter at Ohio University recolonized, all though I admittedly have no clue what their greek statistics are right now.
|
Ok so we are presenting at Indiana University, Capital University and are colonizing at Philadelphia University... where else should we be looking?
|
Although I'm pretty sure they aren't open for expansion yet, i think Montclair State (NJ) would be a nice to place to be, especially given the amount of chapters and alumni in the area :-)

Butler University in Indianapolis!
|
I would love to see us expand more in the midwest, considering our recent success at IU and Nebraska. Some of my dream recolonizations include U of Kansas, Iowa, Michigan, and Ohio U. I would also love love love to recolonzie Mizzou!! :)
|
Does anyone know what happened with Michigan? I know we didn't end up presenting last year but I remember a big announcement on the national facebook page saying that we had submitted a packet and that we would be kept updated, and then nothing was ever said afterwards. I did message our national office but never heard anything back. I wonder if we just backed out?
|
Theta Phi was not selected to present. There was uproar by some GC members RE: Not selecting a Alpha Chapter to present. I hope some day Theta Phi Alpha returns to Michigan.
On the bright side, I knew many Theta Phi's at Cleveland State during my college years. They were always classy, well dressed and very pretty! |
New Mexico State University! I live in the area, and a few mights ago at the movie theater after seeing many women walking around in letters it made me wonder if we could someday be a part of their community. I would love to help out if this were to happen.
