Not sure where you're located, but they're pretty big down south. They've been around for quite some time. |

Thanks for the link. I do recall "Ridin' Dirty" and definitely remember his appearance on Jay-Z's "Big Pimpin'" now. |

Yeah my boy called me and told me. I was shocked. I had to google it because i had not heard anything about it....but then again I have been working on a paper all day...
But, seriously, that is sad:(... |
I didn't believe it since i saw it on mediatakeout but I guess it's true....wasn't he just released from prison in 06?
My prayers go out to his family and friends... I'm gonna go listen to "Big Pimpin" and "International Players Anthem" |
i am saddened by this. but i don't believe for a minute that he was 33.
|
The details in the Billboard article are extremely vague. What did he die from? Who called 911?
And BLUTANG, why do you doubt his reported age? Why would someone lie about that? |
he looks old, and UGK has been out a long time. i'm just shocked that he was ONLY 33.
|
I read a report that he died of natural causes apparently. Of course this is before a toxicology and whatever else they may do. Dude was a legend. Its "sad" that people think they, UGK, blew up off of Big Pimpin. They were already like 3 albums into the game at that point.
|
Yeah, I was shocked by the age too considering how long UGK has been out. And he does look older than 33...however, sometimes when people live harder lives they tend to look a lot older than what they really are.
Nevertheless, people in the entertainment industry---especially music---lie about their ages all of the time. |
R.I.P.

RIP, Pimp C. Hip hop is losing. :( |
This is so sad. I'm was so shook when i found out. UGK is one of my favorite music groups/artists/rappers/whatever you wanna call it. Bun B has always been my favorite rapper, but you can't have Bun without the Pimp. When I first found out (through a text message when i was at work), I hoped it was some stupid rumor, but then i got home only to find it was true. It really didnt fully hit me untill i listened online to the houston radio station and heard people like David Banner and Yung Joc call in and talk about him. And then I finally realized it was real.
For those who have not heard of him or don't know who he is, UGK are rap legends in the south. People like Lil Wayne, Outkast, David Banner, Juvinlle, Jeezy, T.I., (the list goes on) all look up to UGK. Most people who aren't farmiliar with them most likely know them from Jay Z's "Big Pimpin" but they were big in the south way before then. They have made music with anyone who is anyone in the south and even some "up north" rappers. People really respected them and the hip hop community is really feeling this loss right now. It was reported that Bun B would not talk to anyone yesterday and today was quoted by MTV saying, "[Pimp C's] genius was unparalleled. His passion was undeniable and his love was unmatched. To say that I lost a friend or brother would never do justice to the relationship we shared. I will never be the same again." For those who do know Pimp and Bun and love their music, you know where I'm coming from. |
