They are Back: American Gladiators

While I have seen the old shows on cable, NBC is bringing the show back.

Have to wonder if this was in the works, or if this is part of the strike.

I remember watching American Gladiators every weekend when I was younger. I can't wait to see the new season.

Why the need to pile on?
If you looked, I tried to.

Now back to the thread.

I was trying to summon an Uber-Moderator, actually.

I guess they got tired of the Japanese stealing their thunder with Ninja Warrior...heheheh....I wonder how long it will be before steroid scandals start coming down?

For the way you did it, one could take it as something else:(

I demand a moratorium on poorly spelled post titles. Too many of the "new posts" have thread titles that would make your English teacher cry.

This looks like a gladiator back.

Has there been a study showing that people who participated in American Gladiators have a higher than average rate of back injuries??? Where are all the links??? Surely there are more than two!!!!!!

I second that! You can say all you want "If you don't like a thread, don't read it...or if you don't like so-and-so, put them on ignore", but everyone has to read the thread titles!:p:p

Where's my red correction marker when I need it???!!!

ZTABullwinkle 12-05-2007 04:10 PM

I heard that Hulk Hogan is supposed to be the host of this...but I may have heard wrong.

Did you see the link in post #1?;)
He seems to be.

deadbear80 12-06-2007 12:18 AM

If they really wanted to 'bring back' American Gladiators...they should still have Mike Adamle and Larry Csonka (the original hosts) back! I loved them!

I am sorry, I didn't check the links. What I have heard about the show I have gotten from tv and occasional stories I have encountered online.

Here's the thing, jon - no one reads your links. There are entirely too many. You could make a full time job out of reading jon's links.

Care to link to the TOS for GC?
My post had a total of two links to the NBC site.

And the poster said that he just did not see them or read the whole thread.

So not a big deal at all.

ZTABullwinkle = she

I did read the whole thread, just didn't see it mentioned in the thread about Hulk Hogan.

Sorry for the gender-bending:):D;)

I still remember that episode of Family Matters where Steve Urkel and Carl Winslow duke it out on an episode of American Gladiators.

I wonder what the old Gladiators are up to now? Do they still have big hair? Are they still "lumpy"?

BetteDavisEyes 01-07-2008 01:25 PM

I watched it last night and had fun watching it and bringing back childhood memories. The Marine Corp mom annoyed the isht out of me but it was too bad she busted her head open while swimming.

Hellga scares me. ;)

Todd Christensen, former BYU and Los Angeles Raider player was also a host. I work with him now several times a year.

He had a lot longer hair then.

DaemonSeid 01-07-2008 04:47 PM

...still waiting for someone to take The Running Man movie and making an actual show out of it... ;)

Unregistered- 01-07-2008 04:56 PM

I missed it last night, but I found out from some friends that Tanoai Reed plays Toa this season of AG. He's The Rock's body double and a former UH football player.

Being that he's a real big asshole in real life, I'm sure he won't have any problem fitting into this role.

smiley21 01-07-2008 06:24 PM

I watched it last night and totally got into it. That one guy who tried out 14 years ago annoyed the crap out of me. I am glad he lost and I wish Wolf ripped him apart.

But I will watch it tonight!

I have seen a pic of Diamond and she looks aged. Her skin is looks leathery. Goes to show you what a lot of tanning will do to your skin.

PhiGam 01-08-2008 02:59 AM

Oh my. I'm not surprised.

While I'm sure the female gladiators are loaded with tons 'o plastic, at least they don't look as bad and fake as their predecessors from the 80s. Sometimes when the gladiators go at it, I cringe at the thought of implants bursting.

Anyway, the guy that won last night was Phrat! Woot!

^^^ AAAAAAAA PHIIIIII!!!!!!!

southernfrat 01-08-2008 07:10 PM

I personally find the show disappointing considering all the hype behind it. There are a lot of things that need to be changed. First of all the Eliminator is somewhat boring since their is no interaction with Gladiators. On the show in the 80's they had 4 walls and had to run through one of them while there were Gladiators waiting behind 2-3. This needs to be brought back. The football-like challenge where the men have to get past a Gladiator between the hashes and score, than wrestle a different gladiator also needs to be brought back.

On a different note does Titan look like Mitt Romney to anyone else?

Tippiechick 01-08-2008 08:15 PM

My mom recognized three of the females as current/former ms. fitness or bodybuilding competitors. Siren - Valerie Waugaman, Stealth - Tanji Johnson, and Venom - Beth Horn are all regulars in the bodybuilding/fitness world.

And Crush, is a Mixed Martial Arts champ. Would not want to mess with her.

Hellga, Robin Coleman, is a powerlifter -- read: World's strongest woman competitor. Pretty much all meat and no moves.

Velocity_14 01-08-2008 08:32 PM

You know....I watched it last night and actually enjoyed it. My line sister called me to make sure I was watching it. Hulk Hogan is a trip...

happyponies 01-17-2008 11:40 AM

I like the show. It's nice to see more women learning how to judo chop.
