Holiday present ideas... for the significant other
I'm at a complete loss of what to get my boyfriend. Black Friday was a strike and a miss. I had no luck on Cyber Monday.
What are you getting your SO for the holiday? What's your price range? If money were no object, what would you buy them? HELP! |
My husband and I gave each other a cruise, so no worries this year about presents!
Is there something you can give your boyfriend that he could use everyday - and think of you? www.levengers.com has beautiful, unique items if he is a student/businessman. www.duluthtrading.com has very practical gifts if he is handy or works with his hands. They are two of my favorite companies for gifts for guys. |
well....
We were out on Saturday adn she saw a DVD concert set that she liked...she didn't make too much of a big deal about it but I made a mental note to order it from Amazon. A Few suggestions... - If he is a gadget junkie and doesn't already have one, a GPS system - An Ipod - tix to a sporting event - a colgne set is kind of ok, just make sure it's not some cheap stuff - a really nice watch - a leather coat And of course, this all depends on how long you two have been together...if he is worth the investment, then look into one of above suggestions, or if you still don't know, as per another thread, it doesn't hurt if both of you sit down and exchange lists about what you would like to get for Christmas, and keep in mind that you may recieve one, some or none of what's on the list. Bottom line is....regardless of what is given, it's the thought that counts. P.S. on a sidenote, people, whatever you do....never get your s/o shoes. 2 reasons....call me superstitious, but there's that myth about if you buy shoes for someone, they will walk out of your life.....hehehe But more practically speaking, IF THERE IS NOTHING ELSE that people are more picky about, it's shoes and shoes have to not only look nice, but they have to fit and feel perfect. If for some God - forsaker reason you ever find yourself thinking about getting some shoes, it may be wiser to either just give a gift card to purchase shoes. |

This is what husband is getting for Christmas. He likes to ride when it's cold, and the half helmet makes for a chilly blast in your face. Probably not much help to you, but eh - you asked. |

Someone else here at my job is thinking about getting one for their s/o and has no clue.... |

I'm getting hubby tools for his garage workshop and a new golf bag. He's had his golf bag since he was a teenager, and it's AWFUL. He keeps saying "it works!" Soooo... he will be getting a nice leather bag, so I don't have to be embarassed by his lame one anymore.
|
This is what mine is getting - actually, he's getting two of them.

When my husband was on a work trip, I stood in line to get tickets for Spamalot. (He LOVES Monty Python). So he's getting those, plus something from VS and some small things. Usually, we just go on a trip and call it done.

We're sticking to low budget this year, so I'm looking at getting him a watch, a nice sweatshirt, a DVD, and a few of the weird wines he likes. Probably also an insane amount of chewing gum for stocking stuffers, as he is completely addicted.
|
I got mine silver engraved collar stays from redenvelope.com, some original comic book art from his favorite artist, a stitched sweatshirt from our university, and new speakers for his computer.

I'm still up in the air since his brother purchased a copy of Assassin's Creed which was the "OMG have to have" present this year. Now he doesn't need his own copy
So I'm still looking. |

Brother picked up Call of Duty w/ Assassin's Creed, they own Halo, and Bioshock. Not sure about The Orange Box, I haven't heard of that one. I'm not entirely certain he'd be interested in Mass Effect, I haven't really been poking for more ideas yet.
The other idea for him is some outdoorsy gear. He loves hiking. |

Funny you mentioned hiking...I was going to suggest an outdoors watch. |
What does your SO do for a living?
I really wanted to get Mr. Pi Phi Montreal Canadiens tickets to a game in Montreal, but the tickets were sold out (and not really with in my budget for this year), so I think I am going to buy him a proper work jacket. He works outside a lot and especially on roofs of extremely tall buildings and he doesn't have a proper coat to wear when it's raining or cold, so I was looking at geting him an all purpose coat. One that will keep him warm when it's 40 below and dry when it rains. |

As I said before (in the pm) stick to helmets that are regular price over a hundred bucks and full face. OH.. and are DOT and Snell approved. Look for air vents, lots of padding, scratch resistant shields, tinted is good too. Mine is similar to this--> http://www.rockinleather.com/zoom_img/1913_11491389.jpg Look for a removable lining that is washable. Sweaty linings are nasty yuck.. When he tries it on, make sure it is snug and when he moves his head around the helmet moves with him and there is no extra space between his head and the lining. Make sure the helmet matches his jacket. |
RedEnvelope is amazing. I can't believe I ever went a Christmas or birthday without finding it.
I've settled on a watch. Those engraved collar stays have next-special-occasion written all over them though! |
I bought my spouse a Bose SoundDock for his iPod. It's portable and rechargable... and it will look nice in our house. I think it retails for around $300. I got mine at QVC with free shipping on Bose products.

I dont know what to get my guy besides me with a ribbon tied around myself:p
|
I got him a Bucky Badger doormat for the door into his house from the garage (we have this at our front door already) and a casual sweater from Banana Republic. I'm not really sure what else to get him since he pretty much lives at work these days.

Plus, we are doing stockings so im on a hunt now for stocking stuffers!! Any ideas? |

Gadgets, Gaming, Clothes? Sports? Movies? Music? |
My plan for my SO was to buy a Coach wallet filled with "Infamous12 Love Coupons" and put the wallet in the pocket of some new jeans.
When we were browsing the mall the other day, I secretly bought him a PRL shirt that was on super clearance instead of the jeans. I think instead of buying him jeans (that could potentially not fit - he's 6'5") I'm going to buy some Coke pj pants and put the wallet in the pants and the shirt folded on top. What do you think? |

psssst...what size is the shirt? OK...let's slow this down right here!!! Ladies!!! for those of you buying clothes for your guy....how many of you here know his sizes? - Dress shirt neck and length - suit size - sweatshirt size - Pants inseam and length - and altho I am against people buying shoes for their S/O.....shoe size |

- Dress shirt neck and length 15/34 - suit size He's not much for suits. If we have somewhere fancy to go, he wears black slacks and borrows my dad's suit jacket. - sweatshirt size Medium - Pants inseam and length 30x30 - and altho I am against people buying shoes for their S/O.....shoe size If they fit me, they'll fit him. He borrows my hiking boots and soccer sandals. |

aaaaahhh....I remember when I used to wear a 13 shoe.... nowadays I fluctuate between a 13, 14, or 15..... |
I'm not sure my boyfriend would ever get new clothes if I didn't buy them for him. I'd really like to get him a new suit for Christmas but I am way too broke right now. Daemon, if it makes you feel better, I think my boyfriend is pretty average-sized (16 1/2 x 34/35, 44R, 36x30, 12.5) and we actually have a pretty hard time finding his size in the stores a lot.

PS3
I bought my husband an 80GB PS3 earlier this week. He wanted it since last year, but I got him the Wii instead until it went down. I hope he enjoys it. :D
|
TV show season DVD sets are an idea. COSTCO/Sams/BJ's have a variety at usually good prices.

I got my husband a nice watch, pampered chef items, the for men face care set from the body shop, and the new Rubix Cube Revolution. He's getting a few other small items too but i forgot what they were. My husband is really hard to buy for and I hate giving him gift cards.
If money was no object (and I had it) I'd buy him the $17,000 Rolex he looked at and tried on at the Rolex store in Maui. |
ladies......or those of you tired of fighting with 5 or more remotes, here is a perfect gift idea
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...pr_product_top I picked one up last night and after an hour. I felt free !!!!! You can't go wrong...it's 100 bucks yes...but it truly replaces and takes on all the functions of any remote you have! |
