Hooking up with a Coworker

Who's done it? Horror/awkward/good stories to share?

AlphaFrog 11-22-2007 05:17 PM

I did it. There was even a "no fraternization" rule, but it was a collge part time job, so I didn't give a crap. And it turned out pretty well, because I ended up marrying him.:D:D

I dated one... it was cool for a while, then she want nutzoid, we broke up and *luckily* I got a promotion and changed departments! =)

but yeah she was giving me the look of death like one day and the next day would be sending me emails trying to talk to me... really creepy

Still BLUTANG 11-23-2007 12:14 AM

I lost my virginity to a coworker at the time. Granted I was only 17 and still in high school it was the perfect friends with benefits situation.

"Don't shit where you eat!"

Great rule to follow. There is enough drama and stress at work without adding hooking up with co workers into the mix.

SirHornyToad 11-23-2007 05:05 PM

Umm yep pretty sure it wasn't that look, and even if it was 15 minutes later I would of gotten the email telling me to never talk to her again, I'm telling ya it was like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

There was a guy this summer. He was new to the labs and me being the boss and all, I had to train him.

Well....we made out a few times, but I flat out told him that I wasn't looking for a relationship. He said he wasn't either. It was just supposed to be two people helping each other out.

Next thing I know, like two weeks later, kid is all like "AlwaysSAI, I want to date you."

My response: "I thought you didn't date."
His response: "I will with the right person."
Me: "There is no way I am the right person."
Him: "You are...blah, blah, blah."

I told him no, that I meant it when I said I wasn't looking for a relationship. Then he goes into this whole speal about how I should thank god he is talking to me because I am damaged goods and no self respecting man would touch me with a ten foot pole.

Yeah, I told him to go away.

But, of course, I still had to work with him....as his boss...

One day, I chewed him and another girl out for not answering the phone when I was off the clock.
Ten minutes later, kid is all trying to talk to me and I'm giving him one word answers. He says he wants to be my friend and he's sorry for everything he said. blah, blah, blah...basically.

He IMs me one day and I told him to get a life and signed off.
He IMs me the next day and I told him to go away.

Haven't spoken to him since. But, I do still boss him around at work.

Hey, I meant it when I said I wasn't looking for a relationship. Little boy is just mad cuz his feelings got hurt and I beat him at his game.

(Currently, he's fooling around with the other female boss on a regular basis...oh what a winner...)

I've never done it, but I did have a co-worker ask to move in with me. The crazy thing about it is she had a 2 year old kid. I thought she was joking, but she was serious. She said that she and I could split the rent and she and the baby wouldn't be a problem at all.

I said "no thanks".

Yeah, I know. And the crazy thing about it is, when a woman is hitting on me, I'm a little slow in that area so it takes me some time to catch on.

After she asked me, I didn't realize that she hit on me and that she was for real until I got half way down the road on my way home from work. The next day was when she told me she was serious. :o:o:o

This happens quite frequently at my office because majority of employees are recent graduates around the same age, who may have just moved to the city, and are looking to work for some new people to "mingle" with. I can think of 4 couples off the top of my head in my office, not to mention all the rumors about who's hooked up randomly after happy hour !! hehe

I met my current husband at work- actually it was at a company softball games, but it was work related. We had a non-fraternization policy, so my husband quit once we were fairly serious (I was making more than him at the time).

In fact, most of our couple-friends met at work. When you are out of school, it's the best place to meet people.

So are weddings! That's where I met my husband.

Ditto on church -- that's where we met.

I've worked here long enough that the mere concept of that makes me want to barf. I mean there are some nice looking guys here, but they're like my brothers at this point. If there's anything going on anymore, it's on the down low. We do have the one guy who seems to get shitfaced at every holiday party and make out with someone equally shitfaced - I would never touch him (even if I was attracted) because his wife scares me - she looks like Tonya Harding.

The only time this ever happened to me was in my much much much younger days, when I was working at a resort and the general vibe everywhere (for guests and workers) was partying 24/7. It was, well let's just say interesting, and I'm glad I did it there instead of at a more "professional" type job.

Haha do we work for the same company? That's why I brought it up. We have a no fraternization policy but it seems to get broken pretty often. Not to mention the company/office encourages happy hours and going out together for "team bonding."

I'm usually pretty good at reading people in general, but it's women who seem to be able to pull the fast one on me most of the time.:o
