Hair poll!

I know that we already have a thread for "Curly Hair," but I wanted to start a thread about hair in general! You can answer all these questions, or only the ones you want to--it's your choice! Sorry if this topic seems so random...I just have to get something off my mind right now!

I love playing with hair, so I would love to read everybody else's responses http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif.

*What's your hairstyle?

*Likes/Dislikes about your hair or other ppl's hair? Do you have a fave hairstyle that you like to see on the opposite sex?

*Do you have any fave products for hair?

*Any tips to share?

-----------------------------------------------------------And feel free to add anything else to this poll in regards to hair!

Oops, I forgot to enter in my own responses http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif.

*What's your hairstyle?
My hair is long, dark, slighty wavy.

*Likes/Dislikes about your hair or other ppl's hair? Do you have a fave hairstyle that you like to see on the opposite sex?
I like that my hair is very versatile...it can be wavy one minute and straight the next, depending on how I want it to be. What I don't like--sometimes it's so thick! My fave hairstyle on a guy is either a crew cut or somewhat spiky (not too long spikes, though, please!).

*Do you have any fave products for hair? YES! HAIRCOLOR!! hehe. I love playing around with haircolor...though my hair is so stubborn that it does not absorb hair color that well, so I'm always left with some black in my hair (I have natural black hair). Currently--it's reddish-brown-black.

Also, I love to use Leave-in Conditioner! That is the key for me! I like Nexxus Hairdressing (leave-in conditioning). Also, Aussie's 3- Min Miracle is a wonderful deep conditioner!

*Any tips to share? DON'T BLOWDRY YOUR HAIR SO MUCH! Go au naturel if possible...air-dry http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Fried hair is not pretty! Don't tug on your strands either. But most of this is common sense...

Also, to get rid of static, run your hands under cold water, and hold your hands about 2 inches away from your head. Poof! Static is gone!

Good topic, Newbie!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
I'm a hair fanatic. I am my hair. I know that sounds weird, but it's just my thing.

http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gifMy Hair is...
Long, straight (slightly, slightly wavey when it air dries), and blonde.

http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gifHair must haves...
conditioners, leave in conditioners, and hot oil treatments.

http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gifHair favorites...
Biolage Hydrating Shampoo, Biolage Detangle Solution, and Leave In Spray Tonic.
TIGI's Bed Head products (all TIGI products smell good enough to eat!!!). Graham Webb products are pretty good too.

http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gifWhat I like about my hair...
Since it's long and pretty straight, I can do just about anything to it. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gifInteresting tips...

1. Heat some extra virgin olive oil in the microwave, use on clean, wet hair, and wrap hair in a warm towel. This makes for a great natural hot oil treatment.

2. Apple Cider Vingear is an excellent clarifier(sp?), used to remove build up from hair products and hard water. It also gives hair a nice shine.

3. Mayonnaise also gives hair a nice shine...it's just gross to use.

4. Honey is a great moisturizer. It also lightens the hair over time.

*What's your hairstyle? My hair is dark brown (almost black), shoulder-length, and VERY curly.

*Likes/Dislikes about your hair or other ppl's hair? Do you have a fave hairstyle that you like to see on the opposite sex? Sometimes my hair is a big pain in the butt. I really think it has a mind of its own. As for the opposite sex, I prefer guys with short hair. I like the clean-cut look.

*Do you have any fave products for hair? I have found the perfect stuff for my hair, and it's inexpensive! I use L'Oreal Curl Vive shampoo and conditioner, and Herbal Essences conditioning balm for intense conditioning (yeah it's kinda like that commercial http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif). And then I have to use 2 different anti-frizz gels on my hair! You can see why I say my hair is a pain in the butt!

juniorgrrl 05-30-2001 01:44 PM

*What's your hairstyle?
Medium to light brown, shoulder length layered cut, with angle-cut bangs swept to the side. I've got extremely subtle blonde highlights.

*Likes/Dislikes about your hair or other ppl's hair? Do you have a fave hairstyle that you like to see on the opposite sex?

I love my hair - its so easy to work with. Its straight as hell, but I can curl it with hot rollers and it looks all bouncy. I have to blow dry it though, lest it start to look a bit wavy and wierd.

I hate Mullets! Please people, get into this century!

*Do you have any fave products for hair?
I use Herbal Essences Shampoo and Conditioner, and that's about it. I'm extremely low maintenence with my hair. Wash, dry and go http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

bucutie02 05-30-2001 01:57 PM

What's your hairstyle?
My hair is dark brown with copper-tone highlights, curly, shoulder length

Likes/Dislikes about your hair or other ppl's hair? Do you have a fave hairstyle that you like to see on the opposite sex?
Well my hair just normally parts down the middle- but i want to get a new hairstyle. My face is round so every one tells me to part it on the side but i hate how it looks! I wear it up a lot of the times just because its easier and i dont get as hot. On the opposite sex i like a clean cut. If they have to put gel on thats okay, but i dont like it when its all stiff.

Do you have any fave products for hair?I always use Physique on my hair. I use the shampoo, conditioner, and mousse

Any tips to share?
If you have curly hair and dont have a lot of time to mess with up, just wash it, minimal towel dry and then put mousse in it. During the day i mess with it a lot just so it doesnt turn stiff and hard- i hate that. I rather have soft curls. Also, did you know that if you keep your hair up most of the day and then at night let it down, the smell of your shampoo will last longer? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

bucutie02 05-30-2001 01:59 PM

Okay well i am always saying that I am going to let my hair grow out but then i change my mind. I am thinking about cutting my hair a few inches shorter, and in layers. I kind of want it like Felicity's hair. My hair is shoulder length right now and with no layers. What do you guys think??

LXA1048 06-01-2001 01:52 PM

I guess that I can join in this conversation. hair type:
I have hair past my shoulders and it is light brown. It is straight until it gets past my ears then is curls up.
Likes/dislikes:
I love my hair, but it gets to be a pain when I am out on the lake or when I just want to ride around in my car with the windows down. Some how it always ends up in my mouth or in my eyes. That is my only dislike.
Fav product:
I have no idea except that I love apple shampoo. It smells so good.

I need some hair assistance. OK when my new hair comes in it sticks up all over the place. I want to get it to lay down. I have tried some anti-friz crap and all it did was make my hair look like I was using soul-glow. I have no idea how to fix this and this isn't a problem that you go and ask your guy friends. You all are the only people that understand me.

later,
Clint

shopgirl 06-01-2001 06:53 PM

Hey Clint,

I have trouble with the frizzies too! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/mad.gif I have yet to find the perfect product, be it a natural remedy or store bought, but I do like some products that seem to work. First, I recently bought Pantene's new Smoothing Creme. It's a little thick, but it doesn't seem to weigh the hair down or make it look greasy. Also, as much as I don't like to spend the money on Clinique hair products, they have two straightners to choose from that you can use on your hair when it's wet. Then there is a really nice serum that you can use on your dry hair that tames frizzies and adds shine. If nothing else, try the serum. It's $13.50, but it does work well.

I'll keep thinking of the things I've tried so I can help you out. Oh yeah, keep up on your trims. Even if it's just a 1/2 an inch. Trimming the hair always makes it look better.

Later http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

nucutiepie 06-01-2001 07:51 PM

*What's your hairstyle?

I have medium length (just past my shoulders) wavy hair - it has some long layers at the bottom and is REALLY dark brown

*Likes/Dislikes about your hair or other ppl's hair? Do you have a fave hairstyle that you like to see on the opposite sex?

My hair is neither curly nor straight - I wish it would be either. It's not extremely wavy, just a little bit, so if I let it air dry it just looks kind of frizzy and poufy. I have always wished for ringlets even though they are a lot of work.

On Guys, I LOVE short, kind of spiky hair. In my opinion it is the best and most universally attractive guy hairstyle.

*Do you have any fave products for hair?

Kiehl's silk groom. It REALLY calms frizzy hair, and you only need a tiny bit - the teeny bottle lasts forever.

Also, frizz-ease mousse.

KillarneyRose 06-02-2001 05:41 PM

Newbie! That Nexxus Hairdressing you mentioned sounds interesting to me. Is it a spray or a gel or what? I just got highlights in my hair so it's a bit fried right now and I could really use a good conditioner!

Thanks!

Thought I'd add another male perspective to the thread. BTW, great topic carolyn. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

My hair is light brown with blond tips. Not to sound conceited, but the frosty tips looks really good on me. Almost every-day I get compliments on my hair by women, I don't know what i'm gonna do when it goes out of style. I geuss in the future i'll be like one of those mullet guys now, wearing a hair style exclusively by guys who drive camaros.

Favorite Hair Style for ladies - long hair, straight or curly dark blond/brunette/red head, I hate short hair on a chick - sorry

Tips: A lot of ppl ask me how I style my hair, I usually wait about 15-20 minutes after washing it before I apply a combination of styling cream and gel.

LXA1048 06-04-2001 01:01 PM

Thanks for the help shopgirl. I will give a few of those products a try.

newbie 06-04-2001 05:10 PM

Hey guys!

Shopgirl, what TIGI products do you use? TIGI seems like such a fun brand! Have you ever tried egg yolks on your hair? i haven't, I'm scared that I'll have scrambled eggs on my hair when I get out of the shower!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

SSS1365, what is the Herbal Essences conditioning balm like? (How do you use it, what does it do, etc.) Thanks!

Juniorgrrl, what does a Mullet look like? I've heard so much about them, but don't know what they look like!!

Bucutie, do you mean Felicity's hairstyle when she first cut it off, or now, when it's growing out? Personally, I liked it when it was grown out a bit (I thought it looked really nice), but I think what ever floats your boat is fine!!! Do what you want!!

LXA1048, I don't think I know how to exactly answer your Q, but I think buying a straightening iron would help a lot? That way, it could be as straight as you like it, and not stick up! I know what a pain that is--I used to have shoulder-length hair (a few years back, though), and it was a pain in the a$$!! One side would stick up, while the other was straight! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif Mine would do that b/c that is just how my hair's growth would be. What I've found is--you can only control the sticking-out by either growing it PAST that stage where it sticks out, or by trimming it off BEFORE it gets to that stage. I don't think that any styling products will help that--my opinion only, though--b/c I tried so many products b4 to try to control that, and nothing worked! You might invest in that straightening iron, though. Hope that helps some?

Hi KillarneyRose!! You know, I went into the salon this wkend, to look for new hairproducts (I ran out of the Hairdressing) but I couldn't find the Hairdressing anymore! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif BUT, I found another Nexxus product that is highly raved about: Humectress Ultimate Moisturizing Conditioner! I had heard a lot about it previously, and so, since I couldn't find the Hairdressing, I decided to give this a whirl! I've tried this product 2X so far. I love it!!! SInce I color my hair a lot, it's pretty fried, too...and unfortunately, my used-to-be-healthy hair is pretty brittle, I think. It doesn't look fried--but it FEELS fried http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif. Anyway, the Humectress really moisturizes my hair--it's not sticky/oily-feeling tho! It also gives me some body. (Though I have really thick hair, sometimes it just falls flat!) Let me type out what else it's supposed to do (what it says on the bottle)--
• Excellent moisturizer for dry, brittle hair
• Eliminates static electricity in the hair
• Moisturizes the innermost structure of the hair
• Protects the hair from sun's damaging ultraviolet rays
• Excellent for kinky, curly and permed hair
• Fortified with panthenol for added body
• pH balanced
• Fortified with NexxuSpheres

HOpe that helps you, Killarney! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Nick--haha. I also like the look of frosted tips, provided it's not too drastic, or too much http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif. Does your hair look like Ricky Martin's? His hair is very nice! His is also light brown with dk. blonde tips. Can you describe to me how a mullet looks like?

Oh, I forgot to add to my list of Dislikes:

I hate it when some Asian guys/girls bleach their hair bright platinum/orange--it looks really unnatural, and then their hair is really stringey too. Plus the guys always make it really LONG in the front (bangs) and then short the rest of the way. To me, it just looks really bad. Really cheap. High fob alert! (No offense to anyone who wears their hair like that...)

I think sticking with dark hair is really pretty. I'm of Asian descent, too, and I don't think orange/blonde exactly flatters us!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif

KillarneyRose 06-04-2001 10:25 PM

Newbie,

A mullett is one of those haircuts that's long in the back and short on top. Think David Spade's hair in the movie Joe Dirt.
http://www.mullethunter.com/ is a funny website with all sorts of assorted mullett pictures

shopgirl 06-05-2001 01:30 AM

Hey Newbie!!!

I have tried the egg thing...numerous times! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/redface.gif I use the whole egg though. I haven't done it in a LONG time. I don't know that it did anything that special for my hair. I just did it because I read that it was suppose to be good for your hair http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif...I believe for the protein. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/confused.gif I think the mayonnaise did more than the eggs, but again that's yukkie...it smells so gross. So, I wouldn't really recommend doing the egg thing. I would however recommend the olive oil as a hot oil treatment and the vinegar as a clarifying rinse...they both do a good job. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Let me know if you try any of these, K. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

Rudey 06-05-2001 05:10 AM

I've edited this because what I wrote seriously sounded gay. Yeah, whatever.

Anyway, I just put a little wax or fiber in my hair, move it around for probably 5 seconds and clump certain parts of it to end up with that "just out of bed" look.

As for hair products, I buy anything in a cool package just because I'm retarded. The stuff that works best is the paul mitchel dry wax or the crew fiber - both come in tins and you really can't put too much in your hair or girls will never play with your hair. The tigi stuff I've used is disgusting, the sebastian stuff is weak, and I can only work the redken replay stuff if i'm going clubbing because it makes my hair a little shiny.

On girls, I like long hair or short hair. Girls with short hair just look "cool" - I'm not sure how to explain that better. The thing with long hair is that it's fun to play with. I love curls on certain girls but on others it gets messy and it's not as fun running your hands through it. I think 99.9% of my girlfriends have been the ones with long straight hair who use those straightening metal things in the mornings when they get out of the shower to make it even straighter i guess (seriously it'd be just as straight if they didn't iron their hair or whatever the do/did).

-Rudey
--Now that I think about it, no matter what I write about my hair, it'll sound gay.

SigmaChiCard 06-05-2001 09:20 AM

*What's your hairstyle?

My hair is very easy to manipulate
I alternate between:

1 high-fashion/wild with the ultra-
messy spikes going everywhere
2 high fashion/classy with the look once
associated with George Clooney with the
hair slighly shaped in the front
3 low fashion/ultra casual hair down
kinda swooping but not long enough to be
considered so

*Likes/Dislikes about your hair or other ppl's hair? Do you have a fave hairstyle that you like to see on the opposite sex?

I get my hair from both of my parents, it's almost too soft, and needs some sort of hold to exist at all in the outside world, but it's also good because, like Rudey, despite the mousse I use, my hair doesn't get hard at all, and if it does - combing my hand through it once or twice obliviates that problem

I enjoy Girls who have VERY short hair, hair that doesn't come past ones ears practically, quite a bit like Gwenyth Paltrow in 'Great Expectations' or hair that is short and wild/spikey - those are fun I think, polar opposites, but fun both ways, either party, or classy - but both can be achieved with that short hair

*Do you have any fave products for hair?

All the stufff I'm using right now is Physique, shamppo, conditioner, and mousse

My hair is by no means curly, but is thick - and for that reason I absolutely adore straightening shampoo which seems to kinda make it a little more stringy, thus easier to work with

ilovemyglo 06-05-2001 10:03 PM

*What's your hairstyle? .
I have long naturally curly hair that is about fifty shades of blonde (naturally). I do straighten it about half the time though because it is so much easier to deal with them. But it comes to past my should blades with an angled cut up front.

*Likes/Dislikes about your hair or other ppl's hair? Do you have a fave hairstyle that you like to see on the opposite sex?

I love my hair. It is versatile and the highlights everywhere are something many people pay for! I get a lot of compliments on my hair. It is really thick though and I live in KY where it is so HUMID!! That is okay though. I hate mullets and I see them everywhere (get with it people!) I hate girls that dye their hair a totally opposite color and then don't touch up the roots (it looks TRASHY!) or women who have bangs that they still curl up and tease (again GET WITH IT!).
*Do you have any fave products for hair?
I am always looking for things. Loreal Curl Vive is good. I love Scruples H2O though if you can find it (they have a volumizing foam that smells so GOOD!) and I also love KMS Root spray. It smells good and gives lift where you need it. You can also use it as a texturizer. For the summer I use Redken ALL SOFT it smells like tanning lotion. YUM!
*Any tips to share
If you have curly hair or frizzy hair it usually is from being dry so wash it every other day and condition it EVERY day. I know it sounds gross but your hair is so much healthier. I get mine cut every three months and I never have dead ends. Another thing, use a detangler if you straighten your hair (Redken again makes an EXTREME DETANGLER with conditioner that works really well!) it protects it from the heat too.

And guys with short hair please! Nothing under the ear lobe. Preferably not Hard as a rock cause then you don't want to run your fingers through it/

Ilovemyglo--you're so lucky!! I would love to have natural highlights in my hair!!! But, I use Feria sometimes, which gives me lots of highlights that ppl thought came from a salon http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif.

KillarneyRose--no problem, let me know how it all works out, ok? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Juniorgrrl--hahahahaha, thank you for the link--now I know what a mullet looks like!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

Shopgirl--should I get the Extra Virgin Olive Oil? I don't have any olive oil in the house right now, so soon I'll go out to the store to get some!! And Ithink I'll stay away from the Mayo for now http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif, the smell makes me nauseous! True story: whenever I eat mayonnaise, with anything other than potato salad, I get a very sick, nauseous feeling!!! Thank you so much for your tips!! You work for Clinique, right? That's so cool! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

shopgirl 06-06-2001 07:03 PM

Hey Newbie...

About the olive oil, I buy the extra virgin olive oil. Since it's best to use that one for cooking and dressings, I just stick with it. It's suppose to be better than regular olive oil, so yeah, do that. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif I hear ya on the mayo thing...yuk!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif Oh, and I forgot to say which TIGI products I use. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif I usually use Moisture Maniac b/c I'm so concerned with keeping my hair moisturized. There is also one called Vitamin something or other. I've used that one too. It's lighter than the Moisture Maniac, so that's good, BUT it doesn't smell as good in my opinion. I've tried Control Freak as well, but I think that's geared for a curly hair. I do have the Control Freak gel which tames my frizzies...and that's ALWAYS a plus. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif And last but not least I've tried Shine Junkie. It's suppose to add shine and tame frizzies. It smells really yummie, BUT I have to be very careful not to use too much, otherwise I'll look like a grease head. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif So, that's that on the TIGI products. I do recommend them...even if it's just for the scent. Yummie!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Yeah, I work for Clinique. It's pretty nice. It can be a lot of fun at times, but like all jobs there's a down side too. I think the pros out way the cons. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif It's not forever, so I try to enjoy it while I'm there. Thanks for asking. BTW, what year are you? Are you graduating this year or next?

Hi Shopgirl!!

Thanks so much for telling me all about the TIGI products...I love things that smell good! I'm so mad at myself...I totally forgot which hair prodcut which I had used/tried long time ago...but the product smelled like cookies n' cream!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif YUMMY!! YOu know, I just dyed my hair today (I'm a hairdye fanatic, LOL!) an auburn-ish color, but unfortunately, on my hair, it only shows up as a black-red-auburn color...but anyway, I used Feria this time, and whenever I use Feria...my hair always smells sooo good! I think it's b/c of the conditioner...I love it! It's such a wonderful deep conditioner http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif.

I just had a question...do you know how to re-touch your roots by yourself after you dye your hair? I don't know if you're the right person to ask (don't know if you dye your hair or not), but I thought you might know http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif. The directions for re-touching your roots are soo complicated!

Thanks for the tip on the extra virgin olive oil! Does adding olive oil to your cooking taste good? I've never had any (or I don't think I have!), so I wouldn't know!

Right now, I'm using the Moisture In-Control by Clinique and it's awesome! It doesn't make me feel greasy! Oh, I'll be graduating next year--I'm only a junior in HS (yeah, I guess I might be a bit overprepared for rush!). Have you graduated from the U of A already? And last but not least,
GO WILDCATS!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif haha

Hi Newbie!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gifThat's great that you are so prepared for rush. I wish I had more resources and had been involved a little more before I went through, but hey, that's o.k. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gifUnfortunately I have NO IDEA about retouching hair. I don't dye my hair but I have been thinking about highlights. I'm naturally blonde, but as I've gotten older, and am not in the sun as much (which is good anyway b/c the sun gives you wrinkles http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif), my hair is a little darker. However, I'm a little apprehensive about it AND I don't want to have to deal with the touch up thing. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif Anyway, so that's that. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gifAbout those conditioners that come in the hair dye boxes...my little sister has been on a rampage with hair dye and so I've had the oppurtunity to try those conditioners. I LOVE THEM!!! I wish I could buy them seperately. But oh well, what can you do? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif

http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gifAbout the olive oil. It is suppose to make your food taste better, but more than that it's healthier for you. If you can, ALWAYS substitute vegetable oil, even canola oil, for olive oil. I eat pretty healthy, but I can get better, so that's what I'm trying to do and that's what I've found out (about the olive oil) in my quest for a healthier life style.

My hair is a living, breathing thing all it's own.

Hair Type

What month is it?

LOL, right now:
middle of my back, black, straight

What I hate about my hair
~I'm not liking the length right now, but I'm keeping it long until the wedding is over. Afterwards, It's getting chopped ALL off to a extremely short 'do' (hopefully).
~I have extremely thick, course hair. It accepts curl well, but my hair NEVER does what I want it to.
~it takes me an hour to blow dry it, but if I don't blow dry it, it lookes extremely crazy and frizzy.
~I haven't seen a stylist since January and i'm dying to go because my hair is really in need of a trim and a re-dye and I usually go at LEAST every 2 months, but I will be going this weekend or next week (hopefully the weekend)

What I like about my hair
~it accepts curl and chemicals well
~my hair is SUPER HAIR--it grows extremely fast. My hair was about 3-4 inches long on top a year and a half ago and now it's to the middle of my back. While most people's hair grows an average of about 1/2 inch a month, mine grows between 1 and 2 inches a month.

Products I use
Panteen straight and sleek shampoo and conditioner
VO5 frizz and shine control
Paul Mitchel gel (used that when I had a perm in the winter, but works on my straight hair to help weight it down so it's not so 'big')
hot oil

Mine: Shoulder length black hair with brown highlights, I usually blow dry it straight, but every now and then I wear my hair naturally, curly.

Dislikes about my own hair: When it's curly I can't even bring a comb through it!

Likes about opposite sex hair: White guys with longer hair and black guys with shorter or no hair.

Favorite hair product: Frizz-ease!!!

Hi Shopgirl!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

I, too, have been thinking about getting highlights! The only 2 things that i'm apprehensive about are 1) the cost (even re-touching costs a lot http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif) 2) if the stylist messes up my hair (I have Asian hair, and I'm so afraid of the stylists turning my hair orange!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif Also, I know that I'll be so tempted to dye my hair regardless, so I don't know how dyeing your hair would impact the highlights (would probably turn it brassy?)
You know, it's actually very good that you have never dyed your hair! Sometimes I regret dyeing my hair, b/c ever since I've started (hmm, I think I started about freshman year in HS) I have never been able to stop!!! I have dyed my hair probably...hmm...close to 20 times??!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif Scary, isn't?! I'm not sure if it's been THAT much, but once you start--you can't stop! (I tried to stop dying my hair, by dyeing it black again, but then I got the urge to dye it all over again http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif LOL)

How old is your little sister? I've always wanted a younger sister! I always thought it would be fun to share hair, makeup, fashion tips, advice, etc. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif. I only have an older sister! Yes, I thought about that, too!!!!! I've always wondered how come L'oreal Feria doesn't sell its conditioner seperately!!! I know many people who use Feria, and they LOVE the conditioner!

Thanks for the tip on the olive oil! My mom and I always use canola oil in cooking...now I'll have to tell her how healthy it is http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif.

And CONGRATULATIONS on graduating!!!!! You must be sooo very excited http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif. All that hard work has finally paid off!!! Hey, do you know if the U of A b-ball team has a good recruiting class coming in??

mgdzkm433--CONGRATULATIONS on yoour upcoming marriage!! I know you will be one beautiful bride!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

*What's your hairstyle?*

Extremely close cut (almost bald)
medium copper golden blonde (that's what Loreal calls it)
and
natural (no relaxer)

*Likes/Dislikes about your hair or other ppl's hair? Do you have a fave hairstyle that you like to see on the opposite sex?

I despise any style that smacks of jerry curls, duck tails, relaxed hair <black male>

I don't know about the baseball thing. Sorry. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif

My little sister is 20. I'm 24. She lives with me now and will start the U of AZ in the fall. She's going to rush too. It's pretty cool to have her here. Growing up we were far enough in age where it made it difficult to hang out (think 13 vs 16), but now that we're older it's so much better. I've come to realize that she is my best friend. How old is your older sister? In college? In a sorority?

http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif Shopgirl!!!

You're so lucky to be so close w/your sister!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif My sister is 23...yep, big age difference there!!!! Is your sister interested in any particular sororities? Hey, you should persuade her to come onto GC, too!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif My sister is an alumna of UCLA, graduated '99 (well, walked in the ceremony in '00), and was a KD there. The age difference btwn my sister and me, I think, does not help any--but also b/c her personality and mine are so different! (I'm a dreamer, she's a rational.) But sometimes we are very close!! Unfortunately--it kinda depends on the day http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif. She has several "moods" sometimes http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif. But I love my sister very dearly!! I just wish sometimes that we had the closeness that you and your sister seem to have!!!

Oh, I meant basketball http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif. No worries though!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Hey there Newbie!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Don't get me wrong, my sister and I have our momentS...notice the plural http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif...They are just different momentS, compared to when we were younger. But anyway, that's pretty cool that your sister is a KD from UCLA. My sister is very interested in Sigma Kappa, for the obvious reasons http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif, but I have told her time and time again, that it's o.k. if she goes another way. She's kind of interested in Theta and Gamma Phi Beta, so we'll see. One of my sorority sisters has two sisters that go to our school, one is a PiPhi and the other went Gamma Phi. So, I understand that the sister, legacy thing doesn't always pan out. However, I really hope that it does in my case. I believe that your sister and I are from the same year. I should have graduated in '99 http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif, but I took some time off, so it held me back a bit. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif That's o.k. though. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Oh yeah, I don't know about the basketball thing, either...sorry...again http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

Hasta means "see you", such as Hasta Manana (see you tomorrow). I just say pasta to be silly http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/redface.gif...since it rhymes http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif!!!

gammazetagrl 06-09-2001 02:40 AM

My hair WAS long (like below the shoulder length), straight and natural jet black. I used to wear it up with hair sticks, braids, or in two buns (kinda like Chun Li from Street Fighter)...my roommate (who is African American and knows/loves hair)always experimented new styles on me and she also put twisties in the front. However, I kinda took my frustration out on my hair a couple days after my breakup and I got it cut real short. Now it's just below my chin. Oh well, it'll grow back--and nice to have the wash and go thing when u got a summer job. I hope it grows back long enough in time for our fall formal though lolz.

I use this black gel (recommended by my roommate) from Sally's whenever i recreate the twisties...it holds up great...and Aussies spritz when i curl it for going out. I use this Philippine hair products Sunsilk shampoo and Cream Silk conditioner in black shine.

On the opposite sex I have no preference for hairstyles...i like slightly floppy hair sometimes, where u can push it back with your fingers...buzz cuts are alright, and spiky is always cute. ;D

*What's your hairstyle?
Very dark w/ sorta light highlights, about medium length. I have natural curly hair, but I usually blow dry it straight.

*Likes/Dislikes about your hair or other ppl's hair?
Anglo whites should leave the black dye alone. Non-whites should leave that blond dye alone. Guys, if their hair is less straight, please keep keep those curls under control.

Do you have a fave hairstyle that you like to see on the opposite sex?
Depends on the guy.

*Do you have any fave products for hair?
Frizz-ease!!!!

*Any tips to share?
Sun-in...baaaaaaadddd!!!! :(
