Your GLO's "best" house.

- Defined however you want to define it (Largest (sq ft), newest, Nicest, Most members housed, etc.)
- Post a pic if you can find some.
- If you have opinions on other GLO's (perhaps you think a certain chapter on your campus HAS to be the nicest house of theirs) go ahead and post it.
- I'm off to do research

KSUViolet06 11-01-2007 12:20 PM

I'm not sure how to define "best" but I am particularly fond of the Delta Delta chapter house at UNC-Chapel Hill, which can be seen here:

^^^ "Define 'best' however you want to. For instance:

PIKE
Most people think FSU is their nicest
http://www.pikes.org/media/images/Pillars/h107.jpg

But I really like this Missouri Rolla one.
http://www.pikes.org/media/images/ChapterHouses/h34.jpg

But the "coolest" one of theirs in my opinion is the one that is in an old orphanage, and sits on several acres of land, and has like 5 buildings. Anyone remember what school that's at? I forgot.

Violet, there must be a couple on your campus you think are the best. KSU has AWESOME houses.

daydreamer1112 11-01-2007 12:38 PM

I just Googled "Alpha Chi Omega house" and got this beautiful result from Case Western Reserve University:

Here are some other gorgeous ones...

USC:

The Epsilon Omicron (Illinois State) chapter house is one that I think is nice.

banditone 11-01-2007 01:16 PM

Kappa Sigma
- I think Arkansas is considered their nicest, but I don't have any pics.

Ok, sorry I listed so many but there are so many Zeta houses to choose from that are all beautiful. I can't tell you which one is the biggest but I'm sure it's one of those. Makes me wish my chapter had had a house :(

FSUZeta 11-01-2007 03:04 PM

sthrnzeta, thanks for linking my house-beta gamma, fl. state- i think it is the prettiest zeta house around.

i believe that our alpha xi chapter at indiana u. holds the most girls-110 or there abouts.

http://psk50s.com/I've always been partial to our chapter house at Cornell.

Someone once told me they referred to this house at Cornell as the "Wedding Cake House"http://psk50s.com/

squirrely girl 11-01-2007 03:16 PM

those are BEAUTIFUL houses - and i really like the pdf format of the pics. great idea!

Cornell houses tend to be pretty impressive.

You can thank ZTA for that - that's just how they had them on the national site :)

FSU, thanks for the info, I knew it had to be one of those. Your chapter's house was one of my faves when I went through the map.

banditone 11-01-2007 03:38 PM

for ZTA I'd have to pic UNC. I think it's the patio going around that does it. Love that.

banditone 11-01-2007 03:39 PM

FIJI. I like their FIU house:

http://news.fiu.edu/fiunewsletter/oc.../frathouse.jpg

LXA SE285 11-01-2007 04:00 PM

The ZTA house at Bama looks almost exactly like the ZTA house at UGA:

That house looks ALOT like my sorority house at UGA. It's also called The Wedding Cake House!

Here are some that are worthy to post in this section I think.....

AOII house at GA Southern

AOII house at Cal Berkley
http://www.calaopi.com/images/chapter_house.JPG

AOII house at Cornell
http://www.greeks.cornell.edu/facts/...ew%20House.jpg

I wish I had a new picture of my chapter's house (Nu Beta at Ole Miss). We just finished a huge renovation, over a million dollars!

OleMissGlitter 11-01-2007 04:22 PM

Oh I forgot to say that I really love the ZTA house at U of Texas!

scarleteriberry 11-01-2007 04:31 PM

Gamma Phi

I really like these Gamma Phi Beta houses...

AOII house at U.Arkansas will take the trophy for them once comleted :D

AOII Angel 11-01-2007 06:41 PM

I think our most impressive house is Sigma's house at UC Berkley (Ole Miss Glitter posted it already.) This house was designed specifically for AOII and includes a design at each window that spells out AOII with architectural elements (i.e. arches.) I plan to visit next time I'm in town.

SWTXBelle 11-01-2007 07:57 PM

Those are two of my favorite Gamma Phi houses, too! I love the tower at N.D., and I've always been partial to Tudor -style.

AlwaysSAI 11-01-2007 07:58 PM

The SAI house at Northwestern-

http://groups.northwestern.edu/rha/halls-SAI.htm

The chapter at Ithaca College also has a house, but I can't find any pics.

This picture doesn't do the house justice. It is an amazing and quite impressive house.

As far as Texas goes, I like our house the most. SAE at SMU is very nice, but I like the fact that our house's style has more the the Texas/Hill Country type theme.

Bama is pretty hard to beat as well.

We really do have some superb houses down here in Austin......I've noticed a few people on here listing other chapters.

DUKyleXY 11-02-2007 01:43 AM

I think that as far as Delta U goes,Purdue has a great house!

But I think my own chapter house has gotten the most complements I know of.

Some of my fav Gamma Phi Beta houses, for different reasons:

Florida State (because the staircase is so cool): http://www.fsugammaphibeta.com/history.html

Cal Poly SLO (because they have a pool too!): http://www.gammaphibetaslo.com/page.php?page_id=2130

USC (because it's a beautiful property and also where I was initiated): http://www.gammaphibetausc.org/page.php?page_id=13295

Iowa State (just pretty): http://www.isugammaphi.com/houseTour.aspx

U-DUB (I love the dramatic door arch): http://students.washington.edu/gammaphi/

UCLA (the prettiest at UCLA IMHO): http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...US234%26sa%3DN

Wisconsin (LOVE all the ivy): http://www.uwgreek.com/

SMU (just so traditionally pretty): http://www.smugreeks.com/Panhellenic/index.htm

Those AOPi houses were awesome! Your housing corporation really does an awesome job, seldom do you see an AOPi house that isn't impressive in some way.

I have never seen the Iowa State house in person but it looks amazing.

One of my other favorite DU houses is our Colgate house.

I think the same goes for ZTA, especially on your Headquarters' website where it lists each house and shows pictures and states if it is a lodge, dorm suite, house, etc. Very nice. The ZTA houses at LSU and MS State are very nice too. When ZTA was at Ole Miss their house was gorgeous as well. I use to eat lunch there with my ZTA friends.

A lot of the chapter houses at Iowa State are unique, especially the older ones. I always loved ADPi's, Sigma Kappa's, and Gamma Phi's houses as well as SAE's, Kappa Sig's, and Pike's.
