I know that not many folks are going to be open to answering this question but, I'll ask it anyway. What is the intake process like for BGLO's?

Oh and add 3 cups of the episode of A Different World where Ron pledges Kappa Lambda Nu to the equation.

When you get to the point where you receive an application, you'll know.

If I tell you, I'll have to kill you. But I will say this, from what I have heard it is very similar to the intake process for the masons right down to the lines, numbers, crossing jackets, etc.

Because I was tired of crazy people PMing me. You can still email me at myfirstname.mylastname @ gmail.com if you want -- or, I will be on AIM in a second.

AKAShannon 10-23-2007 09:34 PM

Thanks ladygreek. If that is the case, then I am all too familiar. I mean that in a good way.

BlueNYC2 10-23-2007 11:24 PM

hol on....u're a Mason, i'm assuming by the travelman357 sn...PHA at that...so, you should already have a pretty good idea of what its gonna be like. i'll say this this...no 2 processes are alike. and why didnt you just bump one of you're old threads about the nphc orgs and just add this question in there?

Yes, I am that as well as a Shriner so, I have experienced some initiation processes. I have heard that the processes are similar but of course, I won't be sure until I experience the greek process myself. My goal is to just get some insights from those like yourself, who have already been through it.

Little32 10-24-2007 11:13 AM

Hey, why don't you tell us what the Mason initiation process is like in detail, and then we can tell you where there is overlap. (Of course, I expect that the fraternity members would have more to say about the overlap than sorority members.)

exactly....

mine involved a circle of fire, 9 pineapple, and a rusty nail...it was brutal..:(

if you're unwilling to share the initation process of the Masons then why would you think a member of a BGLO would on the net or elsewhere tell some random username anything, be for real....

OmegaPDPrez 10-24-2007 10:10 PM

Come on Ma! I could understand if I were asking for secrets but I'm not. I'm just looking for insights. Insights don't betray the fidelity one has for their organization. Oh, and I'm not trying to expose anyone either so, Relax.

Regardless, it's still taboo. It's not the sort of thing you're supposed to ask questions about, let alone on a public forum.

Senusret I 10-24-2007 11:36 PM

I'm curious as to how travelman got information about becoming a Mason and Shriner prior to doing it.....

Taboo? Says who? Yoy can't tell people that they can't ask questions. If you feel a question is inappropriate just don't answer it. There's no need to be hostile. :)

I could answer that question if I knew exactly what you meant by, "information". Are we talking general info, or deep ritual which by the way, I would never attempt to attain from any person or persons, under dishonorable means? Now, if there is no such thing as general info concerning greek intake processes, and if it is truly matter of security, then I understand.

Come on man, you know what I mean.

If you want to be a member of a BGLO, then all the "general information" you need is on our national websites. Or, you can ask a member in person. It's that simple.

Since you're a Mason, I find it very hard to believe that you don't have ANY fraternity members in your life that you can ask these questions of.

"Ask one to be one" doesn't just apply to Masonry.

Senusret I 10-25-2007 08:05 AM

Ya know..... never mind....

I feel like you've already been given all the advice you need on this matter. It's actually starting to be insulting.

As Cowboy said to you on 9-15:

1.) You are asking in the wrong place
2.) Go to the Omega Psi Phi website and learn the history!
3.) Talk directly to the Omega Men in the Chapter where you plan 2pledge

We cannot help you here.

She's not being hostile. She's telling you simple facts you can't seem to accept.

I feel you Senruset I. Actually, I do know how it works and I have talked to several greeks personally about what things are like. I just like to get as many perspectives as possible. Solid!!!!

The two are nothing alike, first Masons don't do an intake process, it is not pledging either, we have no crossing jackets (you haven't crossed anything), line numbers, or line names. Not fussing at you Ladygreek just clearing things up. If you are a Mason (Prince Hall only, the others don't count, yes I meant to offend, get right or get gone) and experienced these things then you were brought in WRONG. Masonry does not concern itself with such matters those are a Greek thing and to truly experience it one should become Greek. Having experienced both there are gentle similarities but overall they are different creatures all together.

Back to the subject, Square everything you need to proceed into a BGLO is in your lodge but if you think you can figure it out before you get in you are wasting your time before you became a Mason you were in the dark the same thing exist for Greekdom. Safe travels to you.

Senusret I 10-26-2007 08:39 AM

So I guess you didn't pick up on the fact that she was being sarcastic.
