deleted signatures

Ok, I go and post something about the so-cal fires ,and when it posted I was reading it I look down and my Alpha Phi and other signatures was not there. WHO deleted it? It has been there since 2002.......that is editing of my own signature/work and no one has that right since it has been there for a long time and it is not offensive.

There was a signature overhaul a few months ago and all signatures were reset. There's a line/content limit now (though I can't remember what it is off the top of my head). Do a search and you'll see the announcement from John.

ETA: Info about signatures in the FAQ

It was deleted and replaced with a generic one, not edited. So no one touched your precious work. It just left the building. Make a new one, check the FAQ for the rules.

/snarky because you made it more than it is.

lauralaylin 10-23-2007 01:46 PM

I believe there were emails about this in advance of it happening too in order to warn everyone.

cutiepatootie 10-23-2007 01:48 PM

Snarky is your terminology not mine. You are making it bigger then me or the post before you...i just wanted clarification!

thank you ISUKAPPA!:)

Um, actually, John Hammell owns this site and he can delete anything he wants to anytime he wants to for absolutely no reason, if he feels so inclined.

Don't get all agitated just because you didn't bother to read the email informing you. Everyone got one.

There were, as well as notices in various forums. It happened back in early July. This notice in the AKA Forum saved the email from John.

"GreekChat.com - The Fraternity & Sorority Greek Chat Network" was the default signature when the resets happened.

Kevin 10-23-2007 02:20 PM

And now 6 more pages of replies saying essentially the same thing as the first 3-4 posters...

You were huffy about people touching your "work." Turn the dial down a notch or two on your OP and my response would have been different.

Do try to spell my name right next time. It's not complicated.

Tom Earp 10-23-2007 03:40 PM

It is a good thing that everyone is so nice about this!:o

SthrnZeta 10-23-2007 05:13 PM

Tom, you ain't kiddin! Looks like to me that more people than the OP were taking it too seriously...

For posterity.

SthrnZeta 10-23-2007 05:19 PM

^^ Fair enough. I guess that's what happens when you take a step back. But still... ironic, don't you think (and I'm not talking about myself).

Ironic? Eh, not really.

Judging from past posts I've read over the years from the OP, she does have a tendency to overreact and I think many people who replied to her in this thread did so thinking the same thing.

You have an advantage then, I don't know the OP's post history, just basing my opinion on this post. I agree she started off wrong, but no need to jump the girl. She obviously cared a lot about her signature - and maybe it is hard to recreate...

Drolefille 10-23-2007 05:43 PM

I probably should know better... but why not

It's amusing when people think they're pissing you off.

I replied to her comment in the same civil tone that I have replied to yours. Also, I ask that everyone spell my name properly, again, civil. You're reading pissed into what isn't there.

And had she come on here with a "hey what happened to the signatures?" instead of a "this is editing of my work and no one has the right to do so" I would have reacted differently.

I'm fairly certain I've been almost entirely civil to you, so I'm rather amused that you seem to feel the need to target me. But, really, whatever floats your boat. Might want to unwad the panties first though, they're making you cranky.

/They always come back.

Maybe you should read the posts before hitting the quick reply button - I never said you were pissed, just that I thought some people were taking it too seriously, and that it was ironic since you have accused others of doing this. And do you need to react at all - not civil, snarky. And you admitted it yourself. And everytime I see your screen name, I see DroleFILE, that extra L always throws me. Interesting though how Drole rhymes with troll... :D Which bridge did you come out from under I wonder... ooh, I rhymed again! SCORE!

Then allow me to rephrase, you're reading "taking it seriously" into something when it isn't there. When you see me all huffed up about how mean people are being to me, then you can crow success to your (blessed) little hearts content.

I'll attempt to clarify again for you, the first reply: snarky. The second reply, the one you thought was taking you too seriously, civil. Not necessarily nice, civil.

It is clear however, you're trying to win some sort of "thing" here. I do hope you keep trying, life's more entertaining this way. Plus you're fulfilling the true spirit of the other site. Whine about snarking and then do it (or try to do it in this case) yourself.

*golf clap*

Nah, she wasn't wrong - cutiepatootie has a history of overreaction and generally being wrong. For her to rant about something that is common knowledge probably deserved the 'snark' she received. After all, posts like this clutter up the board and lead to stupid garbage like . . . this entire thread full of people who don't know what irony means.

You, as the person who doesn't know this history, should probably yield to people who know what they're talking about - although I realize you enjoy internet dick-waving contests, it's not good for the board as a whole or your IQ in specific. Stop.

ETA: BA?

cutiepatootie 10-23-2007 08:00 PM

First off, I didn't get an email. and second, why are you questioning my tone? I don't believe i need to dial it down maybe there are others who need to dial their tone down. I just merely asked something and am put on the firing wall for it.

OP, I think your "no one has a right" type language seemed a little silly to people who were around for the initial discussion of signature changes. It was discussed pretty thoroughly, I'd say. Many users were angry about it.

You didn't miss much other than knowing that yours was one of many that were changed and possibly knowing in advance what you need to change if you wanted to keep it.

You can recreate your old one as long as it fits the requirements.

Thanks for the compliment! SthrnZeta is a wonderful person. I'm proud to call her my sister.

SthrnZeta 10-24-2007 08:47 AM

Troll, I mean, Drole, it bothers you enough to make a comment about it earlier... you're always quick to correct someone's grammar and spelling on this board, as are others. Seems silly to me, unless it's so wrong that it makes the post incomprehensible... then I can see the justification in alerting a poster to their spell check feature...

As for the clown... yeah, definitely one of the creepier ones I've seen.

And I've grown to like "HPRL," also known as Greek Friends. That's where I go when I want to have the big girl conversations, I only come to GC now to play :D And you care enough about my posts that you have to go search me out in another forum... kinda pathetic if you ask me
