fav TV show(s) that no longer air

The early seasons of In Living Color, ESPECIALLY when they did Men On Film (two snaps up)....Saturday Night Live when Dana Carvey and Phil Hartman (RIP) were on. I loved the Hans and Frans, Donahue and George Bush skits. That was always the topic for Monday morning homeroom discussion. I can't forget The Cosby Show and Different World. I loved the early seasons of Comic View, you know, when it actually ran for a whole season instead of 2 weeks of new shows and the remaining season is reruns....

I loved Three's Company! That was my favorite show. With my age, I was only able to see the re-runs but now they don't even play them! That stinks http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif

ZChi4Life 08-13-2000 01:44 PM

12dn94dst, I know what you mean w/ Comic View. What's up w/ that? That's so annoying! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif
Let's see what are my fav shows? I should have a ton too cuz I'm a couch potato :P
Different World, Cosby Show, Living Single, Melrose Place (can we say smut t.v at it's best!), 90210 (but I loved M.P better), Who's the Boss,...I can't think of any more. I'll have to come back. There's a lot of cartoons I miss too...Thundercats, SilverHawks, Transformers (I'm a girl but I loved me some Transformers!). Do ya'll remember the Kid 'n' Play cartoon? LOL! And the MC Hammer cartoon?! LOL Yeah I have to come back cuz I know there are so many more.

Singing very loudly.....
"Come and knock on our door
We'll be waiting for you
where the kisses are
hers, and hers, and his
Three's company too"

I loved that show!!!!

A different world

tickledpink 08-13-2000 07:19 PM

OK, for those of you that are used to my posts, you knew I was going to add this sooner or later----

GOOD TIMES! I'm sorry, but I can't wake up at 5:30 am to catch the reruns. So, until then, I'll have to live with my intro 4.99 Florida Evans series. I want the Janet Jackson series (run Penny..., you know she's gettin' that iron!!), but I refuse to pay 24.99.

Serenity 08-13-2000 07:34 PM

Oooooh, some of those are my favorites too. I happen to love "The Jeffersons" as well.

heatherh1981 08-14-2000 10:30 AM

Mine would be Full House and The Wonder Years.

ZChi4Life 08-14-2000 08:58 PM

but can we say :
Benny Hill (remember that ya'll)

Wonder Woman
Yes, I remember Benny Hill!! I loved that show! And WW was the Bomb!

I also liked The Jeffersons, Good Times, and the Wonder Years.

And: Amen, Golden Girls (those old ladies were too funny! "Picture it, Sicily 1920.."). And does anyone remember that soap opera Generations?

tickledpink 08-14-2000 10:24 PM

Mama, I was watching The Wood the other day and heard them open with that song...

Sexy Mocha 08-14-2000 10:52 PM

I haven't heard anyone mention Dynasty in ages!!! And the Colbys?? I didn't think anyone remembered the Colbys!! Fallon was my girl! Jeff was sooo fine. Remember when Krystle slapped Alexis into the pool? Mama, you just brought back so many memories! I never watched Dallas but I sure remember when they had the cliffhanger of all time, then told us it was all a dream. Remember the bionic dog (Max)? And that sound that was made when Jamie was trying to hear with her bionic ear? And we all knew...the slower they ran...the faster they were going! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif What about those evil Fembots?
Benny Hill was hilarious! I liked the little, old bald man that Benny used to always slap around! I could go on and on about the old school shows...so I'll stop before I bring this topic into 3 or 4 pages on my own!!

Sexy Mocha 08-14-2000 11:03 PM

Aww heck! I gots to continue! Charlie's Angels was the bomb! Did they ever end up showing who Charlie was? (Remember all we ever heard was his voice..."Hello Angels
Who was you alls favorite angel? I was pretty partial to Kelly myself. The blonds changed too often (kind of like on Three's Company...Chrissy, Terri, the other one)...and Sabrina...well Sabrina was too butch for me.
Different Strokes...What you talkin' bout Willis?
I just loved the Jeffersons! Florence was no joke! I liked that woman's attitude! Remember the Halloween epsisode? When Weezee, through her new telesccope, saw the man in the big, white rabbit suit kill someone!! Now those were the days! Ok, I'm going to stop now...really.

MaMaBuddha 08-15-2000 12:39 AM

SoloRHO 08-15-2000 12:46 AM

Oh so many choices.
I really miss "What's happening" with Rog and Rerun and Dee (Hey Hey Hey!!!)!
I miss that show "Small Wonder" with the robotic daughter Vicki and that bratty next door neighbor Harriet. I also miss the "Wonder Years" (Didn't it kill you every time Kevin and Winnie broke up)
I miss "The Facts of Life" (Sisterhood at it's best)
I miss "The Incredible Hulk" and the A-Team
I miss "Different World" the most though.
But most of all I miss the cartoons I used to come home from school to:
Gummi Bears
Duck Tales
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
BeetleJuice
Alvin and the CHIPMUNKS (Alvin Simon Theadore!)
Thats all for now...

FlyPhi 08-15-2000 02:19 AM

I miss The Mickey Mouse Club, not the really old ones but MMC. I also miss Kids Inc. That show was the best!

Some of my other favs:
Bossom Buddies
Charles in Charge
A Different World
Facts of Life
Cosby Show
California Dreams
Saved by the bell (the college years too!)
Woozles (sp?)
Care Bears
oh there are just too many!

My Fav SNL sketch was the Sorority Girl one. The one where they answered the phone "Delta Delta Delta, Can I help ya help ya help ya" That was soooo funny! It was just so stupid that it made me laugh my butt off! They don't ever re-run it, someone told me that Delta Delta Delta sued SNL for illegal use of thier name.

Oh my goodness, how can I forget about Saved By the Bell!!! I think I saw each episode like about 50+ each!! Didn't ya'll just love Slater?...those dimples...aaaahhhh to die for! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

And how can I forget about Alvin and the Chipmunks?! I had that Christmas album (yes, album!) Remember the "Hula-Hoop" song? "I still want my huuuu-la hoop"! Ah the memories!

Facts of Life was cool too--couldn't you just slap Blair sometimes w/ her stuck up attitude? But she turned out to be ok sometimes.

Here's some more cartoons:
She-Ra and He-Man
Dungeons and Dragons
Rainbow Brite
My Little Ponies
Pound Puppies
The Get-a-Long Gang
The Snorkles
Curious George (the show w/ the little monkey)

Did anyone watch "Today's Special"? It came on the Canadian channel where I live
(Detroit).

Remember Schoolhouse Rocks? Conjunction junction what's the function (is that how it went?)

Oh and did anyone watch Mr. Dressup? Man, couldn't he draw? I wanted to draw like him so bad. I loved that show.

Alumnus who cares 08-15-2000 01:37 PM

Speaking of Road Runner, I always got a kick out of how Wile E. Coyote would run off the edge of a cliff (or ride off the edge on his Acme rocket scooter) and go straight out for 100 feet, then all of a sudden look down and realize that he was no longer on solid ground, and stop to look up and wave sadly at the audience before he plummeted 1000 feet.

ZChi4Life 08-15-2000 02:52 PM

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!

I still watched GI Joe all the way through high school, before i left in the morning, that and Mighty Max! I really dug on Sesame Street when I was little, and Mr. Rogers, but the coolest had to be...Picture Pages! Bill Cosby was soooo cool. I think it might have been on during Fat Albert, for like 5-10 min, can't really remember. I do know I had the Picture Pages Coloring book, and that cool as hell pen!

I also watched Voltron, He-Man, Thundercats, Transformers, MASK, and about a million other cartoons!

Since I've never been a cartoon fanatic, can someone please explain to me just WHY Wile E. Coyote was always chasing the Road Runner? I mean, I am aware that the chase was always in vain because the Road Runner was too fast but did Wile E. ever think to just stop running after him? Did it become an obsession or what? Was Road Runner constantly doing things to provoke the chase? I don't understand.

Dang, gurll, don't you have cable TV? Half the shows you mentioned are currently rerun on one cable show or another.

Incredible Hulk is on the Sci-Fi Channel
The A-Team and I think the Wonder Years is on Nick-at-Nite and/or TV Land.
The Facts of Life used to be on the USA Network about a year or two ago. I think it will also air on TV Land or Nick at Nite this fall.
Alvin & The Chipmunks is on the Cartoon Network in the mornings.
Different World is on UPN 43 if you live in the Cleveland area or has a cable system that gets that station.
For all you Cosby Show/Different World lovers, here in Columbus we get both shows locally on Channel 19 (a non-cable low power station).

SoloRho, you needs to get that satellite dish hooked up, you missin' all the good stuff. *big @$$ grin*

Who's the Boss was one of my favorite shows. I watched it all the time. Also, Step By Step (w/Suzanne Somers), Hangin' With Mr. Cooper, Gilligan's Island, Melrose Place. And, I really liked Blossom.

When I think of more, I'll list them.

Yeah RainMan, I know. Unfortunately not only don't I have REAL cable (I got the "hook up". You get whatever channels decide not to be scrambled that day!) I don't have much time for TV either. But now that I know, maybe I'll go on a hunt for those shows. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Zchi4Life...when you mentioned school houserocks...i had to go back and listen to the CD's....i have the set....

Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
Hooking up words and phrases and clauses.
Conjunction Junction, how's that function?
I got three favorite cars
That get most of my job done.
Conjunction Junction, what's their function?
I got "and", "but", and "or",
They'll get you pretty far.

"And":
That's an additive, like "this and that".
"But":
That's sort of the opposite,
"Not this *but* that".
And then there's "or":
O-R, when you have a choice like
"This or that".
"And", "but", and "or",
Get you pretty far.

Conjunction Junction, what's your function?
Hooking up two boxcars and making 'em run right.
Milk and honey, bread and butter, peas and rice.
Hey that's nice!
Dirty but happy, digging and scratching,
Losing your shoe and a button or two.
He's poor but honest, sad but true,
Boo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!

c&c1913, did you say She-Ra, 'cuz I have always personally identified with her. It's like I was She-Ra, Princess of Power. *sigh* Those were the days . . .

Of course, I did have to go to bed at 9pm, so I guess those days weren't all that great . . .

mwedzi,

I had the she-ra coloring book, cut-outs (the paper ones where you can change their clothes) **Does anyone rememeber those types of "paper" dolls?**
I can't tell you how many times I watched the video where she and he-man find out they were sister and brother!

Wooo, just had a Good Times rush. Entertainment TV (cable) just had a special on the cast of Good Times. It's amazing how much Michael and JJ have changed. Thelma basically looks the same, though.
