You know you're a Zeta when...
... You speed up to get even with the car next to you because you saw a ZTA sticker in their back window and wonder if you'd look like a dork if you waived or better yet, made the crown sign with your hands at them
... think if you made your wedding colors blue and grey, you could pass the blue off as Tiffany blue and secretly it'd be for Zeta ... buy Strawberry-scented everything ... everybody at work knows you're a Zeta and how your chapter's doing and what events are happening this week ...the minute you see somone out in public wearing something with ZTA on it, you feel the urge to immediately go introduce yourself Ok, that's all I have for now :) |
You know you're a Zeta when...
You eat way too much Yoplait yogurt to collect the lids for Breast Cancer Awareness!
|
You Know You're a Zeta if.....
........ you find yourself in a store saying.... no no, that Crown has the WRONG number of points.

OMG, I totally forgot that one. THAT's one I do a lot since princess stuff is so popular right now.

You know your a Zeta when you have to check every $1 ribbon bin for all the turquiose and grey ribbon! (even if you have no real use for it--you will!) |
You have a personalized / vanity license plate that says ZETA.
Your husband says that one of the guys at work saw the ZTA sticker on his vehicle and knew what it stood for. The guy has a ZTA sticker on his car from his wife, too. :) Every time you see a pink ribbon, you immediately think of the Susan G. Komen breast cancer foundation. |
Everyone who knows you knows that when picking out a gift that something with
turquoise or silver would be perfect! |
When you (and your significant other!) can glance at a crown, and without even counting, be able to tell if it has 5 points or not.
When you spend weeks teaching the new members the right way to say "Tau." |

You know you're a Zeta when...
-your 13 year old SON & your 11 year old daughter also do many of the above-mentioned things. -your children ask any teacher that mentions fraternity/sorority what group they are in and volunteer your affiliation. -your children can sing the Greek alphabet, spell all the words and write the letters in upper and lower case. -your then 7 year old daughter had a conversation with ZTA national officers about opening a chapter at Yale or Harvard someday (where she plans to attend) and was given tentative permission! -your daughter helps plan legacy events for your alumnae chapter. -your husband automatically assumes that package in the mail is a Zeta item bought on Ebay and he's usually correct. -your husband knows he will be a very happy man (ahem) for a long time if he buys a diamond, diamond/amethyst or pink sapphire badge from I/O for your birthday, Christmas, Valentine's, anniversary, Founders Day or just because he wants both of you to be happy. Really, really happy. -a friend in another org jokingly (?) threatens bodily harm if her daughter joins Zeta some day because her daughter knows more about ZTA than her mom's org. -and then another friend does it. -oops, another one!? Sorry. -and so you end up recruiting other NPC friends to get more involved in their own local alumnae associations because you enjoy ZTA so much and they think that is cool. |
Radio, you crack me up! :D
|
The week of your wedding you're reminded of chapter wedding traditions from an older alumna!
(Thanks Milly!) |

your scour stores, websites and catalogues months(even years) in advance trying to secure items for zeta day raffles.

Your non-greek friend gives you a little Vera Bradley coinpurse in grays and turquoise and for a second you think, "How'd she know...?"

Look at the Java Blue pattern...turquoises, a little grey, and browns. I don't really like VB stuff as a general rule, but this is quite pretty. Not quite 100% ZTA colors, but close.

A friend of mine has a bag in this color! I usually don't like Vera Bradley either (I'm a Coach and Kate Spade girl) but that is a pretty pattern since those colors go so well together!
|
You know you're a Zeta
...when you burst out crying any time you hear the song "Feels Like Home." ...whenever someone says the world "love" and you immediately want to yell "the greatest of all things!" ...when you love Easter time because of all the bunnies! (Though I think that's just a southern thing) ...when you insist to your science professors that T-A-U is not pronounced like the first part of "towel" and you cringe listening to them. And *personal experience here* you know you're an ultimate Zeta nerd when you meet 3 people whose names are Sarah, Courtney, and Whitney and you think "How cute! Sarah Strawberry, Courtney Crown, and Whitney White Violet!" |

I wanna cry just thinking about it!!! :o |

For me, it's "I Would Give Everything I Own" (I think that's what it's called) by Bread. Before I heard this song on the rush video when I went through as a PNM, it was my parents' song (heck, their BAND since everything by them is their song) but now it reminds me of pledging Zeta :)

We didn't use it at my chapter, now I wish we had. It is beautiful! Quote:
We sang this while I was still a collegiate at our chapter's 15-year anniversary to the alumnae. Needless to say, there were a heck of a lot of tears from everyone. |

and i never ever thought of that vera pattern as ZTAish, but i have a purse in that pattern. my chapter bought the napkins in the new hope pattern and we made letter shirts out of them, since parts of the proceeds go to breast cancer research. this list is great! |
- Look for strawberry items of any kind on ebay
- Look for crown items on ebay - Impulse buy things just because they may be turquiose (bonus for crown, violet, or strawberry) - Anything that contains a combo of the items listed above - Spent time making your own special pin box (just finished making mine! post pics?) *Seriously I just got strawberry scented pink lotion because it also had a silver crown on the bottle. Meh, you always need more lotion. |
Yes please on the pics! Who knows, you may start a home buisness if they're super cute! ;)

I get chills during Today and Forever.

my ex, who i've suprisingly remained semi- friends with :-/, seems to get excited when he sees five pointed crowns (he'll even count them out loud, i guess to make sure theres five??). he also thought it was the coolest thing when he saw one of the local judges on tv wearing a five pointed crown ring (he just "knows" she's a zeta). and finally just the other day he told hopes his (future) daughter(s) to be zeta(s)
|
-you see crowns EVERYWHERE that you never saw before
-you doodle crowns & strawberries on everything when you're bored -you switch your ZTA car magnet from car to car, depending which one you're driving (this drives my parents insane!) -strawberries just seem to taste better -you've considered getting, or have, a crown tattoo -you have the DJ $crilla ZTA song set as your ringtone |

How do you say "tau"? Does it rhyme with law or now? I say it rhymes with law, but I've heard it both ways and have gotten into arguments with people over the right way to say it. Also, a crown with 5 points just looks "right". It has to be an odd number, to have a point in the center. 3 is not enough, 7 is too much. 5 is just right. Maybe the Hallmark crown (based off of ZTA ironically) is just the prototypical crown. |
Tau is pronounced T-A -U
I mean really that's how it sounds. Doesn't rhyme with now.. I guess law would be the best. Many people say it like they are saying tow-el, but from what I have heard from my fellow sisters it is not TA-OW this is what they taught us (tau-ght) -> (that's another good one) in New Member classes. I am curious also what other people think. But I hope that helps. I got into an argument with some LXAs (whom I adore) and made them recite to me the greek alphabet -they got to tau and were like oohhhhhhh I get it now! DUH! |
i was taught - tau as in paw not tau as in cow.
it is funny what you remember! |
