I saw this trailer (while waiting for Why Did I Get Married?).

It looked to be very funny. I will likely be all over it.

kiml122 10-16-2007 01:25 PM

Yes, I saw the trailor for it as well when I went to see Why Did I Get Married...yeah it lookied funny as hell along with that Martin Lawrence, James Earl Jones & Monique moviewhich come out I think in 2-08, so between American Gangster and This Christmas the next 2 months should be good movie months.

ttt

Looking forward to it! If the family can roll off the couch after turkey and dressing and greens (and I'll stop now), we'll be watching it on Thursday night.

I heard Mekhi Phifer on Steve Harvey Morning Show, and it was mentioned that his would be the first Christmas movie with a majority black cast. It never dawned on me until (Exec Producer) Mekhi was asked why has it taken so long to get a "black Christmas movie".

AKA2D '91 11-19-2007 10:31 PM

They don't consider The Preacher's Wife as a Christmas movie?

Dang. I never watched that movie. Guess not. Maybe they meant that this is the first original Christmas movie with a majority black cast because "The Preacher's Wife" is based on "The Bishop's Wife". It's just a guess.

AKA2D '91 11-19-2007 10:59 PM

Yeah. I guess that's it.

Not only is Mekhi Phifer producing the moive, but it's from his production company.

Gina1201 11-20-2007 08:22 PM

Going to see it on Thursday after I eat.

RitaMae1908 11-20-2007 08:27 PM

I too will be at the nearest movie theatre on Thanksgiving.

*Thinking that Columbus Short is some sessy* :D

AKA2D '91 11-21-2007 12:51 PM

Why is it that the local paper in BR does NOT have this movie listed at all online?
Why is it that I had to call the location I want to go see it only to get the movie times? Then, I go to yahoo movies and it's being shown in almost every theater in the city.

I smell Sabotage. Those doggone M-people. Thank Goodness I know how investigate.

CrimsonTide4 11-21-2007 12:58 PM

I'm going to the morning matinee to see it tomorrow.

FeeFee 11-21-2007 04:02 PM

I plan to see it this weekend.

AKA2D '91 11-21-2007 07:11 PM

All I'm going to say is... BABY OIL and stay until you see the credits roll! LMAO

ETA: There are 3 or 4 movies coming between December and February that "we" may want to check out.

I'm going to go see it tomorrow. You mention to stay until you see the credits roll - I have a couple of friends that I don't like going to the movies with, because as soon as the end comes up, they're gone! I stay until the last minute because sometimes the best scenes come at the end.

RedefinedDiva 11-22-2007 01:12 PM

The credits usually have the funny stuff. I LOVE outtakes!

f8nacn 11-22-2007 02:49 PM

I saw this yesterday - the movie was great!

The baby oil scene was classic!!!!! Once the credits start rolling, BTB, you're good to go. Great segue to the credits as well.

I looooved this movie. I even teared up at the church scene. I gained new respect for Chris Brown too.

There are some great movies coming out over the next 3 months that are made for us.

Gina1201 11-22-2007 09:08 PM

I loved it!! I took my grandfather to see it and even he said he liked it. He usually doesn't like anything. Another movie to add to the collection.

Ok now! I'm taking Bri tomorrow :)

soulfulremix 11-23-2007 09:20 AM

I saw "This Christmas" last night! It was GREAT!! I could imagine my family members in some of the Wynnefield's roles. Chris Brown was adorable. The baby oil scene caused our theater to erupt with laughter. I may be seeing it again tonight.

RedefinedDiva 11-23-2007 02:02 PM

I'll be seeing it as soon as finals end. I'll put it on my "to do" list for December 13th. :D

kiml122 11-23-2007 06:12 PM

Dang, I can't see it until nexgt weekend, and yup y'all have me amped to see it!!:) I just that Morris Chestnut and Gaggy Union preview which comes out 12-12 that I can't wait to see as well.

jubilance1922 11-23-2007 08:09 PM

I saw it this afternoon with my mom and sister. We all loved it. It was really cute and wholesome, but entertaining as well.

I was happy to see my young boy Chris Brown, but dang does he have a little chest!

ladygreek 11-23-2007 09:32 PM

It was wonderful. Of course I teared up at the last dinner scene. Chris Brown is allllllllllllllright (meant in the good sense.) And Idris is...well he's Idris.

I want to see the films that were previewed.

BlessedOne04 11-23-2007 11:34 PM

This movie was tight! I am going to keep that baby oil thing in mind just in case someone step out of line!!! LOL

If only for the credits I need to get this on DVD.

One of the things I liked about it is that it wasn't just a Soulfood knock-off.

They definitely have some good ones coming out soon...

Velocity_14 11-24-2007 01:26 AM

Well, I was supposed to go and see it today with my best friend but today she was acting like a party pooper. I will probably catch it next week; I have heard and read good things about it so I'm actually kind of excited to see it...and that new Morris Chesnut movie coming out on the 12th of Dec.....uuuummmm Morris. Anyhoo...peace and hairgrease!!

titan257 11-24-2007 11:56 PM

It was a good movie to see during the holidays really makes you feel in the holiday spirit. Even though Hot 97 was tryna play it off as another black movie with no plot. It was pretty good. Plus seeing Columbus Short in anything is always a plus for me! I give it two thumbs up

DSTCHAOS 11-25-2007 01:07 AM

It was good but it tried to do too much.

They added a secret interracial marriage, dude was awol(sp), Chris Brown wanted to be a singer, Idris' fine behind was in serious debt, Joe Black was shacking up with Loretta, dude got his butt whooped by Regina King.....

And I just want to know why dude from Stomp the Yard kept stealing Chris Brown's shine. Everytime Chis Brown sang, something went down that took the attention away from Chris Brown. He was basically just background vocals for the main themes of the movie.

Marie 11-25-2007 06:46 PM

Mmmm, I thought that the movie was decent. My only complaint was the lack of positive black male images. Normally, I am not the type of person who usually makes a big deal about that sort of thing. However, in this movie the theme of absentee men and single black women seemed to be greater than before. I really hoped that Regina King's husband wasn't cheating. I was prepared for him to be involved in some shady business stuff, but I wasn't a fan of the affair. I also thought that they could have done w/o the AWOL theme. It was all just a bit much.

abaici 11-25-2007 11:21 PM

I took my Chris Brown obsessed little cousin to see it Friday. I didn't care for it. But, my man Idris helped me make it through.

exquizit 11-25-2007 11:27 PM

I enjoyed it & loved the "baby oil" :D

It made me miss the "old" holiday gatherings @ my mom's house. I give it a thumbs up

GodlyAspiringDr 12-09-2007 06:59 PM

Finally saw it today... thought it was good... worth the $10.

RedAngel 12-10-2007 08:43 AM

I thought it was a good film. I loved the baby oil, Idris and how Joe Black took care of business. I also liked the fact that everybody (or just about everybody) had a secret in the film.
