It's almost October - let's talk baseball playoffs!
I can't believe there hasn't been a baseball thread all season - and this is a pretty exciting weekend.
...especially since the CHICAGO CUBS are the NL Central Division champions! :D |

I was down in Wrigleyville on Friday night (at Goose Island) and poured out with the crowd down to Clark and Addison. Definitely a fun night.
Going to the NLDS game on Saturday. Anyone else going? |
GO YANKEES!!!!
|
Well, I have at least one more day before this can become official, but I'm still going to say...
GO PADRES! |
Well my Mets gave away the NL East, so I think I might actually root for the Phillies. At least they played like they wanted it.

They found, when they needed it the most, that they had some rather good, young players already on board. |
Oh Paps.. please never change. Your spandex wearing dancing has made my weekend...

I was reading today that the Yankees combined salaries are 3 times of the Indians (Cleveland has the 2nd lowest salary total in the AL). The Yankees have 10 players receiving $10million + per year, with 3 over $20 mm. The Indians highest paid player is CC making $8.75 mm per year. The Padres only have one player at $10mm. I hate to see Steinbrenner buy his team that way. I think he is still mad that he couldn't buy the Indians back in the 70s. Greed typically isn't a trait of Cleveland natives. |

They did indeed. That was a great game! |

And the Yanks have the money to spend any way that they wish to. Just between merchandise and YES=$$$$$$ Add in new stadium..... Sports (most sports) have not been pure sports in years. More like entertainment+business+sport=money. We could start a whole thread on this but lets try to keep this thread "pure" to OP's starting point. |
baseball is still going on???

But then, you know, apparently I'm not a true Met fan. :p |

From a business POV From a fans POV These two are almost always very different from each other. While both wants to win (most of the time) they are very different in other aspects. Just something to think about :) |

You are not a real Mets fan unless you answer yes to both questions. |

IT'S TRIBE TIME!!!!!!!! |

When did I say I didn't cheer them on when they weren't doing well? I was there all September, watching almost every game on TV, hoping and praying (and cheering!) until the very last out on Sunday. Not only that, but I've been cheering them on over the years even when they really sucked. I don't know where you're getting this from. ETA: And I still have Mets stuff on my car... and not planning on taking it off... so....???? |

What it costs to win
If you take each team's payroll and divide it by the number of wins in 2007, the cost per win for the Indians is a little over $600,000. The Red Sox are about $1.2 million per win. The Yankees... OVER $2 MILLION PER WIN.
The Yanks are getting skunked tonight. Go Boys of Summer. It's Tribe Time!!! :):):):):) |
Yanks took a whippin'
|
Beckett was sick the other night. I love watching him pitch.
|
Watch for me at the Red Sox game! Section 6 Row 11....:p

Let's Go Red Sox!!
Ree, I'm insanely jealous. BUT, if they win this series, I have tickets for game 1 of the ALCS. Fingers crossed! |
One hour to go before *****o goes into pitch. Dinner-time game in Cleveland.
Evidently....GC doesn't like Carmona's first name..... |
