Greek Aprons

Has anyone seen these:

Haute Hostess Aprons

They have a whole sorority line started... and run about $100 each!

Yikes! Sorry, but those seem SO not flattering. Those big taffeta bows at the waistline -- have they learned nothing from all the protesting bridesmaids in the world???

SWTXBelle 09-28-2007 12:51 PM

Is it just me, or is it just some tulle, with rick rack and a satin bow sash???

nittanyalum 09-28-2007 12:53 PM

Yes, for $100.

AlphaFrog 09-28-2007 01:00 PM

KAT's makes me think of Charlie Brown, not KAT.:p

Yikes...I didn't see the individual pics. Wow those are some tacky getups.

texas*princess 09-28-2007 01:14 PM

How can they be called aprons?

Do they mean like cooking aprons? 'Cause those sheer things would hardly help in the kitchen.

And since we know pnms can be judgemental during recruitment, a chapter would run the risk of getting cut by the pnm for wearing those hideous-bowed creations during recruitment. :( I'd hate to see how LMV would describe them come rush time :p

AOII Angel 09-28-2007 01:22 PM

Tacky.

I was expecting to see real cooking aprons before I clicked on the link.

Real sorority/fraternity cooking aprons might be a cute way to show your pride at BBQs, or when participating in community service (i.e. serving food).

SWTXBelle 09-28-2007 02:24 PM

I think the community service would be better served by taking the $100 you were going to spend on the apron and giving it to them!

LatinaAlumna 09-28-2007 02:36 PM

^^LOL! True! :)

33girl 09-28-2007 03:00 PM

umm, these look like something from a porno movie.

LPIDelta 09-28-2007 03:07 PM

I assume these would be used for recruitment when standing behind the punch bowl or the like?

Otherwise, I don't know that most husbands would really care if the wife's lingerie/ maid costume was in sorority colors.

SydneyK 09-28-2007 03:10 PM

Yeah, but as t*p said, pnms can be so judgmental... I can't imagine what they'd think if they saw someone wearing one of these things.

I'm still not sure I understand what makes it an apron.

elizabethscokinproductions....methinks elizabeth is cokin' all right!

The Phi Mu photo is SCARY. It reminds me of a clown for some reason.

Did you notice the "$3.99 a Pounce" sign hanging from the table with the candy/crack? The models in the KKG apron picture look like those drug-addicted twins from the Dr. Phil house.

MellySK 09-28-2007 09:18 PM

I don't get why you'd where those? And the wedding ones....WHY would you wear an apron to a wedding? I'm so perplexed!

PhrozenGod01 09-28-2007 10:23 PM

Yeah, I thought I was going to actually find a link to getting something nice and cold I could grill with...

The thread should be labeled "$100 Apron-dress thingy with a big Christmas bow".

SWTXBelle 09-28-2007 10:24 PM

I'm so glad it's not just me - I have just been scratching my head trying to figure out 1.) why anyone would want one of these and 2.) why they would spend $100 for it.

That's what I wanted to know.

honeychile 09-28-2007 11:02 PM

Those models are terribly frightening! What's with the eye makeup on them?

We've been toying with Williams-Sonoma aprons with a slogan on them, and at $46/per, we had trouble justifying those. A hundred dollars an apron that doesn't even look as if it would stand up to an alumna's work during Recruitment is just outrageous!!

exactly! They're not functional, and to be honest, why would you wear an apron that wasn't funcational?

Maybe I just hate aprons, when I was about 10 my grandma made my mother and I matching aprons - they were actually nice, supposed to be used for holidays and what not while in the kitchen, but I always hated it.

Xidelt 09-28-2007 11:02 PM

As I was trying to find the wedding aprons, I saw the "high fashion" ones that cost $300 and are dry clean only. Even if you only wear these to look cute at a party, who would want to pay that much? And God forbid you spill anything on them while playing hostess!

my bigger question is why would you wear it to be cute at a party? They aren't cute:p

Some nationalities have a special dance that involves an apron. I couldn't tell you which or why, but I've seen photos of them.

So true! Many of them looked like reject 80s prom dresses, with the dropped waists, double ruffle, and shiny pastel satin.:(

Drolefille 09-28-2007 11:23 PM

They make me think of the Japanese Goth-lolita fad.
