Best Concert you've ever seen

I would have to say Pearl Jam a few years ago

SSS1365 05-22-2001 11:47 AM

I've only ever been to one concert (excluding festivals and stuff) http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/redface.gif So I would have to say 3 Doors Down http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

The 96.3 Holiday Hootenany two years ago. It was Edwin McCain, Semisonic, Better than Ezra, and the Goo Goo Dolls. It was amazing!

Barenaked Ladies, the day before the millenium at Nassau Colliseum. Great show, great seat. Me and my friends decided to go at the last minute. hold and behold, we were 5 rows to the left of the stage.

Phish New Years Ball at Madison Square Garden -2nd Best

Michael Jackson had a concert here in 97 and that was amazing! I think he hasn't performed anywhere else in the US for a while but he came to Hawaii. Janet came a year later and she packed the stadium..

K y'all don't laugh, but my ultimate favorite was the NSYNC millenium concert series. What a way to ring in 2000.

Well, let's see. They are all on different levels!

Jimmy Buffett is defanatly one of my favs to see in concert. I especially love the pre-concert tailgating. Everyone is so friendly and willing to lend you a hot dog if you need one. So he's one of the best outdoor concerts ever.

Then there's Dave Matthews, who ROCKED in concert! I don't know if it was the tequilla or the music that led me to leave my number with my waiter pre-concert, but now I'm marrying him and dave will always have a special place in my heart.

Then there is the Dixie Chicks. Can we say AWESOME in concert. It might have been the night that my Fiance proposed--but it still would have been an awesome night listening to them if he hadn't!

juniorgrrl 05-22-2001 01:51 PM

Jimmy Buffett, New Orleans, December 4, 1999

The best part is I was able to get an audio file of the concert off the internet and make a CD of the show - what an awesome souveneir!

Mine would have to be Aerosmith in Boston, July 11, 1997! I love Aerosmith and to see them in their hometown was the best (that and the tix were free......grad present from my parents....they knew Aerosmith would be playing when we visited Boston and got my buds there to get me tix with them!) That was by far the best concert I have been to.

I just wish I could see them in their World Tour this summer (can't go to Boston to see them, I'm working to save for school) But I'm still working on my honey to take me somewhere nearby our place in Florida to see them play!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

I really want to see them this summer too, but the closest they're playing to where I live is 3 hours away and it's on a Sunday night. Unfortunately I have my summer class the next day, so I can't go http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif

Gotta be between Prince's Emancipation Tour, and D'Angelo's Voodoo Tour. I was acting unladylike at both of them!

SigmaChiCard 05-23-2001 12:03 AM

It's up between Green Day in a high school gym when BJ armstrong put on my shirt

DMB when he played every great song, and I was at the perfect ammount of intoxication

or Ben Harper when I was center stage front row, and there was no huge crowd pushing, and we could all just dance

33girl 05-23-2001 12:20 AM

Definitely my man Billy Joel http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

LXA1048 05-23-2001 12:29 AM

Phish in Nashville, when Ricky Skaggs came out and they played an hour of bluegrass music and then Wynona Judd sang Free Bird with phish. It was amazing.

SigmaChiCard 05-23-2001 12:30 AM

my phish concert in nashville last year wasn't too great

i love phish - held up with dylan as best ever
but that show blew

dzrose93 05-23-2001 12:50 AM

Jimmy Buffett - Of course!!

Thrillhouse 05-23-2001 01:58 AM

Any Family Values tours are cool too

TechADPI 05-23-2001 11:47 AM

I would have to say one of my favorite would be The Edge Christmas concert my Senior year in High School with Bowling for Soup, Blink-182, and Bush. And the other is Edge Fest this year with Oleander, Orgy, Fuel, Weezer(I got their autographs!), The Cult, Flicker Stick, Dolly Braid, Dexter Freebish(I love them!!!), and LifeHouse. Poe was on the side stage, but I didn't get to hear her perform. It was a really GREAT concert!

Mikki,

We've got the same taste in music! Dixie Chicks are awesome in concert. I saw them a couple of summers ago when they were touring with Tim McGraw. Unfortunately, there was a major wreck on the interstate, so we got to the concert late and only got to see a couple of their songs performed. But they were wonderful!

I have to agree with 33girl...I've seen Billy Joel twice, and the first time was my favorite concert ever. That one was at the Assembly Hall in Champaign, IL in fall of 1994. He has so many great songs, his band was outstanding, he played to the audience really well, and I managed to score great seats for the show.

Other good ones include Aerosmith in the summer of 1994, U2 on their Popmart Tour (I've heard that their other tours were better, but that was the only time I've ever seen them), and the Rolling Stones in late '97 or early '98. Rock on!

Miami1839 05-23-2001 09:30 PM

-Billy Joel, it was at the USAIR Arena I think. I remember seeing Chelsea Clinton a few rows down. It was awesome how everyone held hands at the last song, Pianoman.

-StoneTemplePilots- At George Mason Patriot Center. That was an awesome concert. They had this great opening where they lowered this couch in the beginning.

-Beastie Boys- At George Mason Patriot Center. Another Awesome Concert. I had a great time.

-Nine Inch Nails and David Bowie at the Nissan Pavillion. It was ok. I love NIN but I could care less for David Bowie. It was a pretty good time.

Siobhan 05-24-2001 12:34 AM

1) U2 (and they're apparently coming back - I can't wait)

I also heard the recent ACDC concert was really awesome (better than Elevation apparently) http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

RedHotChiO 05-24-2001 05:44 PM

U2 Popmart Tour. They put on amazing show. I would love to see them again.

AlphaXiGirl 05-25-2001 11:39 AM

I can't just choose one.... (sorry)

The absolutely most fun concerns I have been to are the three BNL (bare naked ladies) concerts.... those guys kill me every time.

Another fun one was, now I am showing my age, the Stray Cats. The concert was just a few years ago and the band was playing a really small community Fourth of July event... it's sad when bands are reduced to that... but my friends and I had a great time singing and dancing to songs from our childhood.

And for all of the Billy Joel fans out there - another great one was the Billy Joel and Elton John show. I'm not a big Elton John fan but seeing two music legends like that play some of the greatest songs ever... ahhhhh, it was moving.

The one band that I've seen more than any others is one of the least popular but a show that I would NEVER miss... Big Head Todd and the Monsters.

Lastly, I'm always a sucker for a little "Pirate Looks at 40" by my friend, Jimmy Buffett.

SilverTurtle 05-26-2001 12:10 AM

I, too, have seen many many great shows. Favorites would be (in no particular order):
  • Horde Fest 1997 (this was the 1st time I saw BNL)
  • BNL (I've seen them 2 times since and am planning on going this summer)
  • George Clinton
  • Billy Joel
  • The Cure

I've been dying to see DMB, but they won't be anywhere near me this summer, unless the extend their tour. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif

I had to edit this because I finally got to see Dave & the boys!! Definately on the top of my list, now... tied with BNL (who've I've now seen a total of 5 times!). Also, I saw George Clinton for a second time, and it was possibly the worst show I've ever seen. He did too much of some drug beforehand. Man, it was bad.

Incubus' Morning View concert in Worcester MA

phimugirlie01 08-11-2002 10:28 AM

O.A.R. at the tower city ampitheatre here in Cleveland was amazing! Plus Red Wanting Blue played along with Ordinary Peoples and Graham Colton. I would have to say that that was the funnest concert I've ever been to!

I also saw John Mayer while I was at school- at the Music Farm in Charleston, SC. It was right before he started to get big, back in Feb. He's amazing live- I would reccomend going to one of his concerts.

TaraHopeful 08-11-2002 01:27 PM

I would have to say the Buzz Bakesale in 1999. 103.1 "The Buzz" threw an awesome concert with a lot of alternative bands like mxpx, jimmys chicken shack, green day and a buncha other bands that i forgot. I would love to see Jimmy Buffet in concert though, i love him and have heard he's awesome in concert!

DWAlphaGam 08-11-2002 01:33 PM

Each of the 5 times I've seen Barenaked Ladies has been the best concert I've ever seen! :D
I also loved Incubus (saw them twice this year!) and Stone Temple Pilots. Offspring also kicked @ss.
