New shows that aren't worth your time

-Journeyman: didn't make it past the 10 minute mark.

-Reaper: parts were funny, but others were sick (i.e. the Zamboni running over the guy and then there being blood all over the ice rink). Just can't imagine watching a show about the devil week after week either.

I would really like to know if anyone watched Cane last night. I really wanted to see it, but SVU comes first!

DSTRen13 09-26-2007 09:49 AM

I watched Cane, but I don't know if I will again. There was a lot going on in one hour, and I'm not sure it's worth the effort to keep up with.

I watched it last night. The first thing that I noticed was that of all the actors who are portraying Cubans... only one of them is Cuban! You have various members of Latino entertainment royalty like Rita Moreno and Hector Elizondo. I liked how the characters went between English and Spanish, because that is very much how we speak to each other when we are with family or other familiar circles. It is a little reminiscent of the premise behind Dallas ... two brothers fighting over control of the family business. There are some shady-ish things happening in the background that I don't fully understand yet. So, we'll see. I hope this helps.

I watched the whole thing. I should have turned it off after ten minutes.

PeppyGPhiB 09-26-2007 01:29 PM

Kid Nation. THAT is what they cancelled Jericho for?

Tim Gunn's Guide to Style- I wanted to like it but it's soooo boring and overproduced.

I liked the first one. I've not watched it since then though. I don't like most makeover show though. Really all I need to see is the last 5-10 minutes when they show the before shot and then the reveal. :p

I thought Cane was awesome! I can't wait until next week. :D

ms_gwyn 09-26-2007 10:54 PM

I liked journeyman...it was ok.

What I would like to know is: 1) How did younger brother steal older brother's chick....and the brothers are still talking....2) younger brother's fiancee is stuck between time? huh, what is that all about.

Not sure if it will make it to the weekly viewing....but interesting

Jimmy Choo 09-26-2007 11:08 PM

Just watched "Life" on NBC. Won't ever watch it again......

DeltAlum 09-26-2007 11:14 PM

Anything that has the word "reality" as part of the description.

BGKdLady 09-27-2007 07:16 AM

Journeyman was hard to get in to, but it was worth it at the end. It was a bit confusing at first. It ended up being a good show that I will try to watch again.

Did anyone watch kid nation?

Thoughts?

I call it baby survivor

Let's see...if a kid had a gold star worth 20,000...if there really wasn't any adults around...how much time would it have taken before some of those kids jumped him for it....LOL

I had to watch it with the kids I babysat last week and needless to say I watched it by myself last night. It's definitely not the best show out there, but it's cute and decent to watch. I can't believe they killed the chickens. I mean it was probably the right thing to do, but wow.

I definitely agree with the "baby survivor" comment though. If I were in middle school I'd SO want to be on this show, because there's not anything else out there like it for that age group.

I was tired and fell asleep during Life ... so I didn't miss anything?

That was the other thing...what about kids that have problems with killing another creature? I am sure that they have counselors on hand to see how they feel...

PeppyGPhiB 09-27-2007 03:04 PM

As I already said in this thread, I watched Kid Nation...the first episode anyway. It was boring, and there was too much of an adult presence for a show that is supposed to be kids only. To me it felt like they were being babysat. Plus, kids in real life don't talk like most of those kids do, so it makes me think they were either coached or the kids are actors.

Anyway, the first episode didn't draw me in enough to make me want to watch the following weeks.

Not in my opinion you didn't. If you ever watched the show "Boomtown" that NBC had a few years ago it reminds me of that.

Dirty Sexy Money was a big disappointment. The only highlight was the trannie who got into bed with the Baldwin.

I want my 60 minutes back, ABC.

VandalSquirrel 09-27-2007 10:03 PM

Baby Borrowers

NBC has made a show titled "Baby Borrowers" which starts midseason.

It sounds really disturbing, and they lose points for filming it in my state.

I think the idea behind this is interesting, but not in practice. There are reasons why they can't perform some experiments in psychology, because it goes against the code of the ethics... This seems to walk that fine line.

I saw the first show and thought the same thing... so I end up on CBS checking out the profiles of the kids... yeah most of them appear to be in the business or are trying to be.

I believe this is based off of a British reality show.

I was suprised that the one girl stayed cuz she had said earlier that she would leave if they killed the chickens. But then when she was explaining why she changed her mind, she said "When my mom told me to come here, she said to be a rough-and-tough cowgirl, so I’m going to stay." I found that rather disturbing.

I actually kinda liked Life. But I could totally see it being another one of those shows that I like but no one else does, so it ends up getting cancelled...like Raines, Related, Twins, and The Class. :(

DSTRen13 09-28-2007 08:06 AM

I liked Big Shots alright last night. I think I'll watch it again.

Yea, it was terrible.
Turns out it wasn't even the show I wanted to watch- which was Big Shots. I like that much better.

I was hoping it would be like Dead Like Me. I was sadly disapointed.

thesweetestone 09-30-2007 12:03 AM

Chuck was a little better than I thought that it would be, but I still can't see myself turning in regularly.

I kinda like Dirty, Sexy, Money more than I thought that I would and I really liked Big Shots.

SVU was really good!

I missed the Bionic Woman this week. Dang them for going toe to toe with Private Practice.:(

LeslieAGD 09-30-2007 06:43 AM

I thought Dirty Sexy Money was hilarious. My husband and I watched it and we were cracking up most of the show.

I thought Big Shots was a big disappointment, though! I will give it one more episode, but I am definately not hooked.

I wouldn't say I thought it was a big disappointment, yet I wasn't that impressed. I'll give it one more episode and see what I think then (of course, this is coming from the person taping it because it's on too late on a school night! ;))

There has been a lot of internet buzz lately about a straight to DVD Movie release of “Dead Like Me.” Hopefully if it sells well enough they will renew the series.

Here's a good link if you want to read up on it.

Alpha Sig Scott 10-02-2007 04:17 PM

Caveman

I predict it will be canceled 15 minutes into the premier episode and the person responsible for green lighting it beaten with a club.

CrimsonTide4 10-02-2007 05:20 PM

Aliens in America ~ didn't focus on it but the TV was on that channel since it comes on after Everybody Hates Chris.
