R U READY? Tomorrow starts the "big event" at Ole Miss! I am going to share my daughter's and her friends rush (I'm old) stories as best I can
on GC. So far it has been a wonderful experience as Ole Miss's Panhellenic
Council is extremely organized. My daughter's Gamma Chi has been WONDERFUL!:)

Wednesday, 9/26 Philanthropy Round 1
Thursday, 9/27 Philanthropy Round 2
Friday, 9/28 Skit Round (6 maximum invites back)
Saturday, 9/29 Preference Round (3 maximum)
Sunday, 9/30 Bid Day

I have decided to use Actresses Names for the Houses:

1. Sandra Bullock
2. Reese Witherspoon
3. Jennifer Aniston
4. Cameron Diaz
5. Renee Zellweger
6. Julia Roberts
7. Kate Hudson
8. Nicole Kidman
9. Rachel McAdams

After she calls me tomorrow evening I will let you know how Round 1 went for everyone and what they think about the different houses.:rolleyes:

I'm going to root for Nicole, Renee and Reese. Probably because I love Moulin Rouge, Chicago, and Cruel Intentions and Legally Blonde. All the leading ladies are fabulous and it sounds like it accurately reflects the Panhellenic community at Ole Miss.

To bad you didn't list Jennifer Garner. She could have been Pi Phi

Some customer at my job said I looked like Sandra Bullock. That's a first- but I'll root for her. As well as for Reese Witherspoon, since I liked "Legally Blonde" a lot.

I'm all for Reese and a great rush at Ole Miss!

i don't know who to root for because i can't figure out which actress represents which house. but i have good friends in ALL of the sororitys so no girl can go wrong!!

Philanthropy Round 1
 

Good Morning! My daughter's group did "6" houses during Round 1! They
started at 4:00pm and didn't finish till around 11:00pm last night...they
were hunger and exhausted, but really excited about their first day. They
all were up into the wee hours studying for tests they had today. Here
is the list of houses they visited on Wednesday:

1. Reese Witherspoon - She loves this group of girls! Really enjoyed
herself and could see herself with this group of delightful, funny, and
charming girls! She knew the girl taking her thru the house and was
introduced to just about everyone in the house. She thought the
house was simply gorgeous!

2. Renee Zellweger - She also loves this group of girls! The girl
taking her thru the house was from the same state and they
had mutual friends and yet they had never met before. Felt
she clicked with the girls in this house and she met tons of
the girls.

3. Julia Roberts - Loves this group of girls! She had a blast at this
house and knew the girl taking her thru the house so that made
it that more fun! She thinks this house would also be a good fit!
Everyone was friendly, funny and really seemed glad to meet her.

4. Nicole Kidman - Very nice girls, but was not feeling the love!
Has legacy ties to this house, but didn't think she would fit in
with this group.

5. Sandra Bullock - Very nice group of girls! Knew the girl taking
her thru the house and knew a lot of the girls in this house! The
house was very lovely and everyone was really nice to her.

6. Cameron Diaz - Interesting group of girls, very nice to her and
the girl taking her thru the house was extremely nice to her, but
she really doesn't know that many girls in this house and wasn't
sure this was a fit for her!

All her friends in this group felt just about the same way regarding
the above houses, except for Cameron Diaz 2 of the girls loved
this house the best, but knew a lot of the girls in this house from
high school! My daughter felt it would be extremely difficult to
get invited back to some of the houses if you really didn't know
anyone in that house...it really helped to already have friends in
the sorority who knew you and would pull for you!!!

My daughter's friends either did 5 or 6 houses yesterday and will
do Round 2 of Philandthropy tonight! I believe they find out late
tonight where they are going back for Skit Night.

I'm confused (but then I"m not from the South). Where are the other 3 houses?

I think the 1st "round" was split into 2 days. The other 3 houses should be today. Is that right? (I'm not from the South either!)

Also...Violet, do you mean that those names really have some significance relating to the sorority? I thought they were random.

Yes, part two of this round will continue this evening.

They are random, but what she means is if you figure out from the posts "hey! Nicole Kidman is Theta Phi Alpha!" you shouldn't "out" that info to the rest of the board. :)

My D is also going thru rush at Ole Miss. She is a legacy (myself and my sister) but I've told her to go with the group she feels the most comfortable with.

She called last night after the first round of parties and said "She loved it!" Felt right at home with many of the groups. Only one of the parties did she say she didn't feel connected with anyone. She is looking forward to tonight! Also had a big math test today so hoping that she was able to study after last night's excitement.

I have been so impressed with how organized Ole Miss has been with their rush. I know whatever group she goes with, she will find a home.

Big schools HAVE to be organized, LOL. OleMissMama, what org are you from if you don't mind my asking? Good luck to your daughter (in R and her math test!)

People...the names are random! I just used the names of the movie
stars for code names so I could be honest about her feelings. Don't
go reading more into the description as you may very well be going
in the wrong direction!!!! Let's keep this fun and a way to enjoy another recruitment story! This momma did not attend Ole Miss so I
have no prior knowledge about the different sororities...we are
swimming in the unknown!:)

My D is also going thru recruitment at Ole Miss and she was
so excited on the phone last night...I think the girls on her
floor were bouncing off the walls!;)

I'm glad that everyone's having a good time! I'm so tired from last night, but I can't wait for tonight!

My daughter went through rush at UGA this year. Was a great experience and she felt very blessed and lucky to have been given a bid to her first choice. She did not pledge her legacy. I also told her to go with her heart. I think all the moms with D's going through rush at Ole Miss have given their D's the best advice. My hat's off to you!!!!

Congrats to your daughter. Who is lucky enough to have her as a pledge?

My vote is for Reese. Obviously.
