Favorite Song...

Hey everybody I was just wondering what everyone's favorite song/s is/are....

Mine favorite new song is:

Moby with Gwen Stefani "Southside" An awesome song and an even better video, Gwen has never looked better.

My over all favorite:

The Dave Matthews Band "#41" Could it ever get any better than this...?

bucutie02 01-07-2001 02:09 PM

I have too many to name, but my favorite right now is Lenny Cravitz "Again". i LOVE this song!!
Other favorites are ...
Red Hot Chilli Peppers "Higher Ground"
Destiny's Child "Independent Women Part 1"
Martina McBride "Broken Wing"
Marvin Gaye/Tammi Terrell "Aint no mountain high enough"- ever since StepMom, i have LOVED this song!!!!

Anyway, there are many more but those are a few. I love everything from country to SOME rap- like for example- i can handle some eminem and nelly but i dont like the hard core rap! sorry, just my taste http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

"He is not perfect, you are not perfect. The question is whether or not you are perfect for each other"

Unregistered- 01-07-2001 03:44 PM

Though I can't narrow em down to just one, these are playing in rotation in my car right now:

I'm alright-JoDee Messina (my THEME song)
Bathwater-No Doubt
Cowboy Take Me Away-Dixie Chicks
You Can't Hurry Love-Dixie Chicks
If You're Gone-Matchbox 20
On My Knees-Jaci Velasquez
and the entire DUETS soundtrack (especially Copacabana)

One final note: I love my Napster and my CD burner!

------------------
*I'm an Alpha Gam...Yes I am, Yes I am!*

SigTauJake 01-07-2001 05:23 PM

Speaking of Napster and CD burners....we make a new cd for each mixer every week. If it has a theme or something, say "Keg Races" we have Speed Racer songs on there, and little clips like "Start Your Engines" All the girls love it when they see we took the time to plan out the night that much, and it just makes the whole night even better. Usually one of them ends up taking it home with them....

Aurora 01-07-2001 05:41 PM

Right now my three favorite songs are:
"Here With Me" by Dido
"Tonight, & the Rest of My Life" by Nina Gordon
"Porcelain" by Moby

Yes, sappy, I know. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

33girl 01-07-2001 08:43 PM

Fave new song: "Come On Over Baby" by Christina Aguilera. Yes, I'm a cheesball, but hoping to be redeemed by my

Fave all-time song: "What's Goin' On" by Marvin Gaye. Every radio station on earth should be required by international law to play this song at least once a day.

juniorgrrl 01-08-2001 12:59 AM

Well, since 33girl confessed liking a Christina song (btw, I love that one too), I guess I'll finally stand up and admit it - I like Britney Spears. Maybe its just because she's a local girl, maybe its because her music is fun...I don't know...

My other favorite artists (its too hard for me to pick actual songs!) are:
Jimmy Buffett
James Taylor
Jackson Browne
Cowboy Mouth

Alumnus who cares 01-08-2001 10:41 AM

Here are some of my current favorite songs:

"Otherside" by Red Hot Chili Peppers
"If I Had $1,000,000" by Barenaked Ladies (this is not exactly new, but I wasn't made aware of it until last year)
"In My Hands" by Fuel
"Kryptonite" by 3 Doors Down (the radio station I listen to plays this 5 times a day, but I still haven't gotten tired of it)
"Babylon" by David Gray
"Rain King" by Counting Crows (another kind of old one)

KarenC725 01-08-2001 12:42 PM

Ok, I'm a little classic:

In Your Eyes
Have a Little Faith in Me
Fool in the Rain
Little Red Corvette
Could Not Ask for More

And my cheeseball new song: Faded by Soul Decision

lifesaver 01-08-2001 03:33 PM

where to start...

Dreams by Fleetwood Mac (If my life made a sound, that would be it)

Linger by the Cranberries

A Long December by Counting Crows (Awesome Video)

like bucutie, I can listen to anything.
Anything off of pearl Jam's Ten

prospectiverushee 01-08-2001 03:34 PM

kmullini 01-17-2001 01:58 AM

Some old favorites of mine. I really am eclectic in my music taste. I like almost anything. I'd say I'm not crazy about rap and some country. But it all depends.

-Some songs from Alanis Morresette(I know I spelled her name wrong). I like her mainly because a few of her songs were big when my Beta Brother died back in 97.
-Erasure. One of my brothers is French and he got me into them. I havent listened to them for awhile but I like some of their songs.
Sublime-One of their songs. It could be "right back"
Dave Mathews for sure. Their from my home state in Charlottesville, Virginia.
U2
NIN-saw them once in concert.
Rage against the machine
cranberries
counting crows
goo goo dolls
sheryl crow
jewel
janes addictions
Pearl Jam
Stone Temple Pilots
Beastie Boys
Bob Marley
George Clinton
One song by white zombie. Its a 70s remix.
Matchbox 20
Some of the songs by Backstreet Boys
Some of the songs by Boys 2 Men
I like eighties music too and theres one singer that I think has a cool voice. Thats Barry White. His songs definitely set a good mood. I enjoyed watching him once on the Today Show on NBC.

Jill Scott's whole CD is bangin'! That CD can really mellow me out, especially when I'm driving in traffic!!!

My favorite song of all time is "I'd Die Without You" by PM Dawn.

I'm also feeling Ja Rule's new Song, I think it's called "Without You" or something like that....

SHSUChiO 01-23-2001 12:16 PM

Hmm... a hard one...

"Cathy's Clown" by Reba McEntire
"Hemmorage" by Fuel
"Bring it all to me" by Blaque & NSync
"When You Need my Love" by Keith Whirly
"Same Old Sh*^" by DMX

KSIGTAZ 01-23-2001 03:19 PM

Ok first of all let me clarify I have a two year little boy who is my whole world. If you have a son or daughter the song by John Lennon on the album Double Fantasy "Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful Boy". The song is a lullaby to his son Sean and it definitly hits home. Even if your not a parent check it out it is an incredibly emotional song. I also like anything by Buffett.

shadokat 01-23-2001 08:26 PM

Wow, favorite song...

Well, my pledge class song, "These Are Days" by 10,000 Maniacs

Favorite song now: All the cheese you want with N'Sync and Britney and Destiny's Child

The two CD's I still haven't gotten sick of: 3 Doors Down and Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine...now that stuff rocks.

33girl, if you think you're a cheeseball, I took my mom to see Barry Manilow for Mother's Day this year, and I may have been more excited than she was http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

vanda 01-23-2001 08:29 PM

I love Metallica's "One", Fiona Apple's "Fast as you can", And an old song "Wildfire" by Michael Martin Murphey. Lately I find myself loving Marc Anthony's " You Sang to Me".

Alumnus who cares 01-25-2001 11:58 AM

Vanda is correct:

One = Best Metallica song ever.

lifesaver 01-25-2001 02:40 PM

I gotta add a couple more.

Under the Milky Way by The Church
Forever Young by Alphaville
She sells sanctuary by the Cult
How soon is now by the Smiths
Come together by The Beloved (I don't know what it is about that song, but the beat and harmony has an underlying sexual tone that is very mooving)
I belong to you by Lenny kravitz (I am so gonna have wild passionate sex to that song as soon as I can find someone to do it with)

So I have completely dated myself by my songs huh? I know all the college freshman here are like, "what? Who's all those people? I never heard of Alphawho?" But those are the songs that Move me. I don't know why, but they get inside of me. I cant explain it. Oh well. i need to go find my Cd's now......

Good to see this topic resurfacing, because there are some new songs that I like:

"Distance" by Cake--is this even new? I'm not really familiar with the band, but they've been playing the song often on the radio lately.

"Walk On" by U2--another great single from the new album...by the way, "Beautiful Day" still rocks as well.

"Too Little Too Late" by Barenaked Ladies--these guys just keep cranking out the catchy songs.

"Cool as I am" Dar Williams
"Bitter" Chante Moore
"Lonely" Brian McKnight
"He Loves Me" Jill Scott
