Not a badge, but not sure this Mother's Pin is from 1930 as advertised either... |
Mother's Pin
I think I am going to bid for that Mother's Pin. My mom had lost hers a few years ago when she wore it to church one week. :( She was super sad. I think I might try to win her a new one for Christmas!!
|
I was thinking the same thing, lol. You claimed it first though, so go for it!
|
Oooh, how cool. Y'all let me know if you're not going to bid on it, I would love to!
|
I'm on it!!!
Ok guys!! Wish me luck!! **Fingers crossed**

Crest Necklace
My ebay ID is phenomenalbrandi. That crest necklace is super nice! I already have one crest charm from years ago, so go for it!! Good luck!!!!
|
Ohhh.... sorry! Who is rlr5 then I wonder....??? They're bidding on the pin AND the necklace! :(
|
Hey!
Did you win the crest necklace?!?!
|
Yay!
I WON!! I WON!! Yay!! :D:D
|
I didn't win the neckalce cuz I didn't want to pay too much for it - if anyone knows of a site where I can buy that disc shaped necklace with the crest on it (I've only seen one with letters instead of the crest) or even double-sided, crest on one side and letters on the other would be REALLY cool.
What did you win??? |
Mom's Pin
I won the Mom's pin!
Check www.alphagold.com, they have a ton of Greek jewelry, you might find your necklace there! Good luck!! ZLAM! |
anyone know where I can get a Mother's Pin?
My mom lost the pin for her sorority and has alluded that she would like ne at some point. |
Alphagold, good call. They have the exact necklace I want! Thank you!!!
|
Mom's Pin
Check with IO. I think you can order a new one from there. I remember as a collegiate there was a form that we filled out for them, but it has been years.....
ZLAM! |
childofthehorn, the secretary of your chapter should have a form in her notebook that is a list of the items that a member can order from i.o. the mother's pin in among those items.

Another Mom's Pin on Ebay
Here is the link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-ZTA-Zeta...QQcmdZViewItem I know my mom loved hers for Christmas!! ZLAM |
|
I think what we should do is make an addition onto the Themis magazine where sisters wanting to sell items related to ZTA can do that, so that they stay within the sorority. I know my mom is a member of the P.E.O. sisterhood and they have a section in their magazine for that.
|
that's a great idea, but lets take it one step further and hope that they would add this to the website-the sisters only section.

This Seller admits that she's selling her own badge on Ebay!!!!

I had the 2nd highest bid the last time she listed but she didn't offer it to me when the top bidder didn't pay.
I did just snag a silver badge with pearls & 6 amethysts on the points. I love amethyst so I am super excited about that. I am almost embarrassed to admit how many badges I have now but only 2 have come from I/O. The rest are Ebay or antique store buys. |

That amethyst badge sounds beautiful!!! I rescued a gold badge with pearls off Ebay while I was still a collegiate but I would love to get a white gold one with emeralds and pearls.... Thanks radio, I now feel a lot better about my 3 badges ;) I guess when you die, you can be buried with your favorite and give the rest to IO?! |
Yes, it was the same one. Grr.
I/O just turns around and re-sells them so I doubt if I would ever send them there. I've heard a rumor that TLC's purchase most often because they lose them during their travels. ;) I have a handwritten note tucked in a corner of my Zeta curio cabinet that asks for all my Zeta things/badges be given to my daughter to be kept for herself or distributed "TO OTHER ZETA SISTERS". This is very similar to what was written in the ZTA history book about badge distribution options after death...retuned to I/O, buried with the member, given to another sister in good standing OR kept by a family member "who will cherish it". My daughter already has her eye on a gold one that has sapphires all around with diamonds on the points. The Omega (SMU) guard with it is also sapphires. It dates from 1944. Hopefully she will be able to wear it one day. |
There are some badges that definately look better in the catalougue.
I had friends get the white gold with tradiotional blue or pink sapphires around it and they said it looked like someone took a sharpie marker to the edge of their badge. I even had a friend get the white gold with the alternating diamonds/sapphires and wished she had gotten something more similar to mine. Another girl got the all diamond in white gold and it just looks like the silver badge from a distance. A lot of people have said that these combos seem to look the best: - rubies/emeralds with diamond points in yellow gold - alternating diamonds with rubies/emralds/sapphires in yellow gold - crown pearl in yellow gold - pearl with rubies/emeralds in points *yellow gold* - *any gem (not pearl)* with diamond points in white gold Personally, I have the 10K Emeralds with Diamond Points badge. It looks fantastic and I always get compliments on it. |
I've got the yellow gold with pink sapphires... it's beautiful!
|
There is currently a pledge pin and a badge up on Ebay. The pledge pin appears to have a Zeta high bidder (this person also purshed a ZTA sweatshirt) but the badge is definitely being bid on by a collector judging from their bidding history (all greek items, not one specific org). Please help, it's over $60 so I can't afford it now! It's gold with all rubies and appears to be from 1941!
|
Ok, so I'm bidding on a pledge pin and if I win it, I kinda wanna keep it - is that wrong? Or should I send it to IO? Also there were two badges on ebay yesterday, one with all sapphires and one with all rubies - pretty sure a Zeta was bidding on one of them...
|
I have "rescued" a couple of pledge pins off of Ebay. I gave one to a new member who lost hers and still have the other.
I don't know who bought the sapphire & ruby badges. They are being sold by a Zeta who is a former I/O employee so I am not comfortable bidding on items listed by her. I'm going to Texas Zeta Days tomorrow and half the fun of figuring out what to wear is choosing a badge that will look pretty with my outfit. ;) |

I'm so jealous you get to "pick a matching badge" to go with your outfit! I've got a plain silver one and a gold one with pearls that I rescued off Ebay (and bought a chapter guard for) so I can match jewelry but I would love to get a turquoise and pearls in silver and/or an emerald and alternating pearl in silver badge. I keep searching ebay so at least it'll end up being a rescued badge... I'm so glad we're allowed to get blinged out badges! :D |
Ok, so I found out it is a Zeta bidding on the Ruby badge so at least there's that :) Not sure who won the sapphire badge as the auction ended last night. Hopefully I get the pledge pin...
|
I won the pledge pin! :D
And now there's more badges on Ebay. The fight never ends.... |

The process for making badges today is a bit different than it was many years ago which HAS slightly changed the look of them. Opinions as to whether this is a good or bad thing (or somewhere in-between) are entirely subjective.
The meaning of our little badge, and hopefully its preciousness to our members new and *old*, is still the same. :) |

Oh! I get it now. I thought she was jumping COTH's case so I was trying to defuse. My bad.

I WAS trying to show her that insulting badges is not cool. There is no need to defuse the situation. A simple lesson on respecting others' choices of badges is nothing I consider to be inappropriate, though. And, if her sisters are not willing to teach her those values which bind us, who else will? A simple correction here and there is what makes us all stronger. I have been corrected in the past and it makes me a better sister. I feel it my responsibility to do the same for others. Tact is not a gift with which I have been blessed. We all know this. Honesty, I can do. |
