Secret Vices
I know we had a thread on this somewhere but after searching awhile, I gave up.
What's your secret vice (besides GC?) Mine: I so love Barnes and Noble. I might as well start renting a room in the back.:) |
I'm a sucker for ANY bookstore, especially Barnes & Noble and Borders.
But my other secret vice is any bar/restaurant that has the NTN game. |
a good plant nursery is my vice.
|
Not a secret, nor really a vice since it does not get me into debt or trouble.
But silk is my guilty pleasure. I love silk sweaters and will splurge on them. Otherwise I am very much the greenie animal lover vegetarian. But when it comes to silk, this would be my one guilty pleasure. |
I LOVE office supply stores and have a huge assortment of notebooks (that I don't need) and tons of pens. I love the feel of a "good" pen and have hundreds (that I don't need, but my college kids love stealing them). The odd thing is, I only write in purple ink. My first pen in 3rd grade was a fountain pen which had little cartridges of ink that you inserted. I was actually sad when ball points replaced fountain pens. I love the way wet ink lays on the paper.
|
Disney World. I am a nut for Disney World. Went in Jan and Feb - going again in a month, a Disney cruise for Thanksgiving, and then first week in December. I would sell a kidney before giving up my Disney Vacation Club.
|
Like Armywife'79 I LOVE office supplies. I love binders, pens, paper, dividers, everything. I could wander around officemax or staples for hours. I've always been that way.
Maybe because I'm unorganized and messy almost all of the time? My room and car are always a mess... lol:p My friends are probably my other vice, going out, etc. I always spend way too much money when it comes to my friends, not that I lend them money, but I always want to buy them things, treat them, etc. :o |
Starbucks coffee...especially Java chip...
|
I looooooooooove new nail polish colors :)
I also really like B&N. I was there yesterday for THREE HOURS just wondering around and looking at different kinds of books. |
gander mountain. i'm a city girl and have no desire to be outdoors or do any of that stuff, but i could stay in there for hours.
|
I also have a weakness for office supplies (thought I was the only one! ;)) and $4 coffee (mochas), my other secret-est vice is Dollar Tree stores. Love 'em! :)
|
Mine is cookie dough, or anything cookie-dough related (i.e. cookie dough ice cream, cookie dough bites candy), but I try not to indulge in this too often! ;)
I also have a problem with Target. Anytime I go in there, I come out with at least $80 spent. :o |
Like Army Wife, ANY AND ALL office supplies, I will stay in that store forever!!!
I also like The Dolla Stow... $0.99 cent stores, Family Dollar, Dollar General, Big Lots, and any swap meet. |
sushi. i spend waaaaay too much money that i don't have on sushi. so tasty though.
|
barnes and noble, starbucks, Home depot
|
eBay. And other forms of shopping online.
And purses. |
There is something "comforting" about Barnes & Noble I must admit. I read a lot, and so maybe that is why I like the place. Anytime I dream up some new scheme or discover some new hobby- I will always go there to check out the book selection even though what I need is probably on Amazon instead.
Half Price Books is great too and one of the few local treasure troves left in the age of Amazon, eBay and Abebooks. Not sure if that is a national thing or just Texas- but they sell surplus new books at half price and they sell used books incredibly cheap. Just yesterday I was in one here in Austin and I found a gigantic vintage 1960s book on Rembrandt with over 730 pictures of his work- 80 of them color plates. $30! |
Sleeping in my contacts.
Going through yellow lights on occasion. Eating too much greasy foods. Leaving carts in the parking lot. Lying in church. Lying on my resume. Accidently cursing in front of kids. Sticking gum under tables/chairs. |
um. i would like to add to my previous entry.
however, these are not secret things really... smoking drinking eating laying around oh. and barnes and nobles. :D |
amazon.com (Books, CDs-especially Karaoke CDs)
DD Iced Coffee and bagels Purple sweaters...I see a cute one on the rack, and I have to have it. Nevermind that I have about 15 at home, this one is a different shade, or has a different neckline, or is softer...I'll find any excuse. Ditto on whoever said sushi Shoes. If they're my size and on clearance, I'll buy them. I end up wearing them once or twice and then giving them away. Unless they're very comfortable. |

Ditto on Disney. I'm seriously going through withdrawls because I haven't been in 3 weeks. We don't belong to the Vacation Club yet though... :( I'm serioulsy working on hubby about that! :p ) I'm particularly addicted to Typhoon Lagoon. I'm also love to shop online, and I have a secret soap opera addiction *LOL*. Ok so it's not that secret..... ;) |
My weaknesses are:
red clothing of any kind stationary & greeting cards organizational tools travel and of course, anything with fleur de lis! |

Goodwill---I must visit every single one in every town I set foot in.
ReStore---Goodwill's furniture counterpart. I love it and browse almost every weekend fantasizing about what I could rehome once I no longer have a roommate. BigLots, Ross, TjMaxx---any discount/cheap store....yeah I am a sucker for thrifting. It satisfies my need to shope without putting a huge dent in my wallet. And, it makes me happy |
Loehmann's. I shop there waaaay too much.
