I would not have felt sorry for her if she was killed. Honestly. What an ass.

The local newspapers here say she's from Maui, but she attended Hawaii Preparatory Academy in Kamuela on the Big Island. HPA's the most expensive boarding school in the state, and they're known for breeding eccentrics. |

I gotta hold her parents slightly responsible for this one...
Star Simpson? Really? Poor thing - bless her heart. But yeah, fake bomb = bad idea. Especially if your name is Star. |
"traveling the world and saving the planet from evil villains with my delivered-just-in-time gadgets."
Hmmmm...does this sound like a TV show to you...hehe I will not call her Hiro |
There's obviously a difference between being intelligent enough to go to MIT and being smart.
Stupid move on her part. Did she think she is smart enough to "beat" the security system? That could have been "terminal" dumb -with no pun intended. |
At MIT, we used the acronym SPAMIT - Stupid People At MIT. There used to be a group that sold t-shirts with the acronym and a doctored version of the MIT seal - one of the men on the seal is wearing fuzzy bunny slippers, for example.
If anyone deserves the label SPAMIT, it's this chick. Apparently, when the police approached her, she did exactly what they told her to do - and if she hadn't, they could have used deadly force. |
Cut me a break. It was a circuit board. Open up any computer, your walkman, your tv...anything and there's a circuitboard inside. That's not a bomb. It looks nothing like a bomb. In fact, why don't you list the number of instances where someone wore an object that looked nothing like a bomb on a shirt and walked around an airport? Oh wait, that's never/rarely happened and hence lends nothing to precedence?
She should have been shot for that? That's the appropriate thing to do? Why not also shoot every person that's not carrying a bible and a Republican membership card in their hand? Are you people that stupid? Wow. -Rudey |
Quote:
Maybe you are.....read the above posts again...no one said that she SHOULD BE shot....what we DID say was she was LUCKY in that circumstance that she WASN'T shot. Then it was REFERENCED about the LAST TIME post 911 someone who said he DID HAVE a bomb who WAS SHOT. If the passages above aren't clear, you are welcome to read my signature to yourself 100 times. |

Also, you uneducated boob, that's what YOU said. It's not a collective "We". One person said they would not be sorry if she was shot. Now shutup. -Rudey --Thanks for playing. |
Quote:
I tell you what....do us all a favor...since you are hell bent to prove us wrong...why do you go to the nearest airport and attempt the exact same stunt that she did....when done....please come back here and post your observations. |

They may be stupid, too, but they're the ones who count in this case. |

How is a circuit board going to blow up a plane? What would the FAA report say? "We briefly detained a young woman with a circuit board strapped to her body, further investigation revealed it was her odd idea of a fashion statement." |
Quote:
You are about as dense as Rudey is if you don't get what happened. How dare you even think you are above all if you think you are so intelligent that you can call yourself 'correcting' me. Still smarting from the verbal tonguelashing of last week is the reason why you still persist in trying to engage me.... DO one of three things if you think you are up to talking to me Step up, step forward, or step off |

1) She did not have a bomb or anything that resembled a bomb. It was electronics. Nothing resembled anything that might explode. So why not shoot anyone with an ipod? Oh wait they don't do that. 2) People have said they don't feel sorry for her being shot. You then say that you'd be OK with me being shot. Essentially the cops were wrong, had no excuse to be wrong and didn't apologize. You were wrong in your assumptions and then exposed the fact that you are a violent sub-human. -Rudey |

Where Angels Fear to Tread . . .
I would suspect that the airport security may simply have not known exactly what it was - and of course were going to err on the side of caution.
And the next question - if they knew what it was, wouldn't they wonder WHY someone was walking through an airport with a circuit board? Goodness knows there is plenty of publicity when airport security fails to catch a "fake" bomb plant. I can see why the woman in question would be detained, and why she should be offered no apology. Airport security has no sense of humor, FYI. |
Drolefille, they don't pay you enough.

I think it's dumb to try to carry something aboard an aircraft that makes the security people think it's a bomb. Clearly, this wasn't your standard laptop. |
Quote:
Were there explosives or what looked like explosives attached? No. If it was a bomb, what are the chances it would be uncovered without a casing as well? Basically it looked nothing like a bomb. Just like a laptop. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi..._time_bomb.jpg. That looks like a bomb. -Rudey |

whew....I am so relieved....that bomb explains all of every last bomb that has been detonated since the first bomb went off ever... ...my God can he get any dumber?..or is it more dumb...it's 12:30 am.... |
Rudey. You're an idiot.
|
I'd rather have security err on the side of caution than not look properly and get us all blown up. Just a personal opinion.
|
Did she intend for the circuit board to resemble a bomb? Did she intend to rankle security? If so, she ought to face serious consequences.
Security in this day and age is not something to be joked about or played with. It is a fact of life and a necessity. 6 years ago, about 3,000 people would tend to have agreed that airport security is not a worthy target for a prank. Whether she's an eccentric or not, she ought to be hit hard for this. |
