Soror DGs' Family Confirmation/Arrangements Finalized
GCers,
Soror Discogoddess used to frequent GC regularly years ago. Her sister is missing. From an email: My 28-year-old sister, Nailah O. Franklin, has been missing for more than 24 hours. She was last heard from via phone by a friend around 4p on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007. We know she is missing because she didn't show up for an important "ride around" meeting with her sales manager on Wednesday (she is a pharma sales rep for Eli Lilly, and her territory is based in Oak Park and the south side of Chicago). And, she has not returned phone calls, emails or text messages from an out-of-town guest she was expecting yesterday, nor has she communicated with any family or friends since Tuesday. We also know that she filed a police report last week alleging a young man whom she had dated made threatening phone calls recently. I filed a missing persons report with the Chicago Police Department, and have been in constant contact with the sargent (sp) who assigns detectives to these cases. I've been on the phone with the Chicago most of yesterday afternoon through today and plan to speak to the detective who will be assigned her case when he comes on his shift at 4:30p. The next step is to alert the media (one of Nailah's friends has already gotten WGCI FM to broadcast information about her disappearance) and to perhaps do some canvassing of her neighborhood (Univerity Village in the UIC area) tomorrow and Saturday. I will be sending around a flyer with her photo, height, weight and other details later, but wanted to let you know about this now. Please, please, please...if you know anything that might be helpful, let me know And of course, please pray that Nailah is safe and will be returned to her family and friends soon. I have a picture, from the email, but I am challenged in that area.... |
E-mail me the picture. I'd be happy to help by posting the link for you.

CBS) CHICAGO Police are sorting through leads and have some ideas in the search for 28-year-old Nailah Franklin, who apparently disappeared earlier this week, and they are asking for the public's help in finding her. She lives in the 1500 block of South Sangamon Street in University Village. As CBS 2 Chief Correspondent Jay Levine reports, friends and family say she is bright, beautiful and successful, living in a nice building in the trendy new neighborhood near the University of Illinois at Chicago. The last thing her family and friends expected was for her to just disappear. Two Chicago police detectives were at her condo building Thursday to check out the building's hi-tech surveillance system, with cameras in the lobby, at the elevators, and in the garage, where she parked her car. Franklin and her sisters were very close. She doted on her 1-year-old niece, Harper. She was a successful pharmaceutical representative, and loved going out with friends. But she had a problem, which she reported to police – phone messages from a man she once dated. "I heard it, I heard the message," said Franklin's friend Dana McClellan. She said the message contained the following: "Basically 'I could do harm to you. You haven't seen that side, of me but I do have a bad side and I could do harm to you.'" Her last contacts were three text messages Tuesday night, when she didn't answer her phone, claiming to be at dinner. Police have released a missing person flyer, saying she missed a crucial meeting with her boss Wednesday morning, which was out of character for her. When the company contacted her family, sister Leila Franklin Acox rushed to Nailah's apartment to search and immediately noticed two computers were missing. "The fact that she missed the meeting and the car's not there, the phone goes directly to voice mail and the voice mail's full are all signs that something bad happened to Nailah," Acox said. Franklin is 28 years old, 5-feet 2-inches, 115 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. Her car is a 2005 gray Chevy four-door Impala, license plate 1957855. "This is someone who just had everything to live for; she was at the top of her game professionally; she bought two condos on her own as a single woman; she dotes on her niece, my daughter; she's just a person who is very connected with the people she cares about," Acox said. "This is so out of character." If you have any information about the case, police ask that you call (312) 746-9259. |

They are covering the story on CNN this morning, so that's awesome!
|
I was just watching CNN and they said police have found her car in Indiana.
The car was located near a lagoon and they will be searching the lagoon today. |
This is awful. I am trying to stay positive.

Here is a news story to back up what I was saying earlier.
Save | E-mail | Print Sep 22, 2007 10:23 am US/Central Missing Woman's Car, Belongings Found Nailah Franklin Was Last Seen Tuesday; Foul Play Is Feared TOP STORY: CBS 2 Reporter To File Charges After Scuffle TOP STORY: Police: Special Ed. Teacher Roughed Up Students SLIDESHOW: Openly Gay Celebrities SLIDESHOW: Before They Were Stars (CBS) CHICAGO A car and other property belonging to a woman who has been missing for four days was found southeast of Chicago Saturday. Police News Affairs officers told CBS 2 Saturday morning that a car belonging to Nailah Franklin was found in Hammond, Ind. They could not provide an exact address. Earlier, Franklin's family members said her car had been seen near an Outback Steakhouse in the 2000 block of River Oaks Drive in Calumet City, with some of her belongings scattered. The reason for the discrepancy in addresses was not immediately learned, but Hammond and Calumet City border eaech other. Dive teams searched on Saturday searched a pond in the River Oaks Golf Course near Calumet City, but nothing was found. Franklin, 28, of the University Village neighborhood, was last heard from on Tuesday. Her family and friends, along with police, have been conducting a massive search and scrambling to get the word out. "We, of course, are waiting with bated breath, and hoping that something breaks soon," Franklin's sister, Lehia Franklin Acox. "The bottom line for us is that we want Nailah found safe, and alive and well, and returned to us." But there are worries that Franklin might have been the victim of foul play. "I believe she's alive, but I know she's not OK, meaning that this is not her choice to be missing, so she's going to need some support and some healing, and our whole family is going through this – we're really just devastated, everybody," Franklin Acox said. The family of the 28-year-old Eli Lilly pharmaceutical representative says she is always in constant contact, especially by text message. The last message she sent was that night, saying she was at dinner and would call later. No one has heard from her since. Police are talking with several people with whom Franklin has had relationships. Sources say one of them has a history of making threats to other women. A week before she vanished Franklin had filed a report with police about a man she had dated, claiming he was threatening her by phone. "She had already had contact with a detective of our agency, who was in constant contact with her giving her advice," said Sgt. Virginia Zic-Schlomas of the Harrison Area Special Victims Unit. Among the advice was to file a restraining order against the man. Franklin's friend Dana McClellan said the message contained the following: "Basically 'I could do harm to you. You haven't seen that side, of me but I do have a bad side and I could do harm to you.'" Franklin's sister went to the Harrison Area police headquarters Friday morning to talk to detectives about the case. She said detectives called her and asked her to come in. Police say they still have confidence Franklin will be found. "I'm still hoping there's a positive outcome in the results of all this," Zic-Schlomas said. Two computers are also missing from Franklin's home: a personal laptop and one she used for her work with Eli Lilly. Franklin is 5-feet 2-inches, 115 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. Eli Lilly is also involved in the investigation since one of their employees, and a company computer, is missing. "This is someone who just had everything to live for; she was at the top of her game professionally; she bought two condos on her own as a single woman; she dotes on her niece, my daughter; she's just a person who is very connected with the people she cares about," Franklin's sister said. "This is so out of character." If you have any information about the case, police ask that you call (312) 746-9259. |
:(:( I'm really praying that she is found alive and their family may have peace.
