Convention 2008

Hi, ladies.

Convention 2008 is going to be at the JW Marriott in Tuscon, Arizona. The website make the place look AMAZING! I haven't been to a convention since 1997, but the spa alone makes me want to go to this convention. Anyone else?

I am planning on going. My husband always raves about Arizona, so he is flying out to meet me at the end of convention.

Should be awesome!!

radioZTA 09-27-2007 12:27 AM

I'll be there! Convention is great fun!

As a bonus, Tucson is part of my sales territory for my new job so I'll probably stay an extra day to do some business.

PenguinTrax 10-02-2007 10:05 PM

Probably not this year - I have a week-long event to attend in February and a family wedding in April. That will effectively kill my travel budget for the year. Wish I could go, Tuscon is gorgeous.

I've never been to convention, only state days in VA and GA. What all goes on there?? Can any member go?

Cane94G8r97 10-04-2007 02:55 PM

Yes, any member can go. There are usually official delegates there from each collegiate and alumane chapter. They have a lot of work to do because there are various mandatory meetings. A lot of the business of the Fraternity is conducted during Convention as well as a lot of fun events... such as the aptly names "Fun Nite". I haven't been to Convention since 1997, so I don't know if it is still called that. Convention is also the time when they give out the awsome "silver" awards. I have gone both as a delegate and as a member at large. When I went as a delegate, I did not get very much sleep. :) When I went as a member at large, I had such a blast! It is a little like state day in that there are break out sessions, time to meet a lot of Zetas and ZETA SHOPPING!!

SthrnZeta 10-04-2007 03:06 PM

So it's like National Day instead of State Day? :P

PenguinTrax 10-06-2007 06:36 PM

Yup, and it goes on for better part of a week. There are daily workshops for the alumnae and collegiates, speakers at lunch, theme dinners and usually a Convention Intiation (which is so lovely) and a memorial service for sisters lost during the biennium. There's also a great Fun Night event, too. If you've never gone, I really recommend it. I've been to two, Palm Springs in '00 and Tampa in '02.

Only 6 months to go...

I am so excited about Convention! I just submitted my request for days off for 2008. So, its official that I will be going to Arizona in July. May be once we know the itinerary we can arrange a meeting of all the GCers who attend. Might be fun!

radioZTA 01-07-2008 03:50 PM

Thanks for the reminder! I need to do that for Texas Zeta Days & Convention.

See you there!

Attending convention for the first time

I am relatively new to Greek Chat-do a lot of reading not much posting. I am attending Convention for the first time as the official delegate of my alumna chapter. I am excited as I have been told it is awesome! See you all there

radioZTA 04-25-2008 10:38 PM

Fantastic! See you there!

I'm flying in on Tuesday to do some sales calls for business. ;)

ZTAmillz 04-29-2008 02:29 PM

I sent my registration packet in over the weekend! I am so excited, we should have a greek chat get together. Last week I heard from my PP that only 19 alumna were registered. I hope there are more of us now!

Only 42 Days Left...

Hi, ladies.

There are only 42 days left until Convention, and I could not be more excited.

I hope to see lots of you lovely ladies in Arizona :)

radioZTA 06-11-2008 11:11 PM

I've lost a lot of weight since the last Convention so I have to buy new clothes for the Memorial brunch and the awards banquet!

radioZTA 07-14-2008 08:31 PM

I had a great time at Convention! Collin County Alumnae got Crown Chapter the very first time we were eligible!

CONGRATS! I wish I could have gone this year. I am glad you had fun! Anything "interesting" to report?

DMBabyZTA 07-15-2008 08:07 PM

For those of you who went can you tell me what IO said about the House Bunny movie? I am really curious if they addressed the issue or not. Thanks girls!!

radioZTA 07-16-2008 12:36 AM

They talked about protecting our trademarks (ZTA, Zeta Tau Alpha, Themis, Think Pink) and vaguely referenced the movie because of that. According to Laura, they're going to put a lot of this stuff on the website.

I had a thought...if our letters are trademarked, wouldn't that include our badge?

ZTAMich 07-16-2008 04:49 PM

A link to pictures from Convention is up on the ZTA website. Looks like it was a fun time!!

FSUZeta 07-16-2008 05:36 PM

which collegiate chapter won the top silver award?

ZTABullwinkle 07-16-2008 05:38 PM

I was also wondering who won what awards! I searched the IO website but couldn't find anything.

DMBabyZTA 07-16-2008 07:16 PM

Eta Tau, the college I was initiated at, won Silver. I am not sure if there are multiple silver awards or not. Hope that helps!

Houston Association won one of the top alumnae awards but the poor official delegate was ill the whole time she was in Tucson and didn't make it to the banquet.
