Do Pi Chi's help choose new members?
Are the Pi Chi's able to be a part of the new member selection? Can they put in a good word for any of the girls in their Pi Chi group??

I think that Pi Chi's disassociate with their house for recruitment and then become a member when the bids are reveled.
|
I knew that they disaffiliated, but I wasn't sure if they could still be a part of the voting and had any say as pushing for any of the girls in their Pi Chi group.

I think if a Pi Chi/Rho Chi/Rho Gamma had a SERIOUS problem with a PNM (i.e. stole your boyfriend, saw her do drugs, killed your cat, etc.), they'd be able to tell their chapter. Other than that, Pi Chis do not attend membership selection and do not (or at least should not) communicate with chapter members about PNMs.

Absolutely not. When I was a rho chi, I was not permitted any contact with ANY affiliated sorority members, whether they were in my sorority or not.
|
It is definitely an infraction - would it make sense to have these women disaffiliate from their chapters so that they can be inpartial to PNM's and guide them, listen to their concerns, etc. only to turn around and tell their chapter???
Side note: I have a PNM COMPLETELY bash my chapter to me when I was a Rho Chi... the worst part was, I knew that my chapter really liked her. She had attended pref at both and wasn't sure whether or not to list them both on her bid card. It was really hard not to tell my chapter... (She decided to suicided XYZ who didn't really like and did not receive a bid through formal or COB.) |

One of my girls had some pretty terrible things to say about ladies in my chapter in between rounds and I just had to ask all PNM's to keep an open mind and keep the tent talk down, the same as I did when they talked poorly about chapters that weren't mine. |

The Pi Chi's role is to be an objective adviser for the PNM, not an outside rusher for her sorority. As a Pi Chi, she represents Panhellenic, not her sorority. The Pi Chi has taken on this role voluntarily. The sorority will be penalized if they compromise this position, and both the sororities and the Pi Chi's know this. |
Regardless of disaffiliation rules, you should not say anything in front of a Pi Chi that would really cause you to stand out as a problem PNM.
So, something like "I hate all the chapters I was invited to" is normal PNM frustration and heartbreak, and you can say it in front of your Pi Chi. Something like "I almost didn't make it here in time because I am so tired from the coked-up threesome I had last night" is very likely to get back to the Pi Chi's chapter, and possibly others. |
There is to be zero interaction between the recruitment counselor and her chapter. If a Rho Chi was found to be communicating with her chapter in any way, that Rho Chi was removed from recruitment (meaning she had to spend the remainder of recruitment being babysat by a Panhellenic Exec member during parties because she was still disaffiliated) and her chapter received an infraction.
That is in a perfect world though, and a world without today's technology. These rules were devised in a time where virtually the only ways you could talk to your chapter were via phone or sneaking around to see them in person. There are tons of ways for Rho Chi's to talk to chapter members completely under the radar (texting, IM, Facebook/MySpace messages). So both parties are mostly on the "honor system" when it comes to being disaffiliated. Unless of course you are dumb enough to do something blatant (like go to the bars, get drunk and run up to a group of your sisters saying how much you love being an XYZ) in the presence of a PNM or PHC Exec member, then you will get caught. |

Your questions in all the different threads seem rather fishy. |
Honestly, Jon, the hazing question was the only one I thought was fishy. IMHO, the rest of the questions are ones that any PNM might ask...

But did you see "her" reply to DA in Right/Wrong? IMVHO, something is just not adding up. |

Can we make an exception for Pi Chi's to share THAT with all chapters during recruitment? :p |
