What are we like?

I know that in my state alone there are three chapters of my sorority and they are all different, as in black white and fuschia. Anyways, I haven't seen any posts from anyone in KY which is where I am from. I am an AGD. I also haven't seen many posts from the prodominent sororities on my campus, except Chi O. Anyways, I was wondering what everyone else had seen on here that was weird to them. Also, what is AGD like at your school? I only know a few from other chapters, so that really isn't much to base them on nationally. Thanks!

I agree- I cruise the individual forums just because (as everyone probably knows by now) my whole family is greek - and I never see any chats in their "rooms". It seems strange-do only selected groups visit this site???

I didn't hear about this site until I did a search for other Chi Omega chapters. I was brought here for some reason and decided to join the chatting! I've been hooked ever since!
Maybe the moderators could do some publicity for this site or something to increase the amount of usage by other GLO's and BGLO's. Perhaps if they created a banner ad for webpages that relate to Greek concerns and such, they would help get this site's name out!

Of course this is a *VERY* biased opinion, but.....

ALPHA GAMMA DELTA IS GREAT!

LOL http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif We're the only NPC sorority on my campus, and I think that is one of our strengths. Many of my sisters are from the mainland, so they like the idea of being able to go home and have an AGD chapter or club near them!

Because us AGDs and the TKEs are the only inter/nationals on campus, we tend to do a lot of events together. That's why I love coming on GreekChat so much--it's because even though we wear different letters, we tend to have many things in common. The local sororities on campus are great too, but it's just not the same, you know? It would be nice to have more national GLOs on campus, and I hope that more can colonize in the future.

P.S. ILOVEMYGLO--are you going to Convention this year?

What school are you at in Ky? I am a KA at EKU and if your a AGD at Eastern too then you picked a good chapter. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

ilovemyglo 01-31-2001 06:06 PM

I am at Western Kentucky. I love my chapter!! Even other sororities on campus comment on how tight our sisterhood is!! OohTeen... I don't know about convention yet. I want to, but I just don't know if I can swing it! Oh well!!

Hillbill, We dont have Ceres here but I wish we did, you guys are cool, I like the farmhouse thing. How about a roadtrip/party with the good ol boys of Kappa Alpha one weekend?

ilovemyglo 02-01-2001 01:38 AM

Ceres is a great sorority on our campus!! I think that they have done a tremendous job and deserve a lot of credit. I know that we have always cheered them on!! Way to go and good luck in the future!

Alpha Gam is good at Troy State University! They are all very pretty and always do good in grades and homecoming!

Yeah Richmond sucks. I live there so I can say it. For anyone thinking of going to VCU don't live in the dorms. There is virtully no security, and anyone can wonder in off the streets.

That is so sweet thank you. I think the same about AGD. Look at my profile and email me and we can talk. Sometimes I feel like we are a little behind on some of the greek info. But anyway Go AGD!

And to the KA from EKU I know there is no ceres chapter at EKU but that you for your show of support. My post ment to say do you think there would be any interest in starting a chapter up there. But I couldn't remember my password and had to re-register and part of it was deleated. There are not many Ceres chapters out there (we were only founded internationally in 1984) but to have 3 in one state would be soo cool.

Boy, Billy, you don't sound too optomistic at all! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Richmond doesn't suck, I just graduated from there in May and LOVED every minute. Personally, I hate VCU. I think the area is disgusting and I would NEVER walk around Richmond at night. And I come from NY! I walk around there at night all the time. (Not trying to fight with you, just saying I disagree).

UR and VCU are for TOTALLY different people. People who typically (notice I say typically) go to VCU are way more artsy that the people at UR. Those people are considered "freaky" by UR students. VCU is a city school while UR loves it's bubble! VCU kids don't like the preppy UR kids. They consider us "stuck up". On the other hand, UR is for more conservative, "preppy" (is that a good word?) kids. Most have a ton of money and nice cars and clothes (don't ask me how I wound up there!). Sports and greek life is HUGE at UR.

I went to a few fraternity parties at the VCU houses and I hated them. Not cause it was VCU, just because it was way different than what I'm comfortable with. I like the shirt and tie look that UR kids wear to tailgates and football games. I don't like the "casual" look.

Again, just stating an opinion. Richmond the city sucks. NOTHING to do after 10pm!!!!! Richmond the school is awesome. But only for a certain type of student. It's more for like the NYU crowd.

OOOPS. I think I srcewed up my reply. Let me start over.

Cahs78Mere, I think we can agree that Richmond sucks. I am optimistic about getting away from there http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif VCU is artsy types, but they can be pretty stuck up too.
There is something to do after 10:00pm on Friday and Saturday, if you like Jazz. Its a little clup called ritchie's thats near the science museum. Things don't get really good until about 1:00 am or so.

Billy-

Sorry to get so defensive. It just happens sometimes! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I agree, Richmond sucks. It is very nice during the day--nice restaurants, a few good museums (the science museum needs UPDATING!!!), and Maymont is just to die for.

When it comes to nightlife, forget it. I'm not into jazz, I'm not "artsy" at all. That sounds like fun if you're interested in it. I couldn't believe when I first went into the city at night that everything closed early. I'm used to NYC where the city never sleeps. It seems like all Richmond does is sleep! haha... That's okay though....I'm not a night owl.

I'm actually back in NY now. But I'm going to UR in a few weeks to visit. So maybe we'll check it out....

The one place I love is Have a Nice Day Cafe.....what a blast... http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Totally off the topic of the post so I'll stop now!!!

Billy Optimist 02-03-2001 04:55 PM

Cash-
Yeah, there are a few clubs, but you'd have to be the mood to deal with redneck bouncers. Have fun in Richmond. Where in NY are you from? The city?
