Survivor - China

The website is now up and the show premieres on September 20.

Notable cast member: WWE wrestler Ashley Messaro.

Greeks in the cast: Sherea is an AKA. Also, in the TV guide interview Jeff Probst mentions that Jaime is a sorority girl (she's at South Carolina) but doesn't say which one.

CutiePie2000 08-21-2007 12:01 AM

I'm already fearful as to what some of the 'fear factor-esque' eating challenges will be like.

KDAngel 08-21-2007 12:08 AM

Jaime Dugan is her full name if anyone wants to figure out which sorority she's in at University of South Carolina.

They have:
Alpha Chi Omega
Alpha Delta Pi
Chi Omega
Delta Delta Delta
Delta Zeta
Gamma Phi Beta
Kappa Delta
Kappa Kappa Gamma
Zeta Tau Alpha

From what I can tell, she's not a DZ, KD, Tri Delt or ADPi.

BetteDavisEyes 08-21-2007 12:48 AM

Call me completely ignorant or lame but I couldn't help but notice that the school lunch lady, Denise, has a mullet. /random

ETA: Did I really just read that the guy Todd thinks the Spice Girls are the biggest historical thing in the world? Or something stupid like that? Jeezus.

She's not a ZTA.

Leslie is a host on the local radio station I listen to at work. She's not allowed to be back on the air until after the whole season airs.

Woa....that's a bit much. Is that coming from Survivor & CBS?

Yep. They can't do interviews, public media, etc until they air the episode where that person is kicked off. I'm sure the radio station is saying the whole season to cover themselves. Also, I think they can only do CERTAIN media outlets (aka CBS et al), where the producers can control what they are/aren't asked.

scbelle 08-22-2007 10:37 AM

It strikes me as odd that there are 3 competitors that have ties to SC... it will be hard for me to pick a fave! I lived in Tega Cay for a time, the hubby's from Spartanburg (and I'll have to ask him about Dugan- the name sounds really familiar to me), and the Nashville musician was from Greenville, not too far from Greenwood, where I spent a good deal of time growing up.

bamabelle99 08-22-2007 11:23 AM

Small world...I currently live in Tega Cay!

Sister Havana 09-20-2007 08:47 PM

So is there a rule that Survivor has to film during the rainy season of every place they go? I swear, it would be a surprise not to have a torrential downpour!

SWTXBelle 09-20-2007 08:53 PM

Chicken's reaction to being voted off - best. ever.

NutBrnHair 09-20-2007 09:14 PM

Ashley's reaction to Chicken's reaction to being voted off - best ever!

After watching Kids Nation last night and this tonight, I had a rather odd thought:
Last night there were some kids asking more like adults and tonght some adults acting like kids.

I wish Chicken had stayed around for awhile.

Me too, I really liked him.

I LOVE James though. The gravedigger. He just seems like SUCH a likeable, genuine guy. :)

What was the reaction? My son came into the room to let me know that he had cut his finger rather bad so we had to head out to the emergency room.

SWTXBelle 09-21-2007 05:39 AM

He was actually UPSET - yelled "damn!" - and didn't try to be noble and all that.

SydneyK 09-21-2007 04:12 PM

Is Courtney the waitress from NY? She would be first on my hit list if I were on the show. And whoever said they loved James... I'm right there with you on that one! I'm not sure why, but I think this season is going to be loads better than last season was (maybe I'm just being optimistic).

stagebear 09-21-2007 04:37 PM

i'm a james fan too - he reminds me of the guy from "the green mile"

I had the same exact thought last night! It was so cute when he talked about his problems with being social. I just wanted to reach out and give him a hug. I think that his teammates will like him because he is genuine.

angelic1 09-21-2007 07:50 PM

I liked Chicken too.. sucks he was voted off so soon there are some I would have rather seen gone earlier. Liked the bossy chick... from the other group Courtney has got to go.. I don't think I can stand watching her for that much longer.

CutiePie2000 09-21-2007 11:19 PM

Courtenay is annoying and sorry to be the dissenting opinion, but I couldn't stand Chicken.

BetteDavisEyes 09-22-2007 09:50 AM

Courtney is so damn irritating. She has a serious stick up her ass about being a New Yorker and is proud that people from New York aren't friendly and nice like everyone else. She'd be the first to go if it were up to me.

Chicken's reaction was priceless. Mike and I kept rewinding that part just to watch him go DAMN really loud. LOL!

I loved James. He was really nice and very composed.

That Christian radio host irritated me with her I'll only kneel before Jesus b.s. Oh brother.

LeslieAGD 09-22-2007 09:51 AM

Apparently I missed the first episode. :(

What really stood out to me was that she said, "I'm not a religious person, but that felt like worship."

Why is someone who isn't a religious person a Christian radio personality?

ZTABullwinkle 09-23-2007 03:28 PM

Love James, the grave digger.

Hate Courtney, who can go home toher precious NYC!

Is it just me, or is anyone truly dumbfounded that in as many seasons of Survivor, people show up wearing what they do? Haven't they figured out yet that they are only going to wear what is on their back? Please, comfortable shoes (not boots that weigh 20+ pounds or heels) and a bra should be the first things I would wear.

I had the same thought. Read in TV quide that at least one person had seen all the seasons. And even seeing one should give a person a clue.
Even just signing up for the show should give a person an idea or two.

gypsyboots 09-23-2007 09:27 PM

Well, for that matter, wouldn't you practice starting a fire????

CutiePie2000 09-23-2007 10:46 PM

Learning to swim would be a smart move, too, since a lot of the challenges take place in the water. Oy....

KDAngel 09-28-2007 12:57 AM

All I can say is that I would've voted Dave off. He was so rude. Blah.

They had a discussion yesterday morning on her station here in Charlotte. Basically, what she meant was that religion is all of the organized rules and sects, etc...and she's more of a one-on-one me and Jesus and nobody else type Christian. I listened to her show before she left....I don't think she's your average Christian.

I was mad that Ashley was voted out. I think that camp is screwed now and stuck listening to every word that comes out of Dave's mouth, because no one left would dare question it.

SWTXBelle 09-28-2007 09:48 AM

I hope Ashley's right and Dave soon joins her.

SydneyK 10-05-2007 02:53 PM

I really can't believe Leslie was voted off last night. Especially after Courtney and Todd heard J.Robert and James talking. Crazy.

AlphaFrog 10-05-2007 02:57 PM

I think she dug her own grave when she a)told the other team that Aaron was the leader and b)raved about how awesome the other team was.

After loosing your first challenge (and two in a row) is not the time to vote out your strongest members. However, I do think that I would have voted for Courtney rather than Leslie. I don't really think Leslie is MUCH physically stronger than Courtney, but I don't think she would have cried and fussed during the challenge like Courtney did. The only advantage to keeping Courtney over Leslie is that Courtney is eligible to sit out next challege and Leslie wouldn't have been. But that's not a good reason to vote one out over the other.

SWTXBelle 10-05-2007 07:10 PM

I'm having trouble finding someone to root for - but I do agree Leslie kinda made herself a target.

I not sure if some were over or under thinking their strategy for the merge.
One has to get there first. And as we have seen, numbers and strength help.
Where they too overly concerned about religions beliefs? Time will only tell.
Last season there were a bunch of Greeks on show and they never seemed to get together to kick everyone else out.

AGDee 10-06-2007 10:29 AM

Survivor has changed up the way they do things so much that it's tougher to make these strategic decisions. IF they knew the tribes would stay exactly as they are right now until the merge, THEN they should keep some stronger guys around for a while so that they can win some challenges. However, team work can be a big factor in how tribes do also, so if there is someone who is "toxic", it may be better to get rid of them. THEN you have to factor in that frequently, there are tribal swaps. Some of those big strong guys you're keeping around to win challenges for your tribe may end up on the other tribe before a merge takes place. That's the factor that makes it a lot of guesswork. Courtney screwed up so badly. It wasn't just her lack of strength, because once she started sawing through the ropes, she got them fairly quickly. She didn't stay on task. She kept walking away from it and that is just unacceptable. If I'd been on that tribe, I'd have gotten rid of her. One thing I didn't catch though.. did anybody on her tribe know that Leslie had a clue to the hidden immunity idol and did she share it with anybody on her tribe? She could've bought herself some time with that info, I think.

stagebear 10-06-2007 10:42 AM

didnt leslie tell todd about the idol?

Yes, she did, about 10 minutes after she received the 1st clue.

AGDee 10-07-2007 02:00 AM

Ok, I missed part of that episode because I was picking up my girlie from band practice.
