My Little Sister's BAMA Recruitment!
 

I decided to wait to post this until AFTER recruitment was over and today is bid day! With no mismatch phone call this morning, we know that Little Sister will be opening a bid this evening! There have been some twists and turns for Little Sister over the past week, but what would a great rush thread be without those? I'm going to be posting once a day, just like a real recruitment, but at least you know there will be a happy ending. :)

There are 14 chapters participating in rush at the University of Alabama this year. Here are the chapters (named after men of broadway, since my rush thread was women of broadway) and what Little Sister knew about them prior to recruitment (in most cases, not a lot!):

HAROLD HILL: Sis heard that this chapter was very strong and rarely took out of staters. She had friends in HH at other schools.

BILLY FLYNN: Sis had several friends in this chapter. She heard great things about them from male and female friends.

SEYMOUR KRELBOURN: Sis heard that this chapter was very strong and almost never took out of staters. Sis knew only one SK (not Sigma Kappa! Coincidence!), and this girl was at another school.

MELCHIOR GABOR: Sis didn't know a lot about this chapter going in. She has many friends in this sorority on other campuses.

DANNY ZUKO: Sis didn't know much about this chapter going in, but she was told by male friends that they were "hot." She has a friend who is a DZ (not Delta Zeta! Just a coincidence!) on another campus.

FRANK BUTLER: Sis heard a few not-so-positive things about this chapter from friends on campus. She has a friend who is an FB on another campus.

BOBBY CHILD: Sis heard that this chapter was very girly and also strong on campus. She has more friends in this sorority than any other, but none of them are on campus.

HORACE VANDERGELDER: Sis heard that this was a great, strong chapter.

BILLY BIGELOW: Sis heard that this chapter was a small chapter. She has several friends in this sorority on other campuses.

JAMIE WELLERSTEIN: Sis didn't know much about this chapter, but she has a couple of high school friends in it.

CHRISTOPHER SCOTT: Sis knew several people in this chapter and had heard wonderful things about them.

LINK LARKIN: Sis really didn't know anything about this chapter.

MACK SENNETT: Sis had a friend in this chapter and knew several on other campuses. She heard great things about them.

NATHAN DETROIT: Sis did not know anything about this chapter.

Haha, don't want to give too much away.

I will mention that she is a legacy to one chapter and is also connected to another by a very close family member. I just won't say which ones. :)

ROUND ONE, DAY ONE
 

Sis visited 8 houses today and she will visit 6 tomorrow.

HAROLD HILL: Sis found the girls in this house to be really funny and quirky. She really shared a sense of humor with the first girl who rushed her and really connected with everyone she spoke to. She loved this house.

BILLY FLYNN: Sis got to talk to one of her friends from high school here. Overall, she said that she was not as impressed as she expected to be from what she had heard prior to recruitment, but she liked it.

SEYMOUR KRELBOURN: Sis didn't really like this house and felt very disconnected from the conversations. However, a lot of her friends loved it here and said it was their favorite! She said that if she is invited back, she will give it another chance, but she doesn't expect to be invited back.

MELCHIOR GABOR: Sis liked that it seemed like thought was put into the girls who rushed her. She was rushed by an out of stater and girls with similar interests to her. This was one of her favorites.

DANNY ZUKO: Sis's first words when she called me were "I'm a Danny Zuko. This is definitely it." She said that the first young woman who rushed her was a perfect big sis for her. She met several awesome girls and loves it here.

FRANK BUTLER: Sis liked the girls here a lot and felt very relaxed! She says she can see herself here, but she doesn't love it like Harold Hill, Melchior Gabor, or Danny Zuko.

BOBBY CHILD: Sis found her first rusher at this house to be somewhat uptight... Sis is a bit of a jokester and the girl just stared at her any time she cracked a joke! This was by far her least favorite of the day. Sis felt like she couldn't be herself here at all.

HORACE VANDERGELDER: Sis said that conversation at this house was very, very awkward. It didn't seem like girls were really listening to what she said. Sis did not dislike this house as much as Bobby Child, but if given a choice she would prefer not to go back.

I thought the same thing when I visited the chapter that I ended up becoming a part of... and that girl is now my grand-big!

ROUND ONE, DAY TWO
 

BILLY BIGELOW: Sis said that while this chapter was smaller than the others, they made a great effort to really engage girls in conversation despite some double rushing. Sis is really hoping for the "big sorority" experience, but she is definitely not ruling this house out because she likes the girls she met here today.

JAMIE WELLERSTEIN: Sis had a hard time engaging girls in conversations past "What's your major?" and "Do you know your roommate?" However, she did not get to see her friends here today. She really thinks she would love to give this house another chance if she is invited back, since she knows girls who loved this house a lot.

CHRISTOPHER SCOTT: Sis felt similarly about this chapter to Billy Flynn... she was not as impressed as she expected to be from her friends' descriptions, but she still likes it. She was not rushed by any of her friends here.

LINK LARKIN: Sis said this house feels like a "home" instead of a house. She especially loved being able to sit down at this house! She said this house had a hard to explain aura that just felt great for her.

MACK SENNETT: Sis really felt like a VIP at this house because she was rushed by a close friend who introduced her to officers. She didn't get to meet as many sisters as she did at other houses, but she loved the ones she met!

NATHAN DETROIT: Sis was kind of put off by some of the questions she was asked at this house, but she noted that some of her friends loved it here... she felt that maybe she was just rushed by the wrong girls. She's totally willing to give it another shot.

While girls at Bama don't have to rank houses after each round, Sis made herself a list at the end of each round of recruitment. Here are her thoughts at the end of round one!

Odd that she won't rule this house out but then ranks them as one she's not comfortable returning to....:confused::(

It's not like she hated the chapter. She seems to be having a good experience at pretty much every chapter that she visits, so someone has to be at the bottom.

It's not that she's "not comfortable returning," it's that she's "comfortable not returning." At Bama, girls can only visit 11 houses during round 2, so if she is invited to her top 11, she would not return, but if she is not invited to her top 11 and is invited to Billy Bigelow, she would be glad to go back.

Round Two Invites
 

Sis was invited back to 12 chapters for round two! She was surprised because she had been told that out of staters are usually cut very heavily. Since she was invited back to 12 and can only visit 11, she had to cut one. She said she was glad that she had made the list the night before so that she had already thought about where she would choose not to return in a situation like this. For round two, Sis will visit:

ROUND TWO, DAY ONE
 

For philanthropy round, Sis is visiting 11 houses. She visited 8 today and will visit the other 3 tomorrow.

HAROLD HILL: Sis said that while she didn't love the girls here as much as she did during round one, she still liked them a lot. She has been told that it is rare for an out-of-stater to be invited back for more than one round, so she isn't getting her hopes up for a round three invite.

CHRISTOPHER SCOTT: Sis said she was rushed by a couple of fun, funny girls and got to see her friends. Today, Sis saw the Christopher Scott she was expected from her friends' descriptions of it.

SEYMOUR KRELBOURN: Sis really loved this group's philanthropy. Her first couple of rushers were very sweet, but Sis said she felt like her last rusher was very ready to be done with the conversation pretty early on. Between round one and her last rusher today, Sis doesn't think she can see herself here.

BILLY FLYNN: Sis was rushed by friends here today and felt a lot better about this house. While she isn't certain, she feels much better about how this house could fit her.

NATHAN DETROIT: Sis said that the girls who rushed her at this house seemed to know everything about her. She is really surprised by how much they seem to like her because she doesn't know anyone in this chapter.

JAMIE WELLERSTEIN: Sis liked their philanthropy and liked the girls who rushed her much better than the ones she met during the first round. She is very glad she gave them another shot!

DANNY ZUKO: While Sis enjoyed the other houses she visited, she said she was not happier all day than when she was at Danny Zuko. The philanthropy didn't hit home as much as at Jamie Wellerstein or Seymour Krelbourn, but she liked it and, most importantly, met several girls she connected with. She says she just feels at home.

MACK SENNETT: Sis could not have changed her opinion more about a house. She had a hard time making conversation with anyone who rushed her. While she had a great time here when her friend was rushing her during round one, she has started to wonder if maybe she is better off being friends with her friend, not necessarily sisters.

Sis will visit Link Larkin, Melchior Gabor, and Frank Butler tomorrow. Her favorites today were Danny Zuko, Billy Flynn, Christopher Scott, and Harold Hill.

Haha, it was a long day at work... but I'm back to post!

LINK LARKIN: Sis really loved this house again today and it is definitely her number two choice. She felt a strong connection to their philanthropy and almost cried during the video! She loved the fun atmosphere here and really loved the girls she talked to.

MELCHIOR GABOR: Sis still liked MG, but not as much as she did during round one. She said the conversations weren't as engaging, but she still could see herself being happy here if she was cut by Link Larkin or Danny Zuko.

FRANK BUTLER: Sis said this group had the most creative philanthropy presentation. She liked this house about the same as round one... she thinks she would fit in here, but doesn't love it like she loves her top few houses.

Sis's personal rankings for round two:

Houses Sis would prefer to attend for 6-party round:

3. Harold Hill
4, 5, and 6. Billy Flynn, Christopher Scott, and Jamie Wellerstein

Houses Sis would be happy to attend:

She'll get her invites "tomorrow." Her Rho Chi has warned them that the big cuts happen after round two, so she isn't taking anything for granted... but she's really hoping for invites from at least one of her top three (preferably Danny Zuko!).

ROUND THREE INVITES
 

Sis got her round three invites, and while she knew to expect heavy cuts, she was surprised by how heavy they were both for herself and others in her Rho Chi group. However, she is having a great attitude about it because she knows how lucky she was to have a full schedule for round two, especially her top eleven.

This round, Sis has been invited back to:
Danny Zuko
Harold Hill

She got what she wanted... at least two of her top three... she just wasn't invited back anywhere else. But like she said, "you only need one in the end!" She loves Danny Zuko, but she knows she would be happy at Harold Hill, too. We'll just have to wait and see...

Yay for an update! Awww for your poor sister being cut from 9 groups between rounds... in a live recruitment thread I'd be worrried, but since we know she ends up happy - bring on the drama and the updates!

wow. that is brutal, but she must have the luck of the irish(or someone) to get invited back to two of her faves. go sis!!

I am going to go ahead and place my bets for Harold Hill as Alpha Gam or Alpha Chi!

And I believe Danny Zuko is indeed DZ, or possibly Theta or ADPi!

We'll see if I'm right! :p

ROUND THREE
 

Well, Sis visited both houses today and still likes them both. She knows she could be happy at Harold, but she just can't compare that house to Danny.

HAROLD HILL: At this house, Sis said she couldn't relax because she was so nervous that she was going to be cut (this was her first party and she hadn't yet really processed her invites). Almost every girl she met while waiting to go in was from Alabama, so she was made more nervous by being an out of stater, and one girl told her that if the chapter liked her, they would seat her in a certain location. When she was sat near, but not exactly in, that location, she became concerned that she was going to be cut. She enjoyed the skit and the girls who she spoke to were nice, but she said she couldn't completely relax (through no fault of the chapter).

DANNY ZUKO: Sis is still completely in love here. She visited this house later in the day, so she was able to relax before she got there. She enjoyed the skit and loved the girls she met. She said that by this round, she didn't even feel like she was being rushed at this house... she felt like she was already part of the group. Sis LOVES it here.

So after this round, Sis would obviously rank them:
1. Danny Zuko
2. Harold Hill

Well, if you recall from dgdramadawg's own personal recruitment thread, their mother is an Alpha Gam....

Yep! But I added in Alpha Chi as a possibility because they do have some Atlanta-area girls. But that still doesn't make sense with the out-of-stater thing .... so yeah, my money is on AGD!

I believe that the dgdramadawg family is from the East Coast, not Georgia.

You're right .. I'm thinking of someone else.

I think dgdramadawg is trickier than to make DZ Danny Zuko. Sounds like she has chills and they are multiplying! Go dawgsis!

hehe, but it could be reverse psychology .... but, I am feeling ADPi as Danny Zuko and Alpha Gam as Harold Hill more and more. We'll see!

I'm really enjoying reading everyone's guesses. :) I'm not as familiar with Bama Greek Life as some of you, so it's interesting to see what my descriptions lead you to.

For Prefs, Sis was invited back to only one house.

YAWN... I'm getting sleepy... ;)
