Thanks for the pic bamaaopi! Go Alpha Delta! Go AOII!

irishpipes 08-20-2007 09:51 PM

Hey bamaaoii-
Is it normal that the new members wear t-shirts and shorts for bid day and the members are dressed up? Do the members go change into shorts?

Great pictures!

bamaaopi 08-20-2007 11:17 PM

yes its always been this way because they are all sitting in the football stadium waiting to recieve their bids and once they open them all the new members meet with a member of the sorority holding a poster in front of the stadium and then they run to the house, so its kinda nessecary they were shorts so they don't get all sweaty and ruin their pretty clothes.. the sisters of the house are waiting in front of the house with their bid day shirts and a bad for them full with cute aoii stuff, as long as i've been there we always dressed up and they always wore the shirts and shorts or capris...
Alpha <3

ps you should really come check it out one day they call it running of the bulls, all the frat boys and parents come out to watch these girls running to 14 different houses. its AWESOME

OleMissGlitter 08-21-2007 09:38 AM

Nu Beta (Ole Miss) started wearing dresses on Bid Day about 3 years ago. It's really nice I think. Some of the houses at Ole Miss do it and some still just wear shorts and their cute Bid Day shirts. All of the NMs however wear shorts or cute jeans and their Bid Day Jerseys!

carnation 08-29-2007 06:41 AM

My daughter, now a senior, is sooo excited! She said that Delta Epsilon chapter took the best of the best with 30 fabulous girls (20 was quota plus they had 10 QAs). Yayyy! She was so excited that she was hoarse and she'd only had 15 hours of sleep in the past week but said it was all worth it!

AOIIalum 08-29-2007 06:57 AM

Thanks for the update, C! I love happy news :)

aopirose 08-29-2007 08:02 AM

Fabulous!

aopinthesky 08-29-2007 08:26 AM

Delta Epsilon

Carnation,
I was just going to make a report and you beat me to it! I was there all weekend and they had the best recruitment I have EVER seen them have. Most years AOII is head and shoulders above the rest, but this year they were head, shoulders, knees and toes above everyone else.
Baby Berry kept me entertained all weekend, she is one of a kind!
Anna

carnation 08-29-2007 09:04 PM

:eek:OH NO!!!! Do I want to know what she did to keep you entertained or would I be better off not knowing?LOL!

She says y'all pledged half of this town!

aopinthesky 08-30-2007 08:33 AM

LOL - some things are just better left alone!! Those Rome girls love AOII.

irishpipes 09-17-2007 10:55 PM

Yay for Arkansas! 73 new members! Quota was 63 and they are above total too!

Beryana 09-18-2007 12:19 AM

WOO HOO!!!! Go Xi Omicron - and without a house, too!!!

aopirose 09-18-2007 08:29 AM

VERY GOOD NEWS!!! Congrats to Xi Omicron and to the alumnae volunteers.

OleMissGlitter 09-18-2007 09:10 AM

GO XI OMICRON! YEAH! That's is fabulous news! Big hugs and roses to the advisers, corp. board, and everyone working so hard!

barnard1897 09-18-2007 08:11 PM

Happy happy happy day! I just heard that one of the girls I recommended to Iota pledged AOII at Illinois last weekend! YAAYYYYYYYY! I was a little surprised because she is an Alpha Chi Omega chapter legacy and could easily have been in a lot of houses down there, but I guess she picked the right ALPHA house in the end!!!! :)

irishpipes 09-19-2007 10:54 AM

yay Barnard! Iota is my chapter so I am glad she is there! Alpha Chi Omega is really strong at U of I - that's great that we wooed her to a different Alpha house!

AOII_LB93 09-19-2007 09:05 PM

LB picked up 21 lovely NMs. I believe quota was either 28 or 31.

barnard1897 09-19-2007 11:22 PM

:)More to the Alpha Chi legacy story coming-gotta hear what happened from her mom, who is SUPER happy she's in AOII, though, and told me this in follow up:

DD's very close friend from home also went through FR at Illinois. They were not in the same Rho Chi group and did not see each other at all during the whole period. Wellllllllllllll, imagine their total excitement, joy, and surprise when they finally saw each other for the first time in weeks at bid day, and both were in... (wait for it)

A-A-AOII
ALPHA OMICRON PI
ME FOR MY FOR AOII
OH HOW I LOVE MY AOII!

That's when you know that you and AOII are MFOE! Add THAT to the interesting places you have found AOIIs!

I have to say, it's nice to have the RFM at work, because honestly, she could have been strung along at some of the other houses for while, but with nearly 98-99% returns at houses like Theta and Chi O, and massive bloodbath cutting early on at places like those, she was able to narrow her focus and in her own words "really talk and get to know the girls." The rest is history!

barnard1897 09-19-2007 11:25 PM

Hugs to LB! Hope they can easily COB back to quota!

Things must be changing - those 2 chapters wouldn't have come to mind as having top return rates when I was there. Interesting. (Not that they were bad - they just weren't as strong as some others.)

barnard1897 09-21-2007 12:34 AM

From what I heard, DG, Theta and Chi O all had great returns. I don't know about the other houses.

For the past few years, Theta and DG consistently have been the unofficial "top" houses to join, at least from the point of view of the mothers and daughters in our area.

UMNAOII 10-01-2007 05:45 PM

Tau Results!

Tau chapter at the University of Minnesota got quota of 18 new members!!! This includes 2 legacies!! They also had the highest return rates of all sororities, including 99% after day 1! Now they're need 5 more members to reach campus total of 75!

They're very excited, and are expecting to be at total by the end of this week.

Great Job TAU!!!!!!

barnard1897 10-01-2007 11:35 PM

Dozens of roses for Tau! That is terrific news! I hope they are doing the happy Pi dance!

irishpipes 10-26-2007 01:17 PM

Today is bid day at our newest colony at Columbus State! Happy thoughts and roses to them!
