News from our Crew
Let me just begin by saying that my daughter has a phenomenal group of friends from her high school class and her discipleship group at church (a few went to different high schools).
While her class had their groups of "best friends" like at most schools, they really were amazing when compared to any other class of girls I've known in that they moved easily from group to group, and they really did not have any cliques that were "closed". So if it sounds like I am reporting the recruitment results of greater North Georgia, when I say "a friend of my daughter's", I do mean it, as the loosey-goosey group of friends numbered in the 50's. (Imagine how much fun we had trying to find a location for a mother-daughter luncheon prior to graduation last spring--past groups needed space for 60 and we were at 100+!) With that said, the first two friends are done at Georgia Southern and they are now proud members of Zeta Tau Alpha and Phi Mu! More news when I hear from church friends at Valdosta and Auburn. :) |
Yay! And I can't wait to hear your UGa update too!
|
My sister had two friends pledge Phi Mu at Southern as well! :)
|
Yes, and just as important as UGA, I want to hear about that special recruitment at an undisclosed campus near and dear to you personally. :)
|
Congratulations!
|
Quota at Southern?
Do you know what quota was this year at Ga Southern?
|
Valdosta update--a classmate went Kappa Delta. Church friend decided not to go through recruitment.
UGA girls were still having a good time yesterday, this morning they find out where they'll go for 12 parties today. |
Church/D-Group friend is a new Phi Mu at Auburn!
|
Just got the UGA update:
Daughter's very best friend (VBF) was invited back to 12 Very close friend (and roommate of VBF!) invited back to 12 Other friends were invited back to 10, 6, 3 & 3 parties Those were the only girls VBF had talked to when she called a few minutes ago. |
UGA
I haven't updated because I haven't heard a lot. My friends (the moms!) are getting stressed so I don't want to keep asking, and my daughter has only talked to a couple of the girls because they are all exhausted. I think there have, so far, been a few surprises and some disappointments, so I'll wait until tomorrow when the results are final.
As for the two sophomores who were trying again...one still in, one out. There were nine total, seven freshmen and two sophs. |
good luck to them all.
|
Well, I've heard most of the results, so as of this point in time I know that:
At UGA: Very Best Friend is a new Delta Delta Delta (a chapter legacy); Very Close Friend (roomie of VBF) is a new Gamma Phi Beta; Good Friend is a new Delta Gamma (a chapter legacy); Church/D-group Friend is a new Delta Gamma; 2 Friends got bids from Alpha Delta Pi. Two other friends made it through prefs with one chapter each, but did not receive bids. Two dropped out of the process. At GCSU (Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville): Good Friend is a new Delta Zeta. |
NU - isn't your dd going through someplace? That must not start yet?
Starts here on Monday! I'll keep an eye on Kappa for you!;) |
She is....they started today! :)
|
Best of luck to your daughter! The Greek sector was absolutely swarming with girls today... it seems like sorority recruitment gets bigger every year, but that could just be me getting old. ;)
|
Dear daughter has two days under her belt and she has lost her voice, so she didn't want to update too much. She got back the maximum number of invitations, so she was very hot and tired by the end of the day.
Tomorrow is the first day of school, so she was going to bed early. Or so she told me! ;) |
Happy rush thoughts to BabyNuBlue!
(Although if she was HERE at NU she could be starting tomorrow with dd as her RG! ....but, LOL, :p I'll be thinking of her!) |
Alabama
Good Friend is a new member of Delta Delta Delta at Bama! Roll Tide!
|
It's almost here......

Congratulations to your daughter and her friends, and Phi Mu and Alpha Delta Pi! I'm a total sap for saying this, but it makes me smile thinking about the fact that your daughters are now sisters twice over. What a lovely and special thing to share with each other :)
|
More to come...
There are still friends who have not finished recruitment!
We're waiting on Jacksonville State, Mercer and Samford, so stay tuned! ;) (And thanks for all the good wishes...they are very happy girls today!) |

question for NUBlue & Blue
Quote:
NUBlue&Blue- Out of curiosity, can you tell me out of your group,is there a correlation between who got the most, first inviations and who got a bid at the end? Did the PNM's that only had 3 or 6 invitations on the first round, end up getting a bid? Did they all have recs? How many that pledged, were legacies? Did any legacies not get a bid? My niece is going through rush right now. I know what the general rules are, but was just wondering with you knowing so many going through all at once, what the statistics ended up being at the end? with your group? Thanks so much. |
Did the PNM's that only had 3 or 6 invitations on the first round, end up getting a bid? The biggest cuts were made the next day and most were left with 4 invitations or less (6 was the max), one of the girls with three dropped out, the one with 6 did not receive a bid
Did they all have recs? Yes, I believe most of them had recs--it is well known in our community that you can't go through rush at UGA w/out recs How many that pledged, were legacies? 2 Did any legacies not get a bid? No The girl with 10 invites dropped out (not sure what she got after 2nd round when they did the most severe cuts). |
Congrats to both your daughters! I know how special an experience it can be for "with the same parents" sisters to share the same sorority, and I'm sure your older daughter is ecstatic.

Your daughters are going to have wonderful memories years from now.
My biological sister and I were able to share one year together in ADPi-my freshman year and her senior year. It was SOOO much fun! (And now her only daughter and my oldest daughter, while not ADPis, DID keep the "Alpha" and the three letters! Hers is an Alpha Chi Omega, and mine is an Alpha Xi Delta. I'm holding my breath for my youngest daughter to make it back to Alpha-and Delta-and Pi!!:D) |
congratulations to your daughter and phi mu.
|
It's such a happy recruitment ending!
And it sounds like it was a pretty successful recruitment for all the groups at Tech! |
Mercer
Good Friend is a new member of Alpha Delta Pi at Mercer! :)
