I decided to make a thread for this season of RW so that if I miss any episodes, maybe someone can catch me up on here. I'm a Real World junkie.

hey i watched the first two episodes on demand (they showed the whole episodes even though mtv hasnt yet!) and the season looks like it could get a lil interesting. not as good as austin though!!

They should have taken hints from London and Paris. This season better be drama filled or it'll bomb.

The previews that I've seen looked like it should be quite the dramatic season. I'm pretty sure there may be some physical fighting this season...maybe even with someone getting kicked out! Who knows!

I think its going to be a big orgy...several times.

I hate that I have onDemand and never remember to use it. Blah. But OK, I'm ready for yet another season; Bring on the RW.

I'm watching for Parisa, I really want her to knock the crap our of Kelly Ann and Trisha :mad: Did MTV intentionally pick the most ignorant sheltered folks for this season...do they not know Americans are already not liked overseas?

and that chick with that very racist comment, this coming from the Christian girl :rolleyes: , I would've gotten kicked off right then and there :p Parisa talking to her mom about the teachers talking down to her because she had a thick accent brought back some memories from middle school when my Dad would talk to the teachers and they would treat him like he was mentally challenged :mad:

Again, what'll kill this season are the inane hookups and the focus on them! Please we want drama not hookups...I really don't care about who that kid Isaac is gonna nab!

Yup. When she said she was Persian I was like "Oh Fck! Someone is gonna say something extremely inappropriate" All of the other girls are basically copycats of each other. And I am glad I'm a guy. Those types of girls are so fake and immature to me its sad.

But I have to say I disagree with the general concensus here...Parisa was totally obnoxious and devoid of a personality. Everything she said pretty much got on my nerves. Everyone else I liked.

I wouldn't mistake maturity for lack of personality--sometimes, especially after you've graduated, it is tiring to try to keep up with people who get sloppy.

In any case, and I don't want to be a spoiler but based on Parisa's myspace....it looks like her an Kelly Anne have made peace.

Definitely 100% agree. I have friends who are over 21 who didn't go to college and they pretty much haven't matured in the bar department. Annoys the crap out of me.

But Parissa was really self-righteous about it. It's the Real World, what does she expect? The show gets crazier and crazier each year.

that doesn't justify Trisha saying those things if you're referring to the comment, and she is putting up with a lot, besides Trisha (think she's from San Diego), she's the only person from a major diverse city...the rest come from small towns and are very sheltered, that and she's the only cast member of color in a country not as diverse as many cities in the U.S. or elsewhere...it would be difficult to not get irritated then

Sloppy in what sense? I mean it was Trish who was complaining about having to do everyone else's dishes...and Parisa was acting like a bitch about it.

And at the end of the episode, Parisa and Kelly Anne had a mini-makeup session...not that I think it's going to be all rainbows and butterflies for the rest of the season because that would get BORING! I'm looking forward to the Cohutta and Big-Boob-Girl drama!! (Sorry--can't remember her name!)

Still, though, if she didn't want to have to deal with drunk people then she really should have thought twice about applying to be on Real World...

Trisha is from Fresno. Shauvon is from Sacramento. Parisa is from New York. Isaac is from Cleveland. The other three are from the South.

And in case you haven't opened your eyes to the last eighteen seasons of the show, there is ALWAYS drunken debauchery because that is a large contributer to the ratings that MTV is going for from its target market for the show...most of whom are college students who get drunk.

I'm not as surprised that she's Latina as I was when I found out that Jen from Denver supposedly was :eek:..what ethnicity is Shauvon...I know plenty of Mexicans, Argentines, and Colombians who look like her

Were you even born when they first started airing Real World? It was doing pretty damn well before when they were dealing with REAL issues. All the debauchery started with Vegas. MAYBE with Hawaii, but there were still real issues then.

You and me both! I was very disappointed that there are no Australians in the cast. I think it worked much better when the casts were a mix of locals and out of towners. I liked it much better when they didn't all have the same job and had to do their own things. (IIRC, the applications from the earlier seasons asked why you wanted to go to whatever city they were filming in and what you planned to do there.) It wasn't all about drinking and hooking up with your roommates. Remember when the shower scene in RW Miami was actually shocking? When Amaya and Colin coupling up in Hawaii was a novelty because there'd never been a Real World couple during filming? Now if the housemates DON'T hook up with each other, it's a surprise.
(How scary is it that there are cast members from the first few seasons who are old enough to be the parents of current cast members? Makes me feel ancient!)

That said, I caught the first episode late last night. I liked Parisa the best of the girls, I'd have liked to see more of Cohutta (he's funny!) and I thought KellyAnne was super annoying.

Keeping my fingers crossed that Dunbar doesn't cheat on his girlfriend, but I know how unlikely that is. In previews for this week's episode, it looks like he's making out in bed with a blonde (Trisha or Shauvon?), but I'm not positive it's him. That poor girl back home, that must be SO HARD to have a boyfriend be on the show when you know what typically goes on each season.

So far, the girl I like best is Shauvon. While Trisha and KellyAnne seem like they're going to be annoying and catty, I think that also just reflects their ages (19 and 20). Parissa needs to loosen up.. going home on the first night out with all your roommates?? Ridiculous. KellyAnne made a good point about Parissa's snide "I don't want to baby-sit" remarks.. she went home early! So maybe getting falling-down drunk isn't the best first impression to make, but really, what do you expect from The Real World?

Dunbar is HOT and Isaac is hot in a bad-boy way.. Cuhotta, not so much.

I was born in 1986. And there was definitely debauchery in Hawaii, considering Ruthie almost DIED of alcohol poisoning. But my point was just that MTV goes with what sells, and what gets the most ratings.

is this the season where america got to choose the house guests?

No...that should be next season.

Am I the only one who noticed a shift in the cast through the Season Preview?

Am I the only one who remembers the debauchery of the early seasons? Granted it's much worse now, but didn't the Miami cast have a threesome in a shower at some point? I think they were season 4 or 5.

ETA: what's with snarkyness over who's old enough to have seen the early RW seasons? Calm down, it's reality t.v.

I think the best season was the first season. But, I think that's true of most things.

Even season one had Becky sleeping with one of the guys from the crew. I still like the original seasons better. When the first season came on I dreamt about the day that I would be old enough to be on Real World. Then Road Rules came on and that was even better! Let's not forget that Mark and Kat hooked up the first season and Los tried to hook up with the Native American girl that same season. :)

Season 2 of RW had sexual assault (real or perceived?), an abortion, a wedding and lesbian Beth irking straight Beth. Honest to God real life issues!

Now it's drunken rants followed by sober rants followed by drunken "I love you. You are my best friend. Let's make out." :roll eyes:

Season 2, the biggest drinker was the Irish guy and I don't think he could hang with any of the recent cast.

The point is, is that those were all shocking. And let's face it, unfortunately MTV sets the standards for what teens and young adults are into. They start getting sexual and selling sex, other mediums will take on that plan.

And to answer your question... I just have no respect for people who think the way some of these people do... ie: asking why Parisa is even there cuz she's like a mom.

I just watched this week's episode online...and I was LMAO at Parisa getting carried home drunk after making such a big deal about being "over" all that stuff. I was a little surprised at Kelly Anne's lack of involvement in this episode...she kind of just followed Trisha around the whole time and seemed like a little puppy. I guess it's okay though cause at least that way she didn't say anything of sub-human intelligence. And, Shauvon's "confession-of-shame" the morning after her hookup was heartbreaking!
