Bridget Jones' Diary
I just got home from seeing this movie and IT WAS HYSTERICAL. Seriously, my friend and I were laughing our butts off throughout the whole thing!
And Hugh Grant, so YUMMY! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif Yeah, Hugh Jackman, Hugh Grant, I am likin those Hughs lately! LOL Anyway, I recommend Bridget Jones--it was much fun! |
I've been wanting to see this movie ever since they started showing the previews! I didnt get a chance to go see it yesterday- for some reason i thought it came out next friday http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/confused.gif anyway- i am glad you liked it- it looks like a cute, funny movie! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif ill have to go check it out soon!

Hi guys! I looked at my MSN CitySearch--for some reason, they don't list it as movies that are currently out! Is it already out, or is it coming out?
And Renee Zellweger is SOOO cute--gosh that is just so insane if that Bazaar rumor is true. How tall is she anyway? She would be UNDERWEIGHT if she is 130 and above maybe, say, 5'4...anyway, I think she looks good, and HEALTHY. Plus she is so cute, and that would be ruined if she became a stick. *ahem*--Calista Flockhart, Lara Flynn (from "The Practice") Gosh, they don't even know that they look BAD as sticks... I have heard of models that are 5'9 and weigh 120. Now that is just SICK. I understand if that's just their metabolism...but most likely, it is not. I'm only 5'3, and I'm skinny (but on the Health scale, I'm still healthy and in the range of the right weight), but it's b/c of my metabolism...and also, I try to GAIN pounds by eating ice cream and stuff! But it just doesn't work for me. [This message has been edited by newbie (edited April 07, 2001).] |
I, too, am looking forward to this movie. I think Renee Zellweger is cute, even with a few "extra pounds."
I really hope its just a nasty rumor that Harper's Baazar knocked her from the cover because of the weight she gained for the movie. What did she get up to? 125 or 130? PLEASE, what kind of example does that set... Anyway, off my soapbox, I must say that Hugh Grant is yummy http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |
ahhh, if Renee Zellwegger has a few "extra pounds" then i must have like an extra dump truck or something http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif anyway - i can't wait to see this movie - and now with a credible source (thank you amy) saying its hysterical i'm going to see it asap!

Hey guys! It comes out on Friday http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif. and Renee Zellweger looks BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! Shame on others who think otherwise, just b/c of her "weight." http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif

My sisters and I have already planned this as a GIRLS ONLY!! night out. It would just be wrong to bring a date to this movie. Not only that, Mr. 33 wouldn't appreciate me sitting and drooling over Hugh Grant.
|
http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif It comes out Firday the 13th. I live in LA and it was playing here this weekend, so I snuck in to see it!
renee looks good--NORMAL in the movie--it makes me ill to think that anyone would think that was overweight. A |
Like Newbie, I couldn't find Bridget Jones listed anywhere as being currently out either, which confuses me because I really want to see that movie! If it is anything like the book it has to be great!!!! Plus it has Colin Firth and Hugh Grant in it(I am such a huge Colin Firth fan because of the 6 hour BBC version of Pride and Prejudice)And if they had gotten anyone but Colin Firth to play Mark Darcy it would have been just wrong.
You're right though, I was looking at the pictures of Renee Zellweger from that movie and she looks so adorable and looks very healthy...maybe even realistically so. |
I read the book, and the sequel and LOVED the movie. Its a very close interpretation of the source material. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I have the same issue. Reading the book and then being disappointed by the movie. I'm halfway through the second book (read the first months ago) and I woke people in my house because I was laughing so hard. I've never had a book do that to me before. I'm taking my mom to see the movie on sunday. I can't wait!!! |
Have any of you read the book? I read it last year and loved it. I'm actually afraid to see the movie because when you like the book - the movie is usually horrible by comparison. Also, the character in the book was a little neurotic and silly - which added to her charm and the reason readers related to her. From what I've seen of publicity for the movie they are trying to portray her as the ultimate single woman and more powerfull. That might ruin the original vision of the character. Then again, I won't know til I see it.

I loved the movie, we had a sneak preview on campus and it was so funny. I think Renee looks great, and that society places far to much emphase on body weight

Just saw BJD over the weekend...so funny! I dragged Mr. QTPie along, and he just loved it! Not just a chick flick, I tell you..Men will enjoy, too! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif

Ladies ~ If you enjoyed the book "Bridget Jones' Diary", I have another book for you that you'll probably love! It is Called "Jemima J" by Jane Green and is an "ugly ducking turns into a swan" story featuring a single British woman frustrated with her looks, her job and her love life. Very entertaining, and it reminded me a bit of "Bridget Jones" Just thought I'd let you know!

Killarney Rose--that was so nice of you! That sounds like an excellent book--I will definitely check it out!
I saw BJD the other day--it was excellent! And I haven't even read the book yet! It was humorous, touching, sweet, and ALL THAT!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif |
I havent seen the movie yet, but i ordered the book from barnes and nobles online- im too busy to actually drive to the store- so anyway- i should get it this week. I am so excited about it!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

I LOVED IT I LOVED IT I LOVED IT I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
i loved the book to begin with. i was floored by how AMAZING renee was. from that very first scene i was hooked. i felt so bad for her http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif . i'm going to see it again this week with my best friend. the only other movie i've seen twice in the theatres ever was Titanic, and that was because i went with just one friend the first time and the second time i went with about 10 of my gammaphi sisters. it was quick the hilarious scene. we all started crying when the ship started to sink, halfway through the movie, and didn't stop until it ended! But i digress http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif . Everyone should see Bridget Jones. It was amazing. (it was worth seeing just for that scene where Hugh Grant falls into the water http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif ) |
I saw it Saturday night too! It was AWESOME. I walked out of the theater telling my guy that there's one difference between Bridget and me - I fall down more often. I really could relate to her though.
Renee was adorable in the movie. I thought she looked great. Overall, it was a great movie experience. I can't wait for the DVD to come out http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif |
I saw Bridget Jones' Diary this past Saturday. It's my new all-time favorite movie -- I haven't enjoyed a movie that much in YEARS!!!! I can't wait til it comes out in stores so I can buy my own copy -- and the soundtrack is awesome too!! If you haven't seen it, go tonight!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Now I am more than anxious to see the movie. I just finished reading the book and it was sooo funny! has anyone read the sequel? seriously thinking of buying it. Finished the book in less than a week (v.g) hehe http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif it was too fun to put down, plus its a very light and easy reading book.

buy it!!! i just finished it last week and i LOVED it. i actually had to keep myself from reading it on the subway because everyone around me thought i was a freak. i guess laughing out loud on public transit during rush hour can freak people out. lol. i just couldn't contain my laughter. trust me, pick it up. you'll regret it if you don't. besides, aren't you dying to know if she stays with mark darcy??? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif [This message has been edited by gphi2k (edited April 24, 2001).] |
YES! YES!I do want to know what happens with her and Mark Darcy. So is the movie like the book, and if it is- does the movie cover book I and II?

Here's the hilarity of a problem that would arise if the second book is also made into a movie. probably the most hilarious scene in the entire book is when bridget interviews Colin Firth, who she is infatuated with, and she keeps asking him questions about Sense and Sensability. Colin Firth, of course, plays Mark Darcy in the movie. I'd love to see how they get around that. It would be such a shame to take that scene out all together http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif . Either way, the paper back is a pit pricey (25 dollars here, so probably about 20 by you). WORTH EVERY PENNY . |
