Happy 6 months Newbie! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
I've been with my sweetie for 3 years and 2 months now....I actually met him while rushing my sorority! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif He was in the Kappa Sig colony on my campus (which has since folded) and our sorority had an event with the Kap Sig's....cosmic bowling! I'm a good bowler (in a league for 14 years!) and Art sucked, so his brothers suggested I give him some personal lessons! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif Anyway, we exchanged numbers, he called, our first date was on a pub crawl that my high school bud was having for her 19th b-day, and the rest is history! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Actually he is the sweetest guy. He waited till Valentine's Day to "officially" ask me out....more romantic that way he says! He has helped me (and my family) out in many ways, emotionally, monetarily, etc.! When he got a job in Toronto (we're both from Halifax, NS!) he didn't give a second thought to asking me to move with him there....he knew he couldn't live without me! For my 20th b-day he gave me a promise ring....in front of all my sorority sisters! He told them all (and asked my parents for permission first! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif ) what he was doing, so they all stood behind us going "Awwwww!!!" He's even paying for me to go back to school in Sept! Wow....I babble about him way too much! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif LOL! I love him! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif Happy Anniversary Newbie....! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif ------------------ Vera Sister Plum #13 Iota Beta Chi Sorority Webmaster http://welcome.to/iotabetachi |
Happy 6 months! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
sappy stories huh? How about when he proposed to me. The dixie chicks were in town and we had second row seats. They are my favorite band, so we decided to make an evening of it. I 'knew' he was going to propose--the jewelry shop made the mistake of calling him at home and I saw their number on the caller ID. So we're at our favorite restruant, spluging on the Japanese Hibachi and Sushi. When I see him reach for his pocket. Then all of a sudden this bratting little boy comes running around our table acting like an airplane. His hand drew away from his pocket. Dinner finished, still nothing. We pay our bill and begin to walk to the car. He drops the keys on the ground, bends down to 'pick them up', grabs the box and gets on one knee. He said: "Mikki, I love you more than I've ever loved anyone. We've been together for a year and a half and I don't know what my life would be like without you, and I don't want to think about what my future would be like without you. You're everything I've looked for in a woman and more. Will you make me the happiest man in the world and be my wife?" Even though I knew it was coming--I still bawled like a little baby! The hostesses from the restraunt came out and saw us and invited us back in for free drinks, where the sushi chef (we're excellent customers) gave us a set of handmade japanese bowls as an engagement gift. We went to see the Dixie chicks that evening and had a wonderful time. |
awww, Mikki
thats the sweetest story! that is totally what i want - the guy down on one knee - i think its the most romantic thing ever http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif and HAPPY 6 MONTHS NEWBIE! |
Aww, Girls, those are the sweetest stories I have ever heard! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif You guys are very lucky to have sweet men like that as your bf's/fiances/husbands. C'mon MEN OF GC how about YOUR Stories! Mikki, when are you guys getting married? Or are you already married? I wish you the best, you guys sound so cute together! That is just so sweet, especially the dropping of the keys!
IowaHawkeye, that poem is so gorgeous. You must tell your bf that he has many fans!! LOL http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif I wish I got a poem! I just started dating this terrific guy, so we'll see, hehe. Sisterplum, you have such a keeper!! What a sweetheart! Valentine's Day is the best day IMO to start a realtionship, have a wedding, get engaged, etc. And the promise ring....you lucky doll! And again HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MY DEAREST NEWBIE!!! Actually, you know what guys? I've met her bf Shawn before! b/c I am one of those Tour Guides for my University. Well, it's just so coincidental! They make such a cute couple (they won Prince/Princess for the Winter Formal, I heard)... I've never seen Newbie so happy until she met Shawn. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif He's the real deal, I guess! And that's saying a lot, b/c I've had relationships before w/football players, and I've been greatly hurt by them. Shawn is a football player--so when Newbie told me about their relationship--I was really scared for her. But I met him and well, let's just say that I'm proud of Newbie for having such good taste hehe. Too bad I haven't met another football player like Newbie's guy! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/mad.gif. (Me and Newbie are really close b/c we went to the same HS together...though I have now graduated, and she is 2 years younger than me http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif) [This message has been edited by Theta-cutie (edited April 04, 2001).] |
I've been with my guy for over 3.5 years now, and we've had our share of ups and downs, but overall, its been the most amazing experience of my life.
We started "going out" on 9.7.97. Our first date wasn't until October. On our first date, we had walked from a coffee shop to a nearby park and saw a wedding going on. We sat on a bench and watched from afar. At one point, he put his arms around me told me he loved me. I was completely melted. In the time we've been together, he's written me poems for almost every special occasion, bought me teddy bears for no reason...he calls me his princess, and for our one year anniversary, he bought me a tiara! This year for my 21st birthday, he got me an Adopt-a-Bear, and a silver heart engraved with my name and '21'. But most of all, he's been my best friend. He's been there for me in so many countless ways. He was there the night I found out my mom had cancer. He was there for our senior class trip. We've had a million experiences together. We take mini-road trips, driving around Baton Rouge getting ourselves lost and singing along to Britney in the car. He's even held my hair back when I've been sick from too much to drink! He's just the most amazing guy. I fit with him like I fit with no other person in this world. He knows what I'm going to say, before I even say it sometimes. He can tell when I'm fibbing about something...he knows all my moods... Sheesh, I'm rambling! Josh is the only guy I've ever dated. But all the waiting was worth it! I can't imagine ever being with anyone else! |
WOW, Juniorgrrl, I'm so jealous of you. I really hope to find (or maybe the guy I am dating now will be) a soulmate. You and Josh sound like true soulmates...and it is just so ironic that you guys saw a wedding on your first date! Maybe that is a hint of what is to come, LOL. 9-7-97! That is hella cool http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif. He sounds like the Prince to your Princess! *dreamy sigh* LOL...ahhh I love romance, too...
I was the child always reading "Cinderella," "Snow White," "Sleeping Beauty," and "The Little Mermaid." http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif |
C'mon, guys of GC, we want to hear your stories, too!
Let's see if you can "beat" any of the stories here...well, maybe not http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif, but I still want to hear them too anyways! |
Newbie and Theta-cutie, check your mail http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Theta:
We're getting married September 29th of this year. |
Well, I don't know how sappy this is, but it's definately cute. My fiance and I have an awesome story of how we met. So, here it is!
When I first came to college I took a job as a waitress at the biggest restuarant in town. (It's a small town.) Well, as in any other restaurant, you tend to get a lot of regulars. One person who always used to ask to sit in my section was a little girl named Angie. She was about 8 when we first met. A lot of the other waitresses thought she was annoying, but I figured she was just lonely so I always tried to entertain her. Fast forward a couple years, and I'm now one of the head cooks. So Angie comes in one day (she's 10 now) and calls me out of the kitchen to talk. (Not a good thing to do at a busy restaurant! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif) Well, the first thing she wants to know is how old I am. Then she tells me "that's the exact same age as my big brother! You guys need to meet, so give me your phone number." Well, she's not the type of kid you say no to. Likewise, he couldn't say no to her when she insisted that he call me, even though we had never met and she had never spoken of me. We got together a few days later and have been together since. Angie is now 13, and is one of the bridesmaids in our wedding that is on May 19th of this year. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif (That's in six weeks!!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif ) [This message has been edited by pbear19 (edited April 05, 2001).] |

Josh and I are both from a smallish suburb of New Orleans. Both of our families have lived there for a long long time. My parents were attorneys that represented a local bank. His mom worked as a loan officer in that bank. I was born in February, Josh in September. My mom had recommended her OB to Josh's mom. After I was born, my mom had a giant bottle of prenatal vitamins left over - she gave them to Josh's mom. I honestly don't remember meeting him growing up, although I always knew about him. Well, right before our 1 year anniversary, his mom found a baby picture of us together! We were in a playpen at a bank picnic and it was of just the 2 of us! Its crazy that we didn't *really* meet until the summer before our senior year of HS, huh? |
Newbie...I hope you had a wonderful anniversary. Sounds like it was an awesome day. I loved the story of how you fell for your boyfriend. I was sitting here about to cry. I'm such a hopeless romantic!!! Ohh...and just to let you know...I'm having a helluva time being single!!! I finally got really tired of dating jerks after I broke up with my last ex so I'm just waiting for Mr. Right. Hopefully he's gonna come along before I'm old and gray!!! HEHEHEHEHE!!! In the meantime...I'm loving being able to flirt with anybody and everybody!!!!

Pls tell Shawn that I said hi, and that I'm darn proud of him! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif And guess what, Newbie? I still remember the story of how you guys met http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif. It's got to rank among the best how-you-met stories!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif Talk to you soon, "Little Sister!" Love, Caitlin

ive got a really cute story... but if either lesbians or meeting someone from the internet totally makes you wanna gag, just stop reading now. LOL.... fair warning?
quick backgroud, i met a girl online, convinced her to come visit me, i was already totally in love with her cuz i thought she was simply amazing. fastforward: may, 1999,at the airport... im sitting on the floor, in front of the gate, cuz there's no seating.... she's the LAST one to get off of the plain and im absolutely dying of anticipation... she Finally gets off and shes got that scared "deer caught in the headlights" look in her eyes and she's shaking all over, well, she doesnt see me, cuz im sitting on the floor, but i see her and as shes walking by me i reach out and grab her leg and pull it into me, and just sorta hug it... shes kinda shocked, cuz she didnt see me there, so she puts her hand on my head to balance herself, and then i let go of her leg, and we just look at each other for a second, but she's so scared she has to look away. we start walking downstairs to get her luggage and everything, and every time i try to look at her, she shoots me this look like i better stop, later i found out it was because she was soo frightened inside she thought she was going to explode... we get to the luggage thing and we're standing there waiting, and neither of us has said a thing yet, so i look at her and im like "so where's my hug?" and she puts down her bag and wraps her arms around me and hugs me Tight, and then she says something about not being able to see the luggage pass by and how she doesnt want to miss hers, so i turn us around, still hugging, and now shes facing the luggage stuff. we hug like that for 5 minutes and everyone is staring at us, then this old lady and her husband are walking by, and it doesnt click in her head that we're gay and she says something to her husband like "oh isnt it sweet how those two friends are hugging? friendships like that are so beautiful" and it was. then we get her stuff, go outside, cuz we're both so nervous and just Need a cigarette. LOL... so we're out there, and i stick my hand out, and she takes it, and puts her head on my shoulder, and we just stand like that for the longest time. and it was beautiful. awwww. fastforward: we were together up until christmas of this year, and we spent a year living together... it ended... but it didnt end badly... sometimes things just have to end. regardless, it was an amazing first meeting and connection. the end. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif ------------------ "watch me bounce!" |
AWW, TemptingNugget--that story was simply beautiful!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif yes, you're right sometimes relationships do end, but then you learn a lot from it http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif. I'm glad it didn't end badly.
HAHA-Bubbles--I'm sorry Shawn doesn't have a brother. He has lotsa cute cousins though! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif |
I've got some! But I"m gonna make it quick--fiance wants to go on the Net, too LOL...
OK>..well, my fiance (well, then he was only my BF) waited 23 hours outside, in COLD COLD weather (light snow) to get me PLAYOFF tickets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 I LOVE MY GUY! It was simply amazing...it was a surprise gift along with a simply gorgeous Tiffany's necklace. The next day...we go out on a sailboat into the ocean...beautiful day...sparkling blue, clear water...bright sun, not a cloud in the sky...just a perfect setting. Guess what...he proposes!!!! Of course I say yes!!! He said to me, "You are the reason why I wake up in the morning, you are the reason why I go to sleep at night--because I want to dream of you." http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif Sure, you might think that is cheesy--but I loved it. Fast forward to one year later--we are getting married in about 7 months! I could go on and on...but he wants to use the comp now LOL! and Newbie darlin' that story of what Shawn did for your anniversary was precious! What a great bf! I miss you hon! XOXOXOXOXO hugs and kisses, Jacqueline |
