What I love....

It has come to my attention that I've been rather negative lately (I'll blame it on the cold winter blahs)...and since this is the LOVE month (and I still have not a thing to do here at work), I figured I'd try to add something positive out here. I'm sure this list will grow and grow (as the hate topic does everyday for me http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif)

What I love...

Snuggling with my honey on the porch swing during a warm summer thunderstorm

Laying in bed with my ferret curled up on my chest, my cat on my pillow, my black lab at my feet, and my Australian shepard mix by my side -- and my hubby if he can fit http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Tickle fights

Payday!

Hearing my nieces (or any kids) laughing the way only kids can

Signing on to GC and seeing that someone's replied to your topic... http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Allie_XO 02-01-2001 03:10 PM

AXO - a ferret?!?!?! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif We used to have two ferrets and we had to give them away, and then call the smell-exorcist. They left ferret odor everywhere. Uggh!

But the were sweet and cute.

Anyway - things that I love.
  • Books.
  • Waking up, and then deciding to go back to bed.
  • Sales.
  • Good radio stations.
  • Ice creme on hot days and hot tea on cold days.
  • Saturday morning thunderstorms.
  • Being single - sorta.
  • Malcolm, my adorable, fuzzy-wuzzy, cutie-patootie, silly, goofy, darling cat.
  • My brother. He's fourteen, and massive. He's like 5ft 10, 220 lbs of pure muscle, wears a size 13 shoe, and so soooo ticklish. He lets me tickle him and doesn't beat me up. He could probably knock me out with one blow. I love my brother.
  • Cool weather.
  • Smiles.
  • Rollercoasters.
  • Bright stars in the sky.
  • Love butterflies.
  • Greekchat!
  • Last but certainly not least - my sisters.
AXO Alum - I hope this reply makes you happy! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

YAY!! Another IRON CHEF fan!!! With every episode I find myself amazed at the drama and the way those chefs can create dishes like that.

Miami1839, I look forward to seeing your brother on Days. I know a lot of guys who admit to watching Days--my BF being one of them...although he prefers watching Passions because "Timmy" is just too cute.

I dont think I've ever seen the Iron Chef. Sounds like a great show.

OTW,

Yeah, I guess when I have the time to waste Days can be addicting. I wonder if there are other actors/actresses on that show that are greek. I've watched Passions too. How could you not love Timmy LOL Timmy and his Martimmys. Wasnt there a actress on that soap that is a Chi Omega?

Yes our baby is a ferret (Hobbes) - he just turned 5 -- he doesn't smell actually! We have had people over that couldn't believe we had a ferret because there is no odor. The only time I think he ever smells a little is when he and Oscar (the black lab) are playing - and don't kid yourself -- Hobbes always kicks his butt! He doesn't put up with any crap from anybody...including mommy & daddy! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

IRON CHEF -- is that not the craziest show? I get so tickled at the opening everytime "Zorro" bites into that pepper and gives his best "come hither" look to the camera -- my hubby will imitate this look to express his desire to me...this is how the tickle fights usually gets started http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Too funny! BUT -- I was mortified 2 weeks ago when Zorro boycotted his own show and they had a replacement --- UUUGGGHHHH PIGLETS ON THE MENU! GROSS! Let's just say I flipped the channel real fast! The funniest part is that woman who has the voice over of what sounds like a porn star "Oh - its so wobbly in my mouth" -- ROFLMAO every time they say stuff like that!

By the way -- the same night as the piglets - Saturday Night Live did a spoof of Iron Chef with "American Bachelor Chef" -- too funny! One of the very best skits I've ever seen!

This really is making me smile http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

CHAIRMAN KAGA IS THE OVERLORD OF PEPPERS!!!

I love that man because he is just SO dammed serious about this show, he think's his sh*t don't stink! YOU ARE SO RIGHT ABOUT THE PORN VOICEOVER WOMEN!! I watched it tonight and wish I had read your post first! Also, the shogun warrior voiceovers for the men are even worse!! "MASTA NOW TEACH YOU HOW TO EAT UDON NOODLE!" ROFLMAO!!!!! I also imitate Chairman Kaga's orgasmic pepper bite and my roommate and I just start peeing in our pants laughing so hard!!
And yes, the Charlie Sheen Iron Chef spoof had me again almost peeing my pants!!!

Thought of some more stuff...

Any kind of funny word or expression -- my favorite:

"We're gonna have a coming to Jesus meeting!"
Cracks me up everytime I hear it -- including when my mother says it to me (STILL) because I know she STILL MEANS IT! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Anything that includes "Tom Foolery" such as "I ain't putting up with no Tom Foolery"

Hearing a song that you haven't heard in FORever, and still knowing every single word! (Yet I can't remember my own name half the time - go figure http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif).

Anything to do with my pets - Oscar (the big black lab) makes the funniest noises when I pet his head -- I can't even describe it, but it just cracks us up --- Riley (the Australian Shepard mix) can smile -- he pulls his nose way up high (kind of like a growl), but he shows you his entire teeth and gums and wags his whole body -- it is the CUTEST thing. He now knows that we give him treats for doing it so he does it on command -- used to you had to get him really excited like when you first got home.

5pm on Fridays!!!!!

I'm usually such a cynic, so I'm going to sit down and come up with things I love:

-Sleeping in.

-Back massages.

-My boyfriend.

-REAL BREWED iced tea. The stuff they pass off as iced tea here comes in a can. Yecch!

-Running across the Main Green during the first snowfall of the season.

-Going home.

-Flying first-class.

-Kids.

juniorgrrl 02-09-2001 03:52 AM

Since I'm also a pretty big cynic, and have been accused of being 'negative' at times, I'll come up with a list of my own http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

* My amazing boyfriend of 3 years 5 months

* My cousins (Boys age 12 and 4 and girls
age 8 and 3.5)

* Finding something great to wear on the sale
rack

* Jimmy Buffett's music

* Going to Barnes and Noble, getting a
Frappucino from the Starbucks, grabbing a
stack of magazines, and sitting and
reading for an hour or 2

* Warm weather

* Mardi Gras

* The Hallmark Kiss Kiss Bears

* Mario Golf (the best N64 game *ever*)

* Kate Spade handbags

* Marble Slab Ice Cream

* Cancelled classes

Sammie17, I've been to Carmel before. My aunt and uncle live in Monterey which is close to there. Carmel is a very unique place. Especially the shops and the beach. If I had one word to describe it I would say its "Artsy". Its not my most favorite place, but I think it would be rather romantic to take a lady to though. My mom loved it there. I like the Monterey Aquarium also and the Cannery.

I just love Carmel so much--I would love to live there one day... http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif but the houses there are rather expensive!!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif The last time I was in Carmel was 5 years ago http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif I have forgotten so many sites there, but I still have that general idea of Carmel http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Hey Sammie17 http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Is that the Pacific Coastal Highway, Hwy. 101? which goes down from San Fran to Monterey/Salinas. I think I did take that route one time with my parents from San Fran to Monterey and it was definitely very scenic in some parts. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I love that whole area of San Fran, Fishermans Wharf, Ghiradellis, China Town, and Monterey. Santa Cruz is kind of a fun place too with their boardwalk and has a nice beach. That area definitely has expensive houses/apartments and I think really you can only get a better deal by going North towards Sacramento. My family has a cabin up in lake tahoe and thats my favorite place which I absolutely love. Sometimes I think Calif. is a great place to visit but not necessarily a great place to live. Maybe thats just me.

Kevin

Hi Kevin, so sorry for such a delay! I totally missed the post when you posted. San Fran is great isn't it? Well this is coming from a girl who has SF as her hometown! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Have you ever been to The Cliff House at Ocean Beach?? WOW. Spectacular views. If you haven't noticed, I'm a person who LOVES bbeautiful views and serenity LOL. There's just something about being able to sit on a rock overlooking the vast sea of blue water, and hearing the waves crash, and seeing a sunset at the same time. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif I'm honestly not sure about the 101 Highway thingey. I think that is where you go for the 17-mile drive...I really can't say for sure though. The 17-mile drive does stretch from SF to Monterey though. Also the outlying area surrounding SF is great! Have you been to the Napa Valley and Tiburon/Marin/Sausalito??? Napa is famous for its wine...and Tiburon, Marin, and Sausalito offer incredible views...and are such beautiful towns. Sausalito has this incredible aura about it...it's a seaside town (of course http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif and the shops there are lovely. It's my kind of place. I want to move there (along with Carmel)! LOL...I have never been to Sac-Town. How is Sacramento? Is it fun there? I also adore Lake Tahoe!!!!! It's got to be one of my fave vacation spots http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif You are so very lucky to have a cabin up there http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif You know, though, I was very, very scared while driving up to Lake Tahoe...I was driving around midnight...and the route you have to take is incredibly dangerous (the cliffs)...I felt like the car was going to swerve off and fall hundreds of feet down to the Lake! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif It's beautiful driving there during the day...but I was scared out of mind during the night-drive! I always am sure to drive extra-slowly whenever going to Lake Tahoe! But anyway, when I was driving on those dangerous roads, I saw those beautiful cabins on top of the Lake...and they are so cute! I told my family I wanted to own a cabin there one day http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Nice talking to you!!!

[This message has been edited by sammie17 (edited February 22, 2001).]

sammie17 02-22-2001 10:53 PM

BTW Kevin, where are you from? Are you from the east Coast?

Miami1839 02-23-2001 10:59 PM

No worries on the delay http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Thanks for writing back http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Yeah, San Fran is great. Theres so much to do. Although you probably know it much better than I do. I've only visited it a few times. I dont think I've been to the Cliff house and Ocean beach but I could be wrong. Maybe I have. Your not alone on enjoying spectacular views. Thats one reason I love visiting California. It isnt all that great to live there I dont thin. Maybe I'm wrong. I just think some places are better visited. Sac town is ok I guess. Its got old town sacramento which has a railroad museum but I guess its not as cool as other places farther south. but every town has its own character though. Like Hang town as they call it or Placerville. Thats awesome your familiar where my familys cabin is at. Yeah, its definitely my favorite place and first choice anywhere as far as vacations. We have a back road off the back that leads to I 50 which is the road you spoke of. Its pretty crazy too in some places with huge drops. I like going to Harveys too with their buffet and the slot machines are nice too. I'm not much of a gambler though. I'm originally from Virginia. Fredericksburg, Virginia to be exact. 50 miles south of D.C. and we have George Washingtons boyhood home down the street and loads of other historic places. So its night and day compared to California. I love both though. My dads family is fornerly from California and he went into the Marines in 69 and met my Mom whos from Maryland. So even though I've lived in Virginia for many years I've spent my share in other places. Nice talking to you too http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Hi Kevin!
Oh, how there are times when I hate school http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif aside from Greek Life of course! Lately I have been so stressed due to all these exams and papers that have been piling up....LOL it does not help that i am the QUeen of Procrastination! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif ANyway, I am sick right now...so I'm on a little vacation--if you can call it that--for about 2 days now. I really wanted to go out tonite (St. Pattie's) w/my sisters...but I don't feel well enough to go clubbing! How was your St. Pattie’s Day? Virginia sounds terrific…I have always been amazed at how different the West Coast is from the East Coast. I just love the Colonial styles that New England holds…and it’s just really fascinating for me to see (in viewbooks at least hehe) the places where former presidents used to reside/grow up in. If you can’t already tell, =) I’m a stickler for really serene, beautiful places…and to me, it seems like New England, with that lush landscape and rolling hills (? I might be wrong on this?) would be perfect. I’d love to maybe move there one day after I graduate from college! However, I’m a true Cali girl, and I don’t know if I could actually stand the harsh climates, where you actually experience a Winter! LOL! Here in California…you only experience basically a Spring and a Fall...and in So Cal you experience Spring, Summer, and a little bit of Fall (mostly Summer though!). Again, sorry about the delays in responding these days! I hope that all is well w/you! As for me, I have been really stressed these past few weeks (as I said above), but thankfully there is this guy I’m now dating (a Pi Kappa Alpha) and he is just wonderful! Please take care for me! Love, Sammie

Hey Sammie http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I've been there. Hang in there http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif It builds character and eventually you'll have that beautiful piece of paper. Thats sucks that your sick. I hope you feel better soon. I know theres something going around here. Just think that there are plenty of times to go out and celebrate. This time that you need is a small fraction of the fun that you can have during a semester. I was always the big putter offer also. I always did my papers last minute but then I always met my deadlines. I guess I was better at handling things under pressure http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Yesterday was ok with me. I spent it with my parents and we just had a quiet night. Definitely had some good refreshments though. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Tonight will be much of the same but with more of the family. Yeah, its pretty cool here. Definitely worlds apart from California. I know what you mean on the difference of seasons. More pool time for you http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Here in Virginia it is beautiful. Very green, with rolling hills and very historic. Nothing like California's majestic mountains, but we have some awesome sights. Like in my town we have tons of civil war places and of course about 50 minutes north of me is Mount Vernon (GW Washingtons Home). A big estate and very pictureque. I'm not found of the winters here though. It is nice to see snow for the first time in the winter but not when I have to drive through it for work *L* Yeah, its different here, but its got a lot of character to it. I love California too, but I guess its just another flavor http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Nothing like those Billboards and rolling California hills http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Yeah, things are going great here. Congrats on your new friend. Take Care, Kevin

- Watching a movie at home with my family while eating pizza.(Our weekly family event.)
- Taking a nap on a saturday while it's rainy and dreary outside.
- Waking up and finding out school has been cancelled because of the snow.(or in TX because of the ice.)
- Swimming in the pool with friends on a hot summer day, and cooking hamburgers, chicken, and steak on the grill. MMM!
- When my mom tickles my arm.(She's been doing it since I can remember, just the thought of it makes me home sick.)
- Sitting in front of a fire wrapped up in a warm blanket, drinking hot chocolate with marshmellows.
- Helping my mom make thanksgiving, and christmas dinner.
- Eating my mom's homemade stew on a cold winters day.
- Spending time with my dad fixing, building, or repainting things.
- That feeling you get when you have a crush on someone, and your friends tell you they think he likes you.(That's the best!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif)
- Spending time with my wonderful new sisters!! They're my best friends in the world, and I would do anything for them!
